  Worst vacation rental

  Our rental was from 08/31/2012-09/07/2012. We left early on 09/05/2012. The best part of our vacation was the property location, the docks & the weather. Most everything else was marginal. There is most definately a drainage problem from the obvious debris in the gutters and the dank mildew smell in the house & feeling of dampness. The carpeting was very bad with stains all over in the main living area. In the description it is described as a great room; the area is about 12 x 15 an average size living room. The house was dirty, there were spiders and spider webs everywhere, the kitchen counters were dirty and I had to wash the dishes before we could use them. The screened in porch also was dirty, 2 windows were open and the rest we gave up trying to open. There are ramps at this house all are dangerous when wet, there should be non-slip strips on them. It has wireless internet there, we had to call to get the access code (it should have been in the notebook) however it is unsecured so if you are planning on working from there don't or take your chances. The TV in the master bedroom doesn't work because it needs a "digital box" for the cable service, but if it did viewing a 13" TV from the bed 15 feet or more away would be difficult anyway. Half of the light fixtures either weren't plugged in or had burned out light bulbs. We even had to replace the light bulb in the refrigerator. There is no a/C only a few fans, one which was so dirty I couldn't bring myself to use it. Even a small unit in the main living area would help with the dampness of the house.
  I could go on and on about all the problems this rental has, but suffice it to say it needs a high level of attention to correct all of them. My final thoughts on this if it were my property, I would be ashamed to have guests staying there with it in this condition especially at the rate that is being charged.
  Lastly did we contact the rental company about all the problems? No. Should we have? Yes. But I was so exhausted the last thing I wanted was to call every time a problem arose or deal with someone coming to take care of the things that should have been taken care of in the first place.
