Cottage Profile One of the original waterfront properties at Sunnyside, this three bedroom, 1100 sq ft cottage is located on a rare and beautiful section of sandy beach just 8.1 km north of Meaford on the shores of Nottawasaga Bay. The cottage is nestled in a stand of cedars, and its eastern view allows you to take in some of the most breathtaking sunrises in Ontario. The grounds, deck and shore are all available for your use. The combined living room/dining room/kitchen has a commanding picturesque view of the beach and water. Step out to the wide wooden deck overlooking beautiful Georgian Bay. Choose a deck chair or eat your lunch at the pi...cnic table. Relax with a book and a cold drink while the waves lap the shoreline, or wade into the lake for a cooling dip. The living room features seating focused around a red-bricked fireplace to take the chill off on those cool summer and fall nights. There is a couch, leather chair, and settee along with a 21"screen television, radio, DVD player, and Playstation 2 console. A nearby games cabinet provides even more entertainment options. Reclaimed wood and stained glass pieces, including several arch topped doors, add character and warmth to the cottage. Adjacent to the living area is a large wooden dining table that seats 4-6 people and has a wonderful view out to the bay. Food preparation is in the fully equipped kitchen, where you will find a fridge, stove, microwave and oven. An entire wall of cabinets and cupboards, centered around a double sink and counters, allow preparation of all your meals. The 3 bedrooms are on both the lower and upper floors. The main floor Bedroom 1 is a double bed off the living room. Bedrooms 2 and 3 are upstairs each with a Juliette balcony and a queen bed-Bedroom 2 faces the lake and sunrises, while Bedroom 3 faces west for catching the afternoon sun through the cedars. A spacious 2 piece bathroom, serves the upstairs bedrooms. A 4-piece bathroom (toilet, sink and tub/shower) services the main floor. Shady grounds surround the rear of cottage. There is a large gravel drive with parking for 2 cars, allows you to drive right up to the door of the cottage for unpacking. The side bin by the house holds assorted outside toys and equipment for your use. There is a propane BBQ located on the deck. Take your cooked meals inside to the dinner table or dine on the deck while overlooking beautiful Georgian Bay. Entry into the sand beach is ankle deep, with a wide sandy area that's gentle on the feet. The water is cold but sparkling clear with good swimming. If you're fishing aficionado, you could try your luck with the rainbow trout. They are some of Georgian Bay's finest! There is a large firepit on the beach for hot dogs or marshmallow roasting. The evening skies often provide clear and breathtaking views of the stars. Talk your morning jog or cycle along the quiet cottage road it's hard packed gravel and quiet, especially good for young children or beginner cyclists. For more bicycling in the area, paved rural roads are just a short distance away. Alternatively, drive into town and stroll around the harbour and marina or bring your bicycles and ride along the Georgian Trail (the old rail line) to Collingwood. The cottage is located within a 10-minute drive of the Town of Meaford with its shops, fine dining (Reed’s Restaurant and Bar – formerly the Backstreet Cafe), museum and live theater (Georgian Festival). On Wednesday nights, take in Jam Nite at the infamous Ted’s Range Road Diner (). Nearby Owen Sound (15 minutes away) has museums (Grey Roots and Marine and Rail). Neither dogs nor smoking is permitted inside the cottage.

  very nice and clean cottage, beach is private and beautiful.Water in august was unfortunately too cold to swim.
  Kids had fun with beach toys.
  Canoe would be nice addition to the beach fun.
  Loved the porch, reading was favorite past time.
  Used fire-pit twice to roast marshmallows and potatoes.

  Best swimming on Georgian Bay

  Very comfortable, well-equipped cottage right on the beach. For once, the water had a sandy bottom and was easy to access. Great swimming for adults. Close to lovely Meaford and nearby towns. Firepit on the beach was an added bonus.

  The house was very cozy and the lake sight wonderful, we spent two unforgettable weeks of peace in a fantastic place. We fell in love with Meaford a nice town with everything you need.

  Cottage was super clean and comfortable. Kitchen was
  very well equipped with the exception of the broken
  toaster and although it wasn't swimming season the
  beach is just steps from the front deck. Met the
  owner's father on the last day when he was overseeing
  some roof repairs. As we were heading home he
  recommended a good spot for breakfast in Thornbury.
  It turns out we left something behind and his wife
  tracked us down at the restaurant and he drove out to
  deliver the forgotten item. All in all a great stay.
