Annandale, VirginiaA most relaxing stay
Left on 05/12/2013 for a stay in January 2013
Sorry I am tardy writing my review. We are an american couple that travel with friends to New Zealand on holiday during January and February. We stayed at the Villa in the Vines in late January. The location is great, with great wineries practically across the street and a 10 minute walk into town. The cottage was comfortable, clean and definitely exceed our expectations. The furnishings are well done and practical. Overall a great place to stay.

This is such a charming B & B on the interior. We were welcomed with fresh flowers on the table, a chocolate selection and a bottle of wine. The home has been lovingly restored and has many interesting antiques and artifacts displayed along with fireplaces in 2 of the rooms. We were given free Wi Fi and the refrigerator had selections for breakfast along with fresh bakery items for us on the counter. They had a CD selection and also a TV for use. There was a sitting area in the backyard and also a picnic table on the side of the house where we ate dinner one night with grapevines so close you could almost touch them.
On either side of this home are grape orchards. One is available for tasting and tours.
We used the bikes in the garage to do a winery tour one day and it was one of the highlights of our trip. -

Spent two nights here, and found it very hard to leave! Very nicely presented cottage with a pretty mix of classic charm and also mod-cons like a good TV & stereo system.
We also borrowed the bikes available for a day cycling around the local vineyards - was idyllic.
There were lots of nice little touches around the house, and very generous complimentary breakfast previsions, sweet treats, and wine.
We felt totally relaxed and at home here. Will definitely be back! Thank you!! -

Villa in the Vines is a gorgeous cottage with beautiful surroundings. There are so many lovely areas to enjoy the garden - we could have spent all day out there just moving around with the sun. Communication and check-in was made really easy. Having bikes available is a real 'plus'.
The villa is located close to the township - just a short walk. Everything we could have needed was in the villa, including wood for the fire. The villa is quite a special place. -

A beautifully done up villa with all the mod-cons you could want, three open fires if you wanted to use them (and a good wood supply), along with additional heating in each room for the winter, not to mention electric blankets.
The furniture and ornaments also in keeping with the villa, especially the lovely gramaphone and 78's which we played at breakfast.
Plenty of outside space for children to play, not to mention to sit while have a few wines and gazing at the grape vines.
Nice touches such as chocolates, not to mention the breakfast foods left for us and a rather nice bottle of red!
We walked from here to the Martinborough Hotel for tea, also to the Cornacopia Restaurant which was just devine.
Would definitely stay again.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay, with 19th century charm superbly maintained. Luxurious environment, with every indulgence catered for - next door to wineries, bicycles provided, wood-fired ambience, pastries, chocolates, fruit, dvd's, and music. Tranquil location yet strolling distance to centre of boutique village.
Plus complementary tickets to cinema and exquisite dining experience at TirOhana vineyard restaurant. Incredible value. -

This house was more than we expected. Just what we needed for a child free break (extremely rare) from the presentation, to the breakfast provisions, wine, chocolates and bath. Pleasure eating breakfast outdoors looking at the vines. Getting the addon bbq packs are well worth it too. The owners provide everything you need and more for a relaxing break away including our request for an earlier check in due to a commitment we had. Can't fault anything.

Whether you want a base to explore the greater Wairarapa, somewhere walking distance from Martinborough's vineyards, or simply a cosy hideaway from city life, Villa in the Vines is the perfect place to stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the local bottle of wine included and all the extra little treats. Highly recommended to all!

We thought the service was fantastic. The heater in the bedroom had been turned on ready for our arrival. The villa was extremely clean, beautifully decorated and so very comfortable. We loved the home and its space. We had everything we needed and more. There were lots of nice touches like jaffas for moving watching, a fruit bowl, bickies. They had thought of everything. There is nothing we liked least. It was all superb. We can't wait to come back again.

My son and I stayed at the Villa for four days during the World Cup and it was wonderful experience even though our team lost in the quarterfinal. We saw quite a lot of the southern/eastern area of North Island while we were in Martinborough which in its self is interesting with great eating establishments.
'Villa in the Vines' is an excellent home to stay at, keep up the good work David, even though your rugby predictions are not too good!!

This was our second trip back to Villa in the Vines, and we enjoyed it just as much as the first time. It was very cold when we first got there, but soon warmed up once we'd lit the fires.

Wellington, New ZealandPeaceful, Quiet, Cosy- yet still close to centre
Left on 07/25/2011 for a stay in July 2011
When we first arrived the place was clean, tidy and pre-warmed by a closed fire which was a nice surprise as it was a cold, wintery day. The little chocolates and extras left out were lovely too. The rugby was on over the weekend so it was great that the villa had Sky.
The house itself was much larger than I had expected and the group of 5 of us fit comfortably in one of the living rooms around an open fire.
It took less than 10 minutes to walk to the town centre and there were plenty of smaller cafes and wine tasting venues within walking distance, one even right across the road. The locals were all very friendly and helpful with their recommendations of what to do/ where to eat.
It was lovely to get away, even just for the weekend and I had a great time just relaxing near the open fire with friends and I look forward to visiting again in the summer to make the most of the bikes, the large backyard and the outdoor living area. -

Had a wonderful break at the cottage, a lovely place and so cosy. Especially with the fire going.
Plenty of breakfast supplies and the meat pack is worth ordering. The fruit, chocolates & wine were a great touch & much appreciated!
Have a meal at Tirohana Estate, well worth it. Excellent food, location & friendly professional service!
Lovely to have vineyards right on your door step.
Came home nice and relaxed, didn't want to leave, looking forward to our next stay!

A lovely welcoming home with so much to offer it seemed a shame there were only two of us to share it. Wonderful outdoor spaces and such an inviting feel to the interior. Very sociable layout and facitlites. Will bring friends or extended family next time to make the most of it.
Great to be so close to the vineyards and an easy walk to town. The bikes were useful too. Advice on local attractions/eats/taxis etc was very handy. Professional and friendly service from beginning to end. We'll be back :) -

Left on 03/09/2011 for a stay in January 2011
We received a wonderful welcome in this charming villa with a fantastic bottle of Martinborough wine, freshly made bread and Danish pastries (and lots more!) waiting for us on our arrival. There was plenty of room for everyone in this beautiful villa, both inside and out (the garden was a wonderful place to relax in). The bikes were great for exploring Martinborough and the children enjoyed swimming in the local swimming pool.
We had a great day trip out to the Pinnacles and to Cape Palliser lighthouse.
We just wished that we had stayed longer! -
