Cottage Profile Meaford Sunrises! This is a large 2400 sq ft. three bedroom cottage located in the shores of Georgian Bay approximately 8.5km north of downtown Meaford. The cottage is a spacious, open concept with vaulted ceilings and skylights. There are wideplank hardwood floors throughout. The grounds (80 ft wide lot), decks and shore are all available for your use. The living room/dining room has walkout sliding glass door onto the wrap-around wooden deck overlooking the beautiful Georgian Bay. Step out, settle into a deck chair and relax with a book and a cool drink while the waves lap the shoreline. From here you can take in some of the... most breathtaking sunrises ever seen. Walk down to the lake for a cooling dip or just enjoy the suns warm rays as you wait, with your coffee, for the rest of the household to rise. The cottage is nestled in a stand of cedars and has a deep rock drainage creek running diagonally through the property. Provided there is water (the creek drys in the heat of summer), let the children play with their boats in the shady creek or watch them frolic in the waters of the lake on a warm, dog day afternoon. Entry into the limited sand beach is ankle deep. The water is cold but sparkling clear with good swimming. There is a small sandy area, however, due to the rocky shoreline, watershoes are recommended for greater comfort. Toss in a line off the stone groyne if you're fishing aficionado - the rainbow trout are some of Georgian Bay's finest! The living room is furnished with a couch, 2 chairs, large screen television, and a radio. The TV has satellite programming. In the corner is a woodstove to take the chill off on those cool summer and fall nights. A skylight provides warm rays of sunshine on those bright days. Adjacent to the living area is a large wooden dining table that seats 8 with a wonderful view out to the bay. Food preparation is in the adjoining fully equipped kitchen. You will find a fridge, stove, microwave and oven. There is lots of counter space to prepare great meals. The living room has two skylights which, along with eastward facing wall of windows, allow natural sunlight to fill the room. Pick your sunbeam! The bedrooms are on 2 levels with the main floor bedroom (Bedroom #1) having 2 twins off the living room. A 3-piece bathroom (toilet, sink and shower) service the main floor. Bedroom 2 and 3 are on the upper level accessed by a landing overlooking the living area. Bedroom 2, the master bedroom, has a queen size bed and ensuite bathroom. Closet space is ample. Bedroom 3 sleeps 4 in 2 single bunkbeds and a twin with single trundle bed. Again, a large closet is present. The upstairs ensuite bathroom is attractively decorated and very modern. You will find a toilet, sink and tub-surround (with shower and bathtub). Laundry facilities are also provided in the basement. A basement rec room may be used for the children’s game area. Many board games are provided along with several video games for play on the downstairs TV. A basement walkout permits you to quickly get in out of the sun and into the coolness of the basement. Magnificent luscious grounds surround the cottage. There is a large gravel drive with parking for 3 cars on the road side of the cottage. There is a propane BBQ located adjacent the deck. Take your cooked dinner inside to the dinner table or take in a great meal on the deck while overlooking beautiful Georgian Bay. Make sure to close the umbrella at night as the winds can be strong. That same wind makes for world class windsurfing if you brought yours along! Atop the shoreline break-wall, you will find a firepit on Georgian Bay for the evenings marshmallows. The evening sky’s are open and provide a breathtaking view of the stars. After supper, consider a stroll along the quiet cottage road. Alternatively, drive into town and stroll around the harbour and marina or bring your bicycles and ride along the Georgian Trail (the old rail line) to Collingwood. The cottage is located within a 10-minute drive of the Town of Meaford with its shops, fine dining (Back Street Cafe), museum and live theater (Georgian Festival). Nearby Owen Sound (15 minutes away) has museums (Grey Roots and Marine and Rail). Bicycling in the area is good. Most of the rural roads are paved and many follow the Georgian Bay shoreline. Regrettably, neither dogs nor smoking is permitted within the cottage.

  We have rented this cottage several times. It has a super layout that is great as it allows for full view of the lake. All the amenities are there for you to enjoy your stay. Basement area is quite large with a game table so that's great for kids. Back yard is also flat with grass and great for kids to play. Area is very quite and for family walks or exercise minded, you can go for walks down the lane, around and back. Town shopping is only 15 minutes away so you can pickup any groceries on the way in or anytime you need them.
  
