This secluded mountain cabin, sitting on 30 acres of land, offers a rare combination of breathtaking mountain and river views, plus many hiking trails right on the property. Doolittle Mountain Cabin is inviting and comfortable, and a great size for one or two families to share. After a fun-filled day playing around the property or traveling around WNC, take advantage of the cabin's creature comforts. Enjoy a cookout on the grill, curl up in front of the cozy gas fireplace with a good book or movie, and climb into the seven-person hot tub! With plenty of activities to keep you on the go and so many ways to relax, you'll surely sleep well under... the mountain sky. This is a perfect location for those who want rustic, mountain privacy yet still want the opportunity to shop in Asheville (25 minutes), see the Biltmore Estate (30 minutes), and hike in Hot Springs (30 minutes). This Asheville vacation rental is located in Marshall and is approximately 25 minutes to downtown Asheville. 4WD, AWD or Front Wheel drive recommended due to the steep nature of the driveway. Each reservation comes complete with our exclusive Mountain Discovery Pass , which now includes a Biltmore Estate pass -- in addition to seasonal activities such as ziplining, whitewater rafting, and skiing! This extremely valuable pass is a special gift from Carolina Mornings to our guests, and is not available anywhere else. Enjoy Asheville the way it is meant to be enjoyed, and let us spoil you with activities and the best customer service in Asheville!
This cabin was pretty cool, nice view cool amenities etc. but when i visited i was dismayed to see the hot tub wasn't working. When i called they told me they were working on it- when i arrived i saw no evidence of any work being done- but they weren't going to let me get another cabin- that sucks because a hot tub is a major part of the cabin- at 500 / night I'd expect everything to be in working order- they only gave me 50$ off, but i had no other option because the contract leaves you no other option - so I'd say it was nice but the final touches of what they advertise are not- so watch out- because it's a lot of money to spend to not get everything that's advertised.

Comfortable, warm, clean and spacious will all the amenties but roughing it feel. We plan on returning without asheville plans and just enjoy cabin life for a few days! You have your own mountain looking down on Dan River. The steep drive would be difficult in bad weather. This unit was recommended to us and it exceeded our expectations.

The cabin was very nice, clean and very secluded up on the top of a mountain. The views breathtaking. There is a jacuzzi which was very nice. I am from Florida so the drive up to the cabin alittle scary but once you do it the first time not so bad. I stayed during the summer and the weather beautiful.

Loved it!!! The only negative was the driveway. It should really be paved, I got stuck a few times and felt like I was going to drive off the cliff trying to get out. That is the only negative about my trip. Read more
Thanks for taking the time to respond to Carolina Mornings’ survey. It is unfortunate that the gravel driveway presented a problem. Otherwise, we hope you had a positive experience at Doolittle Mountain Cabin. This spacious log cabin has a lot to offer guests, like the stone fireplace, hot tub, and great views of the river below. We hope to hear from you on your next trip to the NC mountains!
Beautiful minus the dead animals on the wall

Really loved this property, but the lack of respect the owner has for animals was not appealing. Still, the cabin was great otherwise. Thanks. Read more

We totally enjoyed our stay at the Doolittle Cabin. One suggestion I would have for the owners is the kitchen supplies (pots, pans, casseroles) leave a lot to be desired. We were there for Thanksgiving so had to go out and buy alot of disposable foil pans and disposable serving utensils, to cook a holiday dinner. The layout is great for a large family or several families, we would consider renting here again.
The view was awesome!!! Read more
Thank you so much for sharing your Thanksgiving with us! We also really appreciate the great review :)
We tend to stock the kitchens sufficiently for family gatherings- our standard is enough for the maximum occupancy times 1.5- which can be less than needed for some for the holiday meal. If this is not sufficient, we would suggest packing a few of your essentials so that you do not have to purchase more. Having said that, we will definitely pass on the information regarding the kitchen supplies to the owner; an important aspect of a fully- equipped kitchen, especially for the holidays, are the supplies. Maybe the owner will add a few extra during the holidays. Please visit us again soon!
Scariest driveway I've ever been up

But after I bailed out of the car and walked the driveway, it was worth it. Beautiful cabin, beautiful views and we even had a visit from a bear. This place is private. Read more
We here at Carolina Mornings really appreciate your review of Doolittle Mountain Cabin! As a resident of the North Carolina mountains I understand how scary a mountainous driveway can be (especially for the first time experiencing one!)- thank you for sticking with it and still enjoying your stay!
We appreciate your business and hope you will join us again in the future; we also have properties at a lower elevation with less of the thrill factor if you would prefer!

