Silver Spring, MDHot-tub fail and mice!
Left on 02/09/2011 for a stay in January 2011
We stayed in the cabin for two nights mid-January 2011. The location is great - very close to wisp, restaurants, grocery etc. The cabin is cute and comfortable however we had two major issues. 1) The hot-tub was not heating properly the first night we were there. We discovered this at 7pm on Saturday evening and when we called Raley realtors to get someone out to look at it we received an after hours message. When we called the emergency line we were told that the cell phone was disconnected! Very frustrating especially since we paid more money for a smaller cabin just so we could have a hot tub! When maintenance visited the next day the gentleman explained that the water level in the hot tub was low and therefore the water was not circulating properly through the heater. At these prices I think that a maintenance check should be performed on the hot tub at each turnover of the property. The issue was resolved on Sunday but my husband and I noticed that the water in the tub had a strong moldy smell.
2) We had mice in the cabin. Given that the king sized bed is located in the kitchen - this was a major issue and I found it hard to get a wink of sleep the first night because I kept hearing mice rustling though bags of chips and other goodies stored on top of our fridge. Again, I think the property management company should place traps around the property to get contol of the situation because I am sure that all of the units are infested since there is no storage space for food, yet I'm sure lots of folks bring snacks and other food items into the unit. -

Silver Spring, MDLovely Cabin/ Infected Hot Tub
Left on 01/05/2011 for a stay in December 2010
I had a lot of ups and downs with my experience at Railey Moutain Lake Vacations.
First, I was notified that my payment hadn't gone through but the computers were down so I wasn't able to make a payment until I checked out. That wasn't a huge issue. They let me check in early for free.
The cabin seemed new and had more amenities than I would anticipate in a small cabin. 6 of us stayed in a cabin with a loft. I would suggest that there be a portable kitchen counter space. It was hard to dry dishes, use the panini maker, and prepare food on the small counter space provided.
We were mostly excited about the hot tub. None of us had ever been in one. Unfortunately, 5 of us decided to go into the hot tub, and the 2 days later, 4 of us realized that we had tub folliculitis. It was very disgusting experience. If that hadn't happened, we would have had a perfect night at the Deep Creek.Response from Railey Mountain Lake Vacations - 01/05/2011

Staff always very nice and helpfull. Maintainance was great but the bed in the livingroom, the sofa cama was not confortable at all. when you lay down the bars (that make the bed) stuck into your ribs. The matress was not acceptable. Big difference from the other beds.

AbingdonThe activities and Log cabin was the Best.
Left on 10/22/2010 for a stay in October 2010
The area is good, the activities was wonderful, the resturants were great, the lake is beautiful and the log cabin was nice, romantic, spacious, clean, accomodating but poor Quality in the make of the King size bed which made my spouse and i very uncomfortable for two night of our stay. It also gave us physical back discomfort until we returned home to realize why we were so tired. Also appreciating our King size bed at home. We sure didn't expect to go on an expensive vacation and sleep in discomfort. Maintinance did come and attempt to solve the problem, which did help but the damages were already done. Our overall stay was good though and planning to return for colder weather activities as long as we are accomodated for the two sleepless nights. Also we were waiting for a call from manager Tammy, but she has neglected to contact us with an outcome. Hope to here from someone soon, and thanks alot.

Check-in was easy and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We asked for restaurant reccommodations and were provided with a menu guide as well as a number of verbal recommendations which were very helpful. The property was nice, conveniently located and very clean. The bed was comfortable and kitchen amenities were great and the towels were large and good quality.
The only negative would be that it was very dark inside the cabin. There were no windows on the side walls and as a result little light entered the cabin. It would be helpful to have additional inside lighting (floor lamps, higher wattage bulbs, etc.) as it created a somewhat gloomy atmosphere with the limited lights in the rooms even during daylight hours.
Also, we were provided free Dvds upon arrival but the property did not have a DVD player. It would have been better not to offer this service at all for this particular property. -

The home was charming, problem was when using the hot tub there is absolutely no privacy. There should be some sort of fold away screening device to offer privacy. We, my sister and grandaughter were next door to a young couple who we knew wanted a little privacy, to help them out we left the hot tub cover on its side somewhat. Then, there were nice, I understand we are in the woods, but I don't think so. There was a large tic in my bed, if pets use these cabins please advise the guests. The view from up there was awesome, it was located close to amenities and the price was right. Well there you have it. See you next time, but not at the lodge. Margaret

accomidations were perfect except for the King Bed
downstairs. It was very uncomfortable ! The Bed is horrible, and it is impossible that you havent gotten similar complaints regarding that bed, prior to this review. I
would stay in the same unit if you removed that bed, and replaced it with a newly purchased one!!! -

New Windsor, MarylandGreat cabin!

The service was great. There was a lot of snow that weekend and we were really impressed by how often the plows came by and how well they did with snow removal so we could get in and out easily. The home was beautiful. Everything was brand new, and it was nice and cozy, perfect for a little ski weekend. And it was just a few minutes from the skiing also. It could not have been better.

Bethel Park, PennsylvaniaA great overnight stay!!
Left on 01/27/2010 for a stay in January 2010
We enjoyed our one night stay! It was close to the Wisp where most of our party enjoyed the slopes! It was also close to restaraunts and shopping and the grocery store! It was very neat and clean! The hot tub was a bit small, but we made due! Also, 2 TV's were very close together and the remotes kept turning the station on the other TV. Overall, we had a great time!
