Situated just a minute from the centre of Masham, this stone-built converted chapel and former Post House offers something a little bit special. Fully renovated with an unusual upside-down layout, this property features its main living area with modern fitted kitchen, breakfast bar sitting area on the first floor, positioned to take advantage of the views through the original feature window. Two of the building’s five bedrooms are located downstairs. With all local amenities so close by and t...he local area boasting so many wonderful activities, this is an unusual holiday property for an unforgettable holiday.

Town: Situated in the lower reaches of pretty Wensleydale, the historic little market town of Masham lies alongside the River Ure. Boasting a huge market square with popular Wednesday and Saturday markets, this lovely little town is set gently rolling farmland which provides a wide selection of walks around the area. This includes a popular and recently reopened ten mile walk along the Ure that is widely regarded as one of the best walks in the UK. With an excellent range of crafts, galleries, shops, restaurants and pubs, the town has become known for the local Black Sheep Brewery which now brews eleven million pints of beer a year. The town of Harrogate is nearby and visitors may also enjoy a trip to the famous Betty’s Tea Rooms – home to the famous Taylor’s Tea, Yorkshire Blend.Read more

Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods.   Excellent large accomodation for a big family group or group of friends, we stayed with four other adult couples (and 2 dogs!) and managed perfectly well for a long weekend.
  Excellent location in the centre of the village, lots of shops and pubs/restaurants nearby and loads of great walks on the doorstep.
  The accomodation is spotlessly clean and well stocked with everything you might need for a home from home break.

  great accomodation...lovely area...good and friendly pubs.

  We all loved the OldChapel Post House. It was clean and warm with lovely views. The location was also lovely with many walks. Shops and pubs nearby. We all loved the friendly pubs with their open fires. We had two small dogs in our party and we were made to feel welcome with them.
  The only negative was no freezer.

  Lovely property but...

  An extended family group of 8 of us stayed here in august 2011. There are lots of positives about the property, the location being one of them. It is perfectly located for older people (hardly any distance to walk into Masham and all its delights) and younger ones (the exceptionally good play area is immediately opposite the house). The view from the large church windows is fabulous. Also good is the quality of the furnishings etc. However, we did feel that for a property that sleeps 10 the living area is compromised. The kitchen is tiny with little storage space for food; there a smallish fridge and there is no dishwasher, which in our experience is unusual. The kitchen is also part of the living area and I think we were lucky that the weather was good while we were there as it would have been quite claustrophic had it not have been.

  Nice but....................

  Nice property, well equipped, comfy beds, there was only really 2 things that were a let down, firstly the property is advertised as 4x doubles and 1x twin that can be made into a double upon request, we requested 5x doubles but on arrival we had 4x doubles 1x twin, there was no way to make the 2 singles into a 'locked' double so they just had to be pushed together, so its not really and never will be a 'double'. The other problem was that there is an adjacent 2 person cottage (which can be rented via Sykes) and the occupants of that were playing loud music long into the early hours, we're talking 4 and 5am, on 2 or 3 nights which took the gloss off what was otherwise an enjoyable stay. I think Sykes need to take more care of who they offer lets to and if it wasn't them that let the small cottage then they need to contact the owners or drop it from their portfolio.