A few of us rented the cabin to celebrate 3 consecutive birthdays (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). We were most impressed with the hot tub - the water changed colors and really set the mood of relaxation! The cabin itself was gorgeous with stunning views.
The only two drawbacks were that the fireplace was disabled (likely due to the fact it was July), and we were not able to use the grill (had not been cleaned and no propane tank).
Overall, the cabin exceeded our needs and expectations, and we are looking forward to returning during the winter months!

Our stay at Doolittle Mountain Cabin was amazing. The layout of the cabin was perfect for the scenario of our families. This cabin brought two families together following the marriage of their son and daughter on Dec. 20th. Following the honeymoon, our children met us (parents and siblings) at the cabin to share in Christmas festivities together. As honeymooners, they occupied the entire lower floor which was very private. The grooms parents and brother occupied the main floor utilizing the nice bedroom and bath and living room sofa. The brides parents and siblings occupied the third floor, the loft and attached bedroom and bath. It was a perfect setup. The main living area was so picuresque as was the amazing view on Christmas morning of fog lying on the river in the early morning. The trails, lovely deck and hot tub (the temperature did not get as warm as we would have liked it but it was still pleasant) were put to much use as the weather was very cooperative for the end of December. The cabin was stocked wonderfully for preparing meals for a large group. (The dishwasher was not working during the time we were there, however).
In conclusion, we loved spending time in this cabin and are planning on meeting there again! It sits in a beautiful spot with such spectacular views. The driveway was very steep but we had no problems. Any bit of ice or snow would definitely be a problem, even with four-wheel drive. However, it just added a little more flavor to our whole experience. Thanks Carolina Mornings for your recommendaton of this cabin in a last minute sitution for a large group. It was truly meant to be "ours" over Christmas 2008! Read more
Thank you for sharing your story and Christmas with Carolina Mornings. We always enjoy hearing about positive experiences at Doolittle!
We would have wished to hear from you about the dishwasher and hot tub so that we could make things for comfortable for you - the dishwasher has a wall switch that seemed to have been turned off during your stay. We are glad to have this brought to our attention, and will add this information to our property notebook to make the operation of the dishwasher easier for future guests!
Hot tubs are usually set to around 102 degrees, but on really cold nights they have to work really hard to reach and sustain that temperature. Unfortunately, this is especially with large groups, as there is often a lot of use and the tub remains uncovered for long periods of time.
Thank you for such wonderful feedback and we hope you will make Doolittle Cabin a Christmas tradition.

We celebrated our honeymoon for 1 week at this cabin and it was absolutely perfect. The view, the hot tub, everything was spectacular. Comfy, cozy home. Highly recommend it. We hope to visit again with friends and family.

This is the first time I have rented through Carolina Mornings and I cannot remember a time when the staff for a managed property that I used was more professional and accommodating. Further the cabin was even better than represented online. Excellent experience and when a property is desired in NC, I will again rely on Carolina Mornings for my needs.

Five ladies in quest of relaxation found it at Doolittle Cabin. After a rough start (we were in a 5 car accident on the way up!) we welcomed the spacious hot tub. A trip to the Secret Garden Spa in Weaverville took out more kinks on Saturday. Just sitting on the porch looking at the river and the mountains removed the last of our stress. Can't wait until next year!

We had our men's retreat in this Wonderful cabin. The atmosphere and ambience was simply amazing. We had 5 adults and 4 teenagers and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves even the teenagers enjoy the cabin and hot tub and the mountain. We enjoy the peace and the quiet and the beauty of this magnificent mountain. For many of my men this was a first time experience and with this property made it one they will never forget. We are already making plans to return. I would recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a getaway where you can be alone to reflect, refresh and renew. Thank You Carolina Mornings for such a wonderful property.

The house was beautifull inside and out, and well appointed with everything clean and in working order but the real attraction is the view, magnificent. The house is located at the top of a mountain, total seclusion, looking down at the French Broad River (big view of the river and being able to hear it, too) and very expansive view all around of the hills and mountains. The rental company was great, including communication and directions. We had no problems and would love to go back.
