Your customer service at the realty office needs some work. There is some confusion and communication problems that we experienced during our check in and check out procedures, but we loved the house.

Nice House But Not on Lake
Left on 02/12/2011 for a stay in January 2011 | Vienna VA Dad
We had 3 families with teenagers staying at Panacea for a long ski weekend. The house is a short drive from the slopes and is in good shape.
Our biggest complaint is that the house is advertised as lake front, but in reality it's not. There is supposedly a trail that leads from the house down to the lake between other houses, but we couldn't find it. The view from the back of the house is of woods and another house between you and the lake.
The other thing you should know is that the driveway is quite steep downhill and pretty long. Parking at the bottom during the winter is best done with an 4wd car only.

Review of the house

Overall the house is comfortable, in terms of bed room and living space, but the amenities are terrible.
Following are the things that needs impovement/fix.
1. Cd playes two but none of them work
2. Microwave switches off every 2 mins and the plug gets real hot
3. Toilets don't flush properly.
Major issue for us was the house was listed as lake front, but there is no lake close by.. its atleast 1/4 mile walk from back of the house to reach the dock slip.
Few good things about the property:
1. Lots of space in front of the house so its really good for kids to play.
2, Huge deck both levels.. so really nice to sit outside in the evenings.
Neighbours are not friendly.

The house itself was nice. It was classified as lakefront, but we did not consider it lakefront. There were 2 houses in between Panacea and the lake and you had to walk quite a way through others properties to get to the lake. There were several entries in the guest book from 2-3 years back complaining about the location.
The previous owners dirty laundry was on our front porch when we arrived and was never taken away.
Very relaxing with beautiful lakeside scenery.

This was our second stay at the Panacea. We love the location at the top of Marsh Hill road. The house is very comfortable and roomy enough for our extended family of 8 people. The amenities at the Panacea more than met our needs. We stayed at the Panacea in 2007 and we noted that the house has received few, if any, upgrades during the past 3-years. Among other things, some of the furniture is getting threadbare and all of the carpet needs to be replaced. For $3,000+ per week, one would expect minor improvements to be standard protocol. Also, the roadside trash cans (two) are not nearly enough for large groups. The trash cans were full at the beginning of our stay (Saturday) and we ran out of room by Friday. Also, the dock area needs some work. The slips are becoming waterlog and are not particularly stable. Although we checked-in at the prescribed 4:00 PM target on 7-17, the housekeeping staff was still working when we arrived at the house. Aside from these suggestions and minor complaints, our stay was most enjoyable overall.
Enjoyable, relaxing but a little disappointed at the same time

My family and friends took advantage of the Memorial Day special, which was well worth it. We needed a six bedroom and rented panacea which was described as being lake front. It was hardly lake front. Having several children and a few older adults we had a hard time spending any time on the water because the walk to the water was too far from the house to spend any time down their which was very disappointing. The description in the book should not say lake front. It should say very woodsy.
Nice place for the holiday

The home was very clean, however the bedrooms were advertised incorrectly. Double beds instead of queens and kings. The home needed some updates including decor and T.V's. The driveway was not plowed and we had a hard time getting to the home. The home was not lake front as advetised. The location was nice, close to the Wisp resort. The hot tub was very nice and the kitchen was updated. The masterbedroom was very chilly as well as the downstairs bedroom. All and all a well maintained nice home.
Cheap amenities in this home tv, cd player, master shower, hot H

Really nice home but very cheap amenities, the cheapest I ever seen actually. The
kitchen table didn't even have matching chairs. This home has a lot of potiential but is
in dire need of a make over. 6 bedroom house with only 3 TV's the largest being 19'.
The BBQ grill is broken along with the CD players. Nice jacuzzi in Master suite, but
you can't use it because it's not enough hot water to fill the tub up. Master shower
has really low water pressure and gets cold fast. Some parts of the house really hot
while some parts really cold ie. Master bedroom. The home was fully equipped in the
kitchen which was good, very nice. Great hot tub outside! Riley Mtn. Vacation was
great last year but only ok this year other than the fact they forgot the leave our keys
in the nite drop box along with another guests keys. Luckly an employee decided to
stay late that evening who was able to help us (wow). Other than that, my visit was
ok. I'll probably go to Gatlinburg next year.
Our stay at Panacea

We enjoyed our vacation. We really would have liked to see the lake more from the home because a few people were not able to walk through the woods. The only real issue I had was at the visitors center my son tripped walking in the doorway and I feel between the doors. We are considering a future vacation there.

1) I was told the house was lake front, not so!. I specifically called prior to renting and asking that the house was close enough to the water to bring kayaks down to the dock. I was told that the water was close enough to do that. When we got there it was truly a pain to get 2 kayaks down to the water through this little narrow path that was much longer than was told to me on the phone. Not to mention we could not see the water from the house AND we could not see our kayaks from the house as to make them less secure. This house should be listed as lake access... not lake front.
2) House was tidy, not clean. Lots of corners in the kitchen had crumbs and spills.
3) Hot tub was not clean. Lots of scum on the water when jets were turned on. The woman came to clean the hot tub mid-week, which seemed to help but I felt the tub water was not clean.
4) A bag of dirty laundry sat on the front porch of this house the entire week we were there. Nice.
I realize this home was listed a bit cheaper than most homes of its size. I did however make these comments known on the check out sheet when I turned the keys in. I expected a follow-up phone call, which I never received.
1) One positive about the house, the tickets to use the Sports Center for white-water rafting was an excellent bonus. We used it several times.