  Georgian/Nottawasaga Bay water is on the cool side, so your usually swimming late morning, mid afternoon. The temp will vary during the summer so you'll need to figure out what works best for you. Its a little rocky at entrance, but once your in the water, its crystal clear and perfect for swimming 5ft+ deep close to shore. We went swimming pretty much every day. We happened to be there when there was a full moon, and as you can see from the pic, its quite nice as it lights up the night.
  
  This cottage has a nice deck view and great reclining deck chairs. If you have small kids you'll need to pay close attention to them on the deck.
  
  We have rented all around Ontario in the last 15 years and clean up rules for the cottage or garbage protocols are same as others. No issue with that. You may need to get a garbage tag at the local store if you are there on a week were there is no pickup. However, the transfer station is quite close.
  
  Overall, top notch property and great cottage. All up ranks high for us for Canada/us cottage/summer retreat experiences. We enjoyed our stay.

  A Cozy Week with an alarming End!

  First i have to say...Overall, your rental property is truly lovely...
  My young family and I were more than comfortable and pleasantly surprized with the accomidations during our stay in lovely Meaford. After most of the week was up my husband set off home with the children to allow me to clear things away and close up. I worked for a few hours,which is fine, to tidy up , and put things away. After 10 am I made a point of reviewing the cottage manual to make sure all was complete and in order. To my surprize, upon reviewing fine notations in the manual regarding cleaning...I noticed an additional
  60$+ billing fees for even so much as unkept floors, kitchen and bathroom surfaces and garbage disposal...Here it is then...I have managed short and long term housing for years... Long and`` Extreme`` cleaning, accompanied by a long journey home as a guest, left a ``very`` sour taste in my mouth...Note:We were bearly there most of the time.
  I not only had to vacate the property late but I had to deal with
  `` animal contained garbage`` as I was greeted by a pleasant house keeper! Why with such stipulations must you hire house keeping...House keeping or other staff are hired to clean! Not just throw towels in the washing machine. Most of which I did all week myself!!! I can understand tidy, and in order but please be reasonable... You have a great!! property, don`t spoil it! Use your staff accordingly and your guests will want to return! People rent--- not to own... in this case I would be entised to buy my own cottage...Sincerely, A Once happy yet Frustrated Guest!

  Thank you for your comments. We do ask our renters to clean the cottage at the end of their stay as in these rural areas cleaning services are not readily available. The owner or someone the owner has hired checks the cottage between rentals to ensure the cottage has been left clean and ready.
  We do tell each of our renters that the cottage is to be cleaned at the end of their stay at the time of booking and again in the confirmation and final letter we send out. The cleaning list is also available at anytime in the Houserules on the individual cottage profile.

  We spent a week at this lovely location. The spacious floor plan and
  comfortable furniture made our stay all the more enjoyable.The kitchen layout
  and appliances were a plus.
  
  The property located on Georgian Bay was well maintained and inviting. Sitting
  out in a Muskoka chair by the water was most relaxing.
  
  A great place to spend some time.

  Modern summer home on beautiful Georgian Bay

  This is a lovely, modernly equipped, spacious home right on the water. Great
  views even from the skylights on the second level. Having two complete
  bathrooms,one on each level, was especially nice for the needs of four adults.
  The step-in shower and bedroom on the first level made it particularly handy
  for an elderly person. The kitchen was very well equipped, the dining room
  table was large and with a view and the living room was comfortable with a
  cozy wood burning stove. The wrap around deck with umbrella table was great
  with lots of places to sit in the sun and shade.
  The home is situated between Owen Sound and Collingwood right outside
  Meaford so there are lots of places to explore: restaurants, shops, summer
  theatre, local market, hiking trails, the Blue Mountains, kayak rentals, etc.
  We loved the space, setting, views and the water for swimming. What we
  didn't like was the difficult access to the water and beach area . Also the
  barbecue should have been situated on the deck near the patio table and off
  the kitchen. This place is better suited for adults, not families.

  Great central location for us, as we travelled around.
