      Great 40th Birthday jaunt

Left on 05/22/2013 for a stay in March 2013

The house was lovely and very wam with the fire in the amazing living room. Once all the curtains were closed and the fire was on we could ignore all the snow falling outside. Nice to have Dvd's etc provided and not have to rent them. Coud do with internet connection but also nice not to have it for the week.

Loved the garden area with the views up the hills up to Ribber castle and along the railway line (steam engines on our first day were a delight)

Bedrooms all very lovely and cozy with additional blankets if required. main bedroom was amazing with the vaulted ceiling. I loved that it was animal friendly even with the a dog bed in one of the upstair rooms. Hair dryer provided was useful.

Bathroom with it corner bath and sepeprate shower were clean and useable (word of warning, dont run the taps downstairs when someone is in the shower!)

The house was in a great position in Matlock, close to the bus and train stations and only a 5 minutes from the town centre. Having the supermarket on your doorstep was an added bonus but the market in Matlock itself was a good place to get fruit and veg etc. We travel on the bus to Buxton, Bakewell & Derby and Chatworth House is only half anhour away. A few trips to arkwright mills and others in near by villages are also easy from Matlock.

The dinning room was grand and so had to be used. We had a couple of lunches in there with its amazing wooden paneling and huge table. Kitchen had all mod cons and large enough to eat at the table in there with out be on top of each other. It was also nice that teatowels etc were provided as it meant a lot less for us to bring on the train.

The house was large enough for the 4 of us at the weekend but cozy enough for 2 of us for the rest of the week. I had a great 40th Birthday week there and would go back again.

View to Ribber Castle from the garden Living room with is lovely fire

Nice cottage - could do with a deep clean

Left on 05/07/2013 for a stay in April 2013

Stayed at Bank House for 1 week in april 2013. Lovely cottage, great central location, all rooms spacious. Plenty of hotwater and central heating was easy to use. The cottage iteself could be a little gem, situated over several levels and was interesting! Lovely mock woodburner in the living room operated by remote control. Back garden is on the top of the railway bridge which is great for watching the steam trains, our little girl loved this and this feature is a major selling point. No train noise inside the house, as mostly only steam trains. This house would benefit from a clearly allocated parking spot at the back. Kitchen supplies are inadequate, no freezer, dishwater leaks, chipped crockery and filthy cupboards. Also refuge collection times etc would be useful. However, all in all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend Bank House.

      Location superb; amenities appalling

Left on 08/10/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Not enough info on website about many levels of house and steepness of stairs.
More bedside tables needed in each bedroom.
Clear Information required about refuse collections and recycling policy in the area. The bins were full when we arrived and even fuller when we left!
Waste bin needed in the kitchen and also some trays.
Dishwasher leaked as the seal was loose.
Vacuum cleaner was ineffective. Only worked on lowest know and then only fitfully.
Very small fridge for 6 people (under counter). No freezer which meant shopping each day; no one wants to grocery shop every day of their holidays.

Great cottage in an excellent location.

Left on 12/03/2011 for a stay in October 2011

Bank cottage is a lovely cottage right in the centre of Matlock. The cottage was very comfortable and the facilities of the cottage were very good. The decoration / modernisation of the cottage has been nicely done. Being in the centre of Matlock means that restaurants shops are on your doorstep. Matlock is a great base for a lot of attractions.

We appreciated the location - convenient for shops, restaurants and pleasant walks in Matlock itself. The house was well equipped apart from not having a waste bin in the kitchen - the dishwasher could easily have been dispensed with to make room for a bin.The beds were clean and comfortable.

cottage very nice and roomy, but lacking a few basics. A couple more toweks for kitchen and downstairs cloakroom would have been nice. Plus wastepaperbins.

Bank House was a lovely cottage in a good position in Matlock near to shops and other amenities. Furnishings and bedding extremely comfortable with a very well equipped kitchen. We would certainly recommend this cottage. Please note there is only one parking space not two as stated in brochure.

Apart from the confusion on arrival, because both properties are called Bank House and I was directed to the smaller property in stead of the larger one, everything was perfect.

      A very comfortable cottage

Left on 06/10/2010 for a stay in April 2010

The cottage is very comfortable with a glorious dining room, the bedrooms have lots of cupboards and wardrobe space, the bathroom is very large, the kitchen is well equipped, the only drawback was there is no freezer or freezer compartment in the fridge, thankfully a freezer centre and superstores are in walking distance. We had no noise problems from the infrequent trains. There is only room for one car at each cottage not two as stated

Sykes ottages and the owner were brilliant at letting us have the house at very very short notice. An excellent house, so close to the town centre. The "infrequent" train service that runs at the back of the garden wasn't frequent enough for our two train mad boys ( 3 years and 2o months)! A great house to stay in to visit the touristy things in the Peak District.

we visited Matlock in October, and chose this accomadation for no particular reason, but will definately return for many.It has a central location and great features, plenty of charm ,and very comfortable. We are a family of four with two children under ten. Matlock and the surrounding area offer many attractions, and found rhe accomadation the perfect location to take advantage off them.

Beautiful cottage with lots of facilities, including a wood panelled dining room with fire! Great character property but with modern amanities. 1 minute to nearest shops and restaurants, lovely park nearby aswell. Only downside was parking, there was no room for two cars as advertised as we were fearful of being clamped in the private car park outside.
