Bluebell Cottage is really cosy and characterful with beamed ceilings and quaint nooks and crannies. It is the centre cottage of three, all different, built in the 1790s in conjunction with Sir Richard Arkwright's showpiece, Masson Mill. This C (conservation listed) cottage which is situated within the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage site nestles at the bottom of the hillside with country walks straight from the front door. The cottage is very well equipped with full gas central heating and a log burner. Free WiFi is available. There are 3 bedrooms, a double, a twin, and a smaller bedroom with adult sized bunks, ideal for children or te...enagers. There are 2 bathrooms. Bluebell Cottage is very spacious for 2 guests, very comfortable for 4, and will sleep a maximum of 6. The cottage holds a current (2013) 3 star rating from Quality in Tourism(The Tourist Board), and is inspected annually. Outside there is a small lawned cottage garden with table and chairs. There is temporary parking for loading/unloading alongside the cottage, and always ample free parking 400 yards away. There are many attractions close at hand for all ages. Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Bakewell, Heights of Abraham and Gulliver's Kingdom for children. The cottage is within walking distance of many really good pubs, restaurants and shops. Cromford Station is a few minutes by taxi, and a bus stop is just 50 yards away, with excellent transport links to local centres. Masson Mill opposite provides a restored working mill to visit, interesting shopping, and a restaurant with Costa Coffee overlooking the River Derwent. We had a lovely time in Bluebell Cottage. The cottage was charming and provided ample room for our requirements. The towels provided were extra fluffy and we were spoiled with some shortcake and a snall supply of necessities like coffee, tea and milk available on arrival.
We especially enjoyed the many walks we took through the woods with the kids. They loved the caves in the backgarden and the rowing boats in Matlock Bath.
The owners were pleasant, accommodating and even willing to help us out when we got a little lost on one of our walks.
The location is lovely and within walking of Matlock Bath and Cromford as well as Masson Mills thatvis right accross the road.
We will most definitely return in the near future for a relaxing break from our daily routines.

Bluebell Cottage was the perfect location for our short break. It was warm and cosy - just what was needed for a snowy February weekend. The accommodation was very comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. A traditional cottage but with all mod cons - perfect.
We were delighted to find tea, coffee, milk and biscuits waiting for us when we arrived and my daughter and I enjoyed the shopping at Masson Mills just opposite.

We enjoyed our short stay at Bluebell Cottage, though the weather wasn't very kind to us. The owners added some thoughtful touches such as a box of biscuits, milk in the fridge and tea and coffee ready for us on our arrival. There were other homely touches that made it nice such as shampoo and shower gel etc in the bathrooms. Matlock and Matlock Bath are nearby and are both very pretty towns.

We stayed in Bluebell cottage for 4 nights and it was just perfect. It is a beautiful cottage, very quaint and homely. The owners had provided lots of essentials and the cottage was well equipped and well loved. Our three children aged 10, 8 and 4 were thrilled and loved exploring the area.
Lots to do in the area, in fact we were able to leave our car in the nearby hotel car park for the 4 days we were there and walked or got the train/bus. Great for families as Gullivers Kingdom was a 10 minute walk away. The heights of abraham was another great day and we also went on train to Derby for the day.
I loved staying there and hope to return one day. l0 out of 10

Entering Bluebell Cottage was like stepping back in time-with all the neccessary modern conveniences, and a warm welcome.
Upon our arrival we were greeted with complimentary biscuits and a welcome note from the owner-the fresh flowers were a lovely touch.
Having sustained a leg injury the day before our trip, negotiating the very steep stairs was a bit of a challenge, and we all did our best to be extremely careful after a glass or two!
The kitchen provided a lovely, sociable venue for the 5 of us to get cosy cooking dinner and our cook enjoyed the well equipped facilities.
Moving into the living room, unfortunately an aroma of damp is certainly present and has crept around the wallpaper and sofas. However, I'd imagine that the room is lovely and cosy in the winter-we'd have loved it to have been cold enough to light the wood burner!
The bright pink flat screen tv was the source of much amusement!
The cottage is not without wear and tear and dusty beams, but it's quirky character makes it a charming base for exploration in an area that has so much to offer.
I suspect that the lack of on site parking may be an issue for some, but we were quite happy to leave the cars redundant in the hotel car park, as arranged by the owners.
After an extensive search, Bluebell cottage certainly offered us the best value for money-and I know we'd all be haapy to have a reunion there one day!

Just spent a very pleasant week with family of 5 in Bluebell Cottage. The cottage is cosy and plenty big enough for a group of this size. Location pretty good too being close to both Cromford (good pubs and food) and also Matlock Bath.
We had a lovely stay in Bluebell cottage. It was clean and spacious and had the best equipped kitchen I have encountered in a self catering cottage.
The only drawback was that the parking was a little too far away for our 2 and 4 year old children to walk, but to be fair we were advised of this before booking and it didn't impinge on our holiday - my husband just had to do all the walking and give me and the kids a door to door service!

Our stay at Bluebell Cottage was very enjoyable. It had a very relaxed feeling & was warm & cosy even though the weather was damp & chilly. The main bedroom was lovely & comfortable & the bathroom on the top floor was charming. It was centrally & excellently situated for exploring the area & the Derbyshire Dales & history on foot or by car.
A lovely cottage in the heart of wonderful countryside

The cottage was very homely and welcoming, really cosy. There is lots to do and see in the surrounding area and the cottage is within walking distance of a range of good quality restaurants and local pubs.
