Brew House has been lovingly refurbished to a very high standard, allowing it to be both traditional and contemporary. Set in a picturesque, peaceful location with walks from the doorstep, making it a perfect retreat from busy day to day life. Ideal for a romantic break.
This beautiful stone built cottage is situated in the centre of the picturesque village of Maulds Meaburn, close to the river. It enjoys stunning views of the quiet village and its peaceful surroundings.
The cottage is located 13 miles from Penrith and 7 miles from Appleby-In Westmorland. Maulds Meaburn itself is part of the Lyvnnet Valley and the area is steeped... in history. There are lots of public footpaths straight from the doorstep and the nearest pub serving food is just a 10 minute walk away in the nearby village of Crosby Ravensworth. The Eden Valley is situated between the Lake District and to the West the Pennines and Yorkshire Dales and to the North Hadrians Wall country.
The cottage has recently been lovingly refurbished by the current owner to a very high standard. The cottage is full of warmth and character, the traditional local lime stonework of the exterior is echoed inside with feature dry stone walls, and the oak beams give it a lovely homely feel. The information pack provided was very scruffy, full of spelling mistakes and out of date vouchers etc. Although it was July, my husband and I love a real log fire but there were no instructions for it and we couldn't find the flue or even get it lit without smoking out the lounge. The 'garden' was full of tall weeds, the outdoor chairs looked about 50 years old and were very uncomfy. This was apparently a 5* accommodation, in reality it was more like a 3* one. The bedroom with mezzanine was fabulous (although a blind on the sun light window would have been good) and the bed was very comfy.
Fantastic time at the Brew House.

An amazing little cottage tucked away from the world. Small, compact and cosy with everything you need for a romantic get away. Great facilities and quirky green oak furniture. A lovely wood burner, spacious shower and comfortable bedroom. Dog friendly too. We took our two Jack Russells! Ruth & Mike who own the cottage were very friendly and made us feel very welcome...home made cakes, Christmas pudding, champagne. milk, tea and coffee all provided on arrival plus wood for the fire. Maulds Meaburn itself is tiny but beautiful. The local pub is just a 5 mins walk...Butchers arms. Great food and service. Nearest shopping for groceries and kindling in appleby...about 11 miles away.
We had a truly magical Christmas at The Brew House and would certainly return.

Me and my partner spent one week in Brew House from the 29th June - 6th of July , the directions supplied were very accurate, the house itself was beautifully designed, ideal for a couple trying to escape a busy town/city life, I actually enjoyed the face that there is no cell reception, it gives chance to relax without intteruption in the tranquill setting.
everything in the house worked perfectly, it was warm and comfatable, it combined the use of rural design with a modern touch, nothing was too much but everything exceeded expectation.
unfortunatly given the weather at the time we did not get the chance to enjoy as much of the surrounding areas as we would have liked to, however what we did see was beautiful, the locals that we did encounter were both friendly and helpull giving a positive atmosphere in the village.
I would highly reccommend Brew House to anyone considering a break away from the stresses of normal life.
if possible in the future we will be returning to the same place due to how good our stay was!
Not as good as expected.

The property did not meet our expectations.
We thought the location was fine, what ameneties?
The downstairs furnishings (seating) were all appalling!
The sheep and the lambs (we are farming people).
Probably the property as a whole.
Lovely little hideaway

This gorgeous cottage was the perfect escape for the 3 of us (2 adults and a dog). All equipment and facilities were good apart from the fact you had to mop the floor after a shower as the water leaked from under the tray. Not a massive problem and the only bit that needed sorting. Everything else was spot on.
As is stated in the descritpion it is a bit of a trek from shops/eateres so I would recommened taking provisions unless you want to drive out to get things, that said there are lots of lovely towns and villages in the Lake District so it is nice to get out and see whats about.
Overall would highly recommend the Brew House and have no complaints whatsoever
