Papapa Plantation is situated above the south end of Papohaku Beach, on the West end of Molokai. The house is situated on six private acres landscaped in the beautiful Hawaiian garden style and is adjacent to a bird refuge. The house is approximately 5000 Square feet consisting of four private suites. The suites are in two separate 2-story villas (one up and one down). The villas are located off the northwest and southeast corners of the Ohana (family) house. They are connected to the ohana house via screened-in covered walkways. Each suite contains a king size bed, phone, and private bathroom. The suites are surrounded by large screened-in covered Lanai’s. All four suites also contain an extra rollaway bed, or folding mattress, which are suitable for children. This provides a maximum sleeping capacity of 8 adults and 4 children. All four suites have great ocean views, Lanai chairs and tables.
The ohana house is constructed out of Canadian Cedar in the traditional Hawaiian ‘post and beam’ style. It features 27ft high vaulted ceilings above 14ft high cedar walls, oak and tile floors. In the Great Room there is a large gourmet kitchen with a cook top island overlooking a large dining room and living room area. The kitchen includes a dishwasher, microwave, and refrigerator with a built in icemaker and filtered water dispenser. The kitchen comes with all standard cooking utensils and place settings for up to 16 people. The dining room table can seat 10-12 people. There is also a half bathroom and wet bar located here as well. The initial supply of soap, paper towels and toilet supplies are included. Linens, bath towels and beach towels are also provided. Off the kitchen there is a covered and screened-in Lanai that contains a large gas grill, which overlooks the pool area. In the other direction toward the front porch there is a laundry room with washer and dryer. Other amenities in the main house are as follows: phone/answering machine, Office jet printer with usb cable (copy, fax, scan etc.), 50” Plasma flat screen TV with a DVD/VCR combo, satellite TV via the Direct TV that includes local channels as well as HD channels, A HD-DVR for recording shows, numerous board games, puzzles, library of VHS tapes, and a Sony stereo(includes MP3 connection) with a 5 disc CD player located in the bar area. Speakers are located inside and out so you can listen to your favorite music on the deck or in the pool or Jacuzzi.
There are large covered Lanai’s on both the front entrance and the back of the ohana house. The back covered Lanai overlooks a large deck, a private in-ground swimming pool, Cabana with refrigerator, 6-8 person Jacuzzi spa and a beautiful ocean view of Oahu’s Diamond Head in the distance. It’s also a great place to watch the sunset or stargaze at night. There are numerous Lanai chairs situated all around the pool and deck for relaxing and sunning. The house is on the west end of the island, so you also get to see amazing sunsets from almost anywhere on the property while listening to the ocean waves roll in. Papohaku beach is just down the hill about 300 yards away. It is the largest white sand beach in all of Hawaii, but don’t be surprised to find yourself alone on it. The sand is soft and it is a wonderful place to go watch the surf, and just plain relax. The local people have made it a point to keep development a thing of the future so most of the island (especially the west side) is virtually untouched.

Additional Location Information
15 miles from the main airport (MKK) and 20 miles from Kuanakakai
The photos do not do this place justice. There were 7 of us and and more than plenty of room for all and more. If you fly into Molokai on the evening flight, be sure to go into Kaunakakai and visit Misaki's or the Friendly Market (if they are open later) and the liquor store across the street, before heading out to Papapa. Because once you arrive at Papapa you will not want to leave. It is heavenly. We did several day trips, but was always happy to return to Papapa and enjoy! We swam at Dixie Maru Beach, we snorkeled at 20 Mile Beach, we swam at Halawa Cove (beautiful, must do drive), we took the ferry over to Maui, we took many walks on Papohaku Beach and flew our kite, there are several other beaches to visit and lots of fun exploring to find them. If you are looking for good coffee drinks and free wifi go to the coffee plantation and be sure to have a Mocha Momma...yum! My husband golfed at Ironwood, he enjoyed the course and the relaxed atmosphere. When time allows, we will be back to Molokai. And Papapa would be our only choice for accommodations. It is like staying at your own private resort.
