Description from the owner
6 BR 6 BA Oceanfront Estate with 3 Fabulous Living Room Views- Sleeps 12
Located on 3-mile long Papohaku Beach, this 6 bedroom, 6 bath Hawaiian home on 7 acres is ideally suited for family vacations. Three separate private suites, and a master bedroom which overlooks the ocean, comfortably house large groups, though we are happy to rent to smaller groups and prorate the charges. Two large decks and three living rooms on the ocean side make you feel like you are on the beach, but make whale watching, sunset viewing, and outdoor meals simple. Huntington Beach, CaliforniaPrivate Paradise
Left on 07/15/2011 for a stay in June 2011
This is an amazing property, We were there in June 2011 and the weather was hot, but cooled by tradewinds. The best beach in Molokai (in our opinion) is just a jaunt down the beach from the property and the water is so balmy and clear it is like being in the Caribbean. This is a place for those with a sense of adventure and an ability to make life happen, as there aren't a lot of nearby organized options, no close restaurants or fast food joints. No stop lights. It's a half hour to Kaunakakai for groceries-- come prepared. But, if you love to walk the beach, collect seashells, swim, surf or body surf in clear waters, watch the amazing rainbows and sunsets that you see nearly every day, hike the several really interesting trails, swim in the property's lovely heated pool, have your own luau in the thatched hut party spot complete with barbeque and commercial smoker, this is your own private paradise. The accommodations are really spacious and unusual, with three different "houses" - one small, one medium, one huge. Perfect for a very large family or several couples. We shared costs, went to Costco in Honolulu before the 20 minute flight to Molokai and stuffed the food in spaces we had left in our luggage. In the end, an amazing experience that cost us about $1200 a couple plus air. Don't miss the hikes - the one to Kalaupapa (former leper colony) is really worthwhile. You can hike it if you like steep stairs (1666 foot drop in 3 1/2 miles, 26 switchbacks, or you can take a mule which is the easy way and gets you lunch and a full and really great tour of the town and outskirts. If you don''t pay to get into the town, you can't go in, but we felt the history was worth it. Check out Molokai Mule Train. Under $200 pp. roundtrip with lunch and well trained mules).
There is a caretaker available to answer questions and take care of any major issues. Kids are really welcome here and there are lots of kid-toys available including games, bikes, etc. Don't be afraid of bugs (except centipedes) or other critters, as this is a pretty wild place. That's one reason it is so unusual. Can't wait to go back next year. -

An amazing setting, plenty of room for a larger group, wonderful hosts who went out of their way to accommodate our needs, incredible proximity to the ocean and a fantastic beach. The building could use some updating but is still very comfortable with everything we needed for cooking and comfortable sleep.
