We love the Mauna Lani and have stayed on property at multiple locations over the past 10 years. Unfortunately, this was by far the worst experience we have ever had.
When you arrive at the Golf Villa's J-22, prepare to be a mountain climber! The door opens and you are greeted by a long and narrow staircase where you will need to lug up all of your luggage and any food items you may have purchased. These stairs and the interior stairs within the unit quickly become old and very tiresome very quickly.
THIS IS NOT A UNIT FOR ANYONE WITH ANY CURRENT or PAST PHYSICAL ISSUES.
Add to that, there is NO storage in the unit for dry goods, bread, or anything that does not require refrigeration. Should you plan to use the freezer be aware the freezer door will not all the way so you have limited use of the unit's freezer. The furniture, while it photographs nicely is poorly arranged and somewhat uncomfortable. There are no TVs in any bedrooms. The beds however are nice - however the window treatment are cheap plastic blinds that lets in light, so don't expect to sleep in many mornings. The master shower is so poorly designed that when you first get in you either have to stoop underneath the shower-head or have the shower spray water all over the bathroom floor while you wait for it to reach the temperature you want. You even are required to wash all your own sheets and towels before you check-out(you can leave no more than two loads of laundry). We even had to call the management company to request a full sized trash can, all that was originally provided were two small bathroom sized trash cans. (They did provided one full-sized plastic trash can quickly, however.)
This is NOT the typical Mauna Lani experience, and we will not be returning to the Golf Villas, in particular unit J-22. We are however looking forward to returning to the one of the resort's other areas like the Point, the Islands, Kulalani or one of the other many locations where we have stayed i -

Had a great week at the Mauna Lani Golf Villas. Everything we needed for a great hawaiian vacation was in our condo unit! Lots of beach towels, a cooler, and an umbrella. there was also lots of storage available so could unpack and settle in for our stay. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything could need. The bbq on the lanai was fantastic--used it most nights to cook dinner. It is nice as there is a grocery store near the property. This is a unit we will definitely return to!!

Thank you! We had a wonderful, restful time on the Big Island. The villa was in perfect condition, with plenty of space for us and our three children. We had a lovely view from the balcony over a golf course. The pool within the complex was beautiful and very convenient. If pushed to find a fault, it would only be that the Golf Villas are a little set apart from the Mauna Lani facilities, which made it a quiet complex. However, it meant that with children a car was essential to get to the beach, Shops, Golf etc.

We had a wonderful time. J23 was beautiful and very clean. We definitely would recommend it to all our friends. Hope to go back soon. The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed the beach, restuarant at the beach and the pool.

This area of Hawaii is our favorite and we love staying at the Mauna Lani Golf Villas during our annual visits. Very clean comfortable accomodations just 5 miles from Hapuna Beach.

My daughter and I stayed at this property for 12 nights and were very happy. It is well appointed, spacious and all the conveniences of home. I was especially impressed with the employee who looks after the sub-division. He takes a lot of care of the grounds, the properties, and the residents/guests. The only thing missing was a little closer proximity to the ocean.

We had a a great weekend away with family. The loft was great for the grandchildren! The unit was very comfortable, clean and well appointed. The pool at the complex is wonderful. management was very easy to work with and provided excellent service!

We stayed in this beautiful condo with another couple for the weekend of the Ironman 70.3 Hawaii. It was very spacious, comfortable and great to have a fully-stocked kitchen...a much better (and less expensive) alternative to a hotel. It was also very convenient for race-related activities. We would definitely stay again! We had three athletes with bikes, and for that it would have been great to have access to the garage but this didn't prove to be too much of an inconvenience.

Our experience at the Mauna Lani Golf Villa resort was truly amazing. It was quiet, comfortable and very relaxing. The pool area was beautiful and very well kept, along with the grounds throughout the entire complex area.
The only complaint is having to do the laundry before leaving. Don't mind doing towels, but found it a bit odd having to strip & wash bedding when a cleaning fee had been paid. Have never had a request like this before. Thank you!! -

We absolutely love the Mauna Lani resort area. The Golf Villas are located in a nice quiet area with beautiful views of Mauna Kea and the golf course. We could even see the ocean from our unit. Pool area is very inviting with lush vegatation. The only thing we were disappointed with was that there were not enough chaise lounge chairs to sit in. Condo was beautiful! We also loved the Foodland Grocery store at the shops...great coffee and bakery...We would call this area our home away from home!
