If we were to book Bear Hugs for any other time of the year, other than winter, we do it in a heartbeat, but the road to the house was so slippery that my car could not make it to the top and my grandaughter's 4-wheel drive hit another truck...not a pleasant experience.

Bear Hugs is a comfortable 4 bedroom vacation home on the mountain above Deep Creek Lake in MD. Surrounded by woods it offers privacy and quiet, as well as frequent glimpses of deer.
Railey Mountain is terrific to rent from, they are extremely service oriented. We've had three years of great experiences with them. -

After much review I decided that Bear Hugs would be the place that I would
pop the question and the setting (roaring fireplace) and the seclusion from
others made or a great romantic weekend that as we reflect as husband and
wife cherish greatly.
Loved the house, loved the hot tub under the stars and the views are
incredible. Only drawback was the steep driveway after an ice storm the night
before our departure. -

We have a pleasant enough stay with the exception that it became bitter cold and extremely windy so we couldn't enjoy the hot tub. The house offers an inviting living area with a log burning fireplace which we did thoughtly enjoy while watching the winds howl outside. None of the rooms have a master bath so this house is really great for a family or maybe two couples (I know there are 3 bedrooms but only 2 bathrooms and we do not like sharing a bathroom with non-family members.

We've been renting Bear Hugs for 6 years - my kids love it. We rented another place one year because it wasn't available the week we usually go - next year we changed our vacation date just so we could come back to Bear Hugs.
The new hot tub is great after a day on horseback or swimming at Herrington Manor.
We've added a long weekend in the winter to our plans - the cabin rocks in the winter - nothing better than sitting in the tub and watching it snow after a day at Wisp, or sledding at Herrington Manor. -
