A perfect retreat for those looking for a relaxing, peaceful holiday. Casale degli Eremiti offers antique furnishing coupled with modern comforts. There are several lounges and a bright living area with access to the covered terrace and the garden with swimming pool, an Arab looking artefact and a pinewood. The private pool measures size 14 x 7 m., deep 160-220 cm and is in use all year round. The gardens and terraces have areas, which remain cool and shaded throughout the day, and during the summer both lunch and dinner can be taken outdoors in these surroundings. The villa is located in Agrigento province bordering with Trapani and Palermo... provinces. Nearby is the village of Santa Margherita di Belice, a strangely, new town dominated by a 1970s conception of futuristic architecture, after a major earthquake in 1968 flattened the original city. The property distances 7 km from Sambuca di Sicilia, a more beautiful historic Arab-Norman town and from the lake Lago Arancio. It is a 20 min. drive to the beautiful sandy beach of Porto Palo di Menfi and to the Greek temples of Segesta and Selinunte.

The first bedrooms is a double room with en-suite bathroom (shower, toilet and bidet) and has an extra entrance from outside. The second bedroom has two single beds and a double bed on a gallery floor. On the gallery floor is the bathroom (shower, toilet and bidet) and the access to the enormous roof terrace. There is another bedroom with en-suite bathroom on the other part of the house. All bedrooms have satellite-TV and air-conditioning.

Because of the presence of a fireplace and air-conditioning (warm/cold), and the very sunny climate in the southwest of Sicily, the house offers a pleasant stay also during the few cold weeks of the short Sicilian winter. Internet connection is available (internet key).

The villa is situated in Agrigento. In this city but also Selinunte, Segesta and Sciacca are many things to see: Day trips from S.M. di Belice include Agrigento (85 km), Selinunte (35 km), Segesta (45 km) and Sciacca (30 km). Agrigento is a major tourist center due to its extraordinarily rich archaeological legacy. At the Valley of the Tempels, the Classical world comes alive. The temples are the largest and best-preserved ancient Greek buildings outside of Greece itself. They are listed as a World Heritage Site. An ideal first glimpse of the temples is by night, during a drive along the Strada Panoramica. Segesta is one of the most romantic classical sites. The Greek theatre on the hill offers a wide view. Selinunte is a huge and very interesting site, left in splendid isolation, flanked by rivers and ancient ports. Sciacca is a working fishing town with a well preserved historic centre and some shops and good restaurants. The coast around Sciacca is sprinkled with excellent sandy beaches.

Visit premium wine producer Planeta: In the country side of Sambuca di Sicilia,, a historic Arab-Norman town, the premium wine producer Planeta can be visited. Original home of the family and the business, the 17th century farmhouse stands between the ruins of an Arab castle, the Arancio lake and a mountain range. The vineyards 'Ulmo' and 'Maroccoli' extend over a total of 95 hectares, surrounding the first Planeta winery where the quality white wines; Alastro (Chardonnay and Grecanico), Chardonnay and Cometa (Fiano) are produced.Read more

Day trips include Selinunte, the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, Sciacca is a working fishing town with a well preserved historic centre and some shops and good restaurants. M. di Belice is also the fictional Donnafugata of the famous novel 'The Leopard' of Tomaso di Lampedusa. The country house as described in the book is only partially destroyed. Nearby is Sambuca di Sicilia, a historic Arab-Norman town and the lake 'Lago Arancio'. 20 km away is the beach of Porto Palo di Menfi, a tiny village, just a few km east of the archaeological site of Selinunte. The beaches along this stretch of coast are amongst the most beautiful in Sicily. Most of the gently undulating countryside of the area is given over to vineyards. In the country side of Sambuca di Sicilia the premium wine producer Planeta can be visited.
