Elephant Studio is a beautiful artfully designed water-front studio surrounded by gardens & nature's bountiful beauty and variety. The view from this retreat is of the glistening water of Tomales Bay to the sandy beaches and tree adorned hills of spectacular Point Reyes National Park.

Be nourished by the beauty, sea life, and ever-changing water and skies of pristine Tomales Bay. “Elephant Studio” is built at this beautiful bay with a water-view 8’ floor-to-ceiling window & sliding glass door opposite a comfy loveseat. Cozily enjoy wind and waves traversing the bay. Watch dancing sunlight sparkle on the water. Your private p...atio under the apple tree is complete with table, chairs and propane BBQ. Free wireless Internet in the studio and outside.

When you walk through the gate, you are greeted by cheerful flowers, picturesque trees, and stone sculptures that welcome you to the private patio. At the patio a gate opens to the 14' deck and glistening water that flows underneath and to the opposite shore of Tomales Bay. Charming, peaceful and magical as morning lifts revealing an unforgettable view of the National Park... as the tide rhythmically flows in and out offering nature's music lapping the shore and pilings… as the sea birds call out and clouds pass over to an ever-changing vista of sky and water.

Enter the artfully designed, light-filled studio that opens to the patio and the deck and find you are still surrounded by natural beauty. An 8' sliding glass door looks out to deck and water, large windows and yet another glass-paned door frame lovely views of the trees and gardens surrounding everywhere you look. The complete kitchen offers a delightful view of gardens through a large window and also a unique porthole window.

The bathroom offers an experience of luxuriating in art and beauty… exquisite tile work, a charming hand-crafted sink with copper bowl set atop a beautiful redwood burl base. You'll love the 8 jet Jacuzzi tub with a large window looking out at the private garden and cliff top with sky beyond. It's a WOW!

The studio is furnished with a comfortable queen Murphy bed and love-seat sofa-both look out on the water. There's a cafe table & chairs, a writing desk, profusion of enticing books. Watch cable TV or choose a book from the library for a quiet, inspiring or scintillating read. Sit on the deck, walk down our private boat ramp to the rocky beach at low tide, or enjoy gazing at the water in comfort in all kinds of weather from inside the studio or out. Dock your own or rental kayak (rental concession is a few minutes' stroll away) at our ramp. At various times of the year the Bay teems with sea birds, schools of herring, salmon, dolphin and feasting seals. If you’re lucky sea otters may invite themselves onto the deck.

Elephant Studio is an incredible and inspiring setting for the thinker, writer or painter part of us all. This is the perfect setting for when you long to slow down, open yourself and be nourished and restored in a quiet, serene place overflowing with nature's magic. It’s ideal for a secluded or romantic retreat, for just getting away from the fast pace and noise of 21st century life. Elephant Studio is a place to ponder what's really important, or for a couple wanting to enjoy and connect with each other in a quiet, nourishing and romantic space.

Should you want to pull yourself away and enjoy a walk, you can wander the old fashioned Marshall Boat Works, enjoy delicious sandwiches and decadently irresistible barbecued oysters at the Marshall Store overlooking the water, chow down at Tony's Seafood or walk the other way to the lively and delicious happenings at the Hog Island Oyster Company.

If you can stand leaving even longer, there are great beaches and hiking trails in Point Reyes National Park. You might enjoy a walk on its endless miles of white sand beaches or gazing upon the abundant wildlife: the herd of albino deer, Thule elk, nesting American Bald Eagles, unbelievable variety of plants and ancient redwoods, or, visit the award winning Visitor Center and carefully restored Native American Village, Kule Loklo.

Take a short drive (30 minutes) and you can walk Dillon Beach and buy fresh crab from the boats of Bodega Bay. Just 15 minutes in the other direction is Point Reyes Station, then Inverness and Olema all of which offer a variety of fine restaurants and shops to explore, and great entertainment as well. A twenty minute drive North on Highway 1 brings you to Freestone and the Osmosis Spa, offering enzyme baths in a Japanese garden setting. Out-of-this world bakeries can be found in Point Reyes Station, Tomales and Freestone.

Sitting on Tomales Bay across from spectacular Pt Reyes National Seashore in West Marin County, surrounded by pristine beauty yet just a 1 hour drive from the Golden Gate Bridge & San Francisco, Elephant Studio sits within a private garden with deck and a view of the bay, its changing light and abundant wildlife. A flat 10 minute walk brings you to the historic buildings of the Marshall Store & Boatworks and to Tony's Seafood restaurant. Park your car at the front gate and immediately enter the enchanting garden. Nearby at the Marshall Store is a kayak concession. We are close to a golf course. You can windsurf, hike, bike, or, spend time at a world-class spa set in a Japanese garden. Bars with live entertainment, dancing and inviting bakeries are a short drive from the studio.
3-night minimum stay is required on national holiday weekends.

  A Magical Vacation

  At first we were reluctant to vacation at someone's house rather than a hotel or lodge. After the first phone discussion with the manager of Elephant Studio, we were convinced it might be a good idea. Good idea became a great vacation!
  The studio is even more beautiful, delightful, artful and
  well-built than the photos show. Sound of gentle waves lulled us to sleep at night. Seals, dolphins and endless varieties of birds greeted us as we sat on the deck drinking morning coffee.
  Rob (the manager) worked out a great deal with the local kayak concession for us to rent boats for the whole time we were there. We kept them right there at the studio's boat ramp. We paddled to beaches inaccessible by car or on foot for picnics, solitude and romance.
  When reading the description of Tomales Bay and Pt Reyes National Park we thought it was a bit exaggerated. Now that we've been there "subdued" is a better word for it. The bay, Pt Reyes, the locale, the entire area is absolutely wondrous!
  This was everything a vacation is supposed to be!
