Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Additional Location Information
St Kilda, with a population of 16,122, is located 6km south from Melbourne's CBD. St Kilda was named after a ship, the ‘Lady of St Kilda’, which moored at the main beach for much of 1841. During the Edwardian and Victorian eras, St Kilda became a favoured suburb of Melbourne's elite, and many palatial mansions were constructed along its hills and waterfront. Post WWII, St Kilda became Melbourne's red-light district. In recent years, St Kilda has experienced gentrification. Now St Kilda is one of Melbourne’s premier and most expensive suburbs. St Kilda is home to many of Melbourne's famous visitor attractions including Luna Park, the Esplanade Hotel, Acland Street and Fitzroy Street. It is home to St Kilda Beach, Melbourne's most famous beach, several renowned theatres and several of Melbourne's big events and festivals.

What Past Guests Are Saying
Great place to stay will return
Lovely clean apartment in a great spot. The ease of dealing with espresso apartments was fantastic.
Great location, great apartment, lack of cleanliness
Great apartment! It was a bit dirty inicially, which was a pitty. The couch was full of food crumbs and trash. And the bathroom needed a clean.
The Espresso apartment admin team was very helpfull and fast in answering all our questions and problems.
"The" place to stay !
Right from when we rang to book our stay the service received was excellent. The apartment was right in the centre of St Kilda, the "hub" of the entertainment area of Melbourne - excellent food, wine, shopping - you name it, it was there ! The apartment was very well set up - a home away from home right down to the coffee machine !The worst thing was having to drive home (6 long hours)! We will definitely stay with Espresso apartments again.

me and my girl friend enjoyed have this place for our holiday.
ddd Very good
Have already recommended Espresso apartments to friends. Apartment was clean, modern, had everything we needed & was so close to shops & transport. Loved it...
Great location for a true st Kilda experience
A bit small (we had 1.5 bedroom apartment), but great location - right near main strip in st Kilda. Good security / safety in building, but a bit noisy at nights as we were on the first floor - but it's expected for the location. Easy walk to Luna park, beach/marina & playground.
Fantastic but service was poor
The apartment and location was excellent I would recommend the stay to anyone, all you could want in St Kilda.
However our personal service experience was well below par, when we arrived I contacted the Expresso apartments after hours number to report we couldnt get into the apartment, there was a problem with the door lock. We stood in the hallway for 15 mins trying every combination with our unit door. No one fixed the lock the next day as they promised, the room was serviced with no repair to the door or even a spare key, (if the key was the problem). We experience another lengthy wait when we returned the following day which was so frustrating. As it was a double lock, unfortunately we had to tape the top lock so were able to access the unit. At no stage did any maintenance arrive during our stay even though we reported this problem twice.
Response from Espresso Apartments - 06/17/2012
We apologise that you had issues with access to the apartment during your stay. At Espresso we strive to achieve excellent service standards at all times. We absolutely always do our best to ensure any maintenance/access issues are dealt with as swiftly as possible.
We apologise this did not happen on this occassion.

Great place to stay!
Great place to stay, great location St Kilda, everything you need, very clean. Loved it and would recommend to anyone!
Great location, nice apartment
We stayed in a 1.5 bedroom apartment for one week with our three year old son. The location in St Kilda was great - a short walk to the tram, shops, beach and two playgrounds/parks. The tramride into the city took longer than staying somewhere more central but this was part of the fun for us.
The apartment itself was compact, clean and tidy. It suited our needs perfectly having cooking facilities, washing machine and a bath. It was great having a bedroom with a single bed for our son and a balcony to watch the world go by. The TV screen was huge and the aircon appreciated on hot mornings/evenings.
There were a few little blips with the apartment: the front door lock stopped working the second time we went out and we had to sit in the hallway with a tired three year old until an emergency locksmith came. The apartment manager responded promptly with this but it took another two days for the lock to be properly fixed. The kitchen needed some extra bits like bigger bowls, another chopping board and perhaps more storage to make it easier to work with. And there was nowhere to hang clothes once washed (- we used the ironing board and chairs to hang things on.) The shelves in the main bedroom wardrobe were wonky and not properly fitted and there was no landline (which we weren't aware of before arriving.) It was also hard to get one set of keys to open the main door to the apartment building.
The Espresso apartment team were helpful before and during our stay and we would recommend them as a port of call for others going to Melbourne on holiday. We were pleased we hadn't paid full price for our apartment but overall it was a good place to stay and we would recommend it to others with a small child.

Great spot, price and perfect for our trip
We had a month long visit to Melbourne, and absolutely loved St.Kilda.
Now, it's busy, bustling with activity & a little noisy yes - not for someone who is looking for peace and quit - however for those looking to experience a great atmosphere, with a tons to do being very close to everything Melbourne has to offer. Add to that some very cool places to visit and great cafe's & pubs. The Epsy (gotta go to the Epsy) very rock'n'roll, the Esplanade on Sunday is amazing as is the bustle on a Saturday night along acland St... and then there is the bakeries there too - yummy!
The 220 Barkly apartments and Espresso services are excellent. Very clean, very modern and very equipped for short or longer stays. Nice size for two people. We had a full kitchen, with modern appliances & entertainment setup. To be honest I didn't really have to call Espresso except to ask about Wifi... no worries at all!
