Local Area Notes
A seaside resort for Melbournians in Queen Victoria's era, later a notorious red-light district, St Kilda is home to many of Melbourne's rising creative stars and professionals. Drawn by the many funky bars, outstanding restaurants and eclectic shops, this well-heeled crowd has brought an influx of spending power that's transformed a once neglected seaside suburb into Victoria's unchallenged ‘Capital of Cool'.
The world-famous patisseries, the landmark Edelweiss Delicatessen and the popular Sunday art-and-craft market on the Esplanade are all still here and still thronged with customers.
But many hip newcomers have added to the vibrant cosmopolitan mix - sophisticated drinking spots, cozy and enticing restaurants, haute couture and New Age fashion outlets, Internet cafes, live music venues, the new Farmer's Market - and much more.
St Kilda offers an endlessly fascinating pot-pouri of modern pop and café culture, enhanced for people-watchers by a constant stream of sometimes eccentric, always colorful characters and Beautiful People from all over the globe.
There are so many interesting things in St Kilda, the Esplanade Markets, ride the roller coaster at Luna Park, have coffee and cake in Acland Street, dine at one of the many restaurants in Fitzroy Street, or catch the ferry to Williamstown from St Kilda pier. There is also Albert Park Lake, St. Kilda Beach, cycle and roller-blading tracks that go on forever, and the cinemas & live theatre. The list of attractions goes on an on.
If you're in Melbourne on a working holiday, St Kilda is a great place to base yourself. It is serviced by three major tram routes but if you must drive there's plenty of parking – or why not work up a healthy appetite for some of our great food - walk along the beach from Port Melbourne past Middle Park and enjoy the sweeping views of Port Phillip Bay!

Gold CoastGreat location in St Kilda
Left on 03/04/2013 for a stay in March 2012
Catani 2 is a great apartment, well located close to cafe/restaurants, the beach and train lines.
The apartment was secure, clean and tastefully decorated, and was equipped with all that is needed for a self contained unit.
We have re-booked for the next year's trip and recommended to our friends.

Secure apartment building, secure parking, wonderfully equiipped apartment, perfect position, in a leafy part of ackland Street, just so convenient to the beach, pier, shops, restaurants. Wandered down the historic St Kilda Pier at dusk to see the penguins on the rock wall, and the sunsets...breathtaking!. Six lovely weeks spent welcoming our first grandchild and enjoying all the area has to offer in a warm, comfortable, perfectly located and maintained apartment.
Thanks Chris, a credit to you. -

My stay at Catani 2 was great and well suited for my family and my needs.
It was close to the beach and lots of choices for dining and would stay again.
The best part is that it is pet friendly.

We stayed in this apartment while in between houses and whilst getting work done on our new property. Chris was a godsend taking us on on short notice and allowing us to be flexible and extend as we needed. The flat itself was lovely, clean and had all the amenities needed to live comfortably. We lived in St Kilda so knew the area and were pleased to be able to stay in our hood before heading onto our new property. Our dog loved it too! Highly recommended.

Left on 07/04/2012 for a stay in May 2012
My husband and I stayed at the Majestic Tuscany StayCentral flat for a few weeks when we first arrived in Melbourne from overseas. The flat was great - clean, safe and very pratical for a new comer to Melbourne. It's location on Fitzroy St is best if you wish to go and explore Melbourne, with direct trams to the CBD and other areas. The flat is also close to many wonderful cafes, restaurants and bars to choose from. Finally, you are only 10mins walk to the beach, so in other words everything required for a great stay in Melbourne is on the doorstep. We highly recommend StayCentral, it's accommodation, it's services and Chris's (the owners) willingness to help.

Left on 06/15/2012 for a stay in April 2012
We stayed here for over 2 months while on a 12 month work contract and enjoyed the whole experience. It was located within a leisurely 20 minute walk to work or a 2 minute walk to the tram routes. The 1 bedroom apartment had all quality furnishings, with comfortable queen size bed, modern bathroom/laundry, sofa-bed style lounge and LCD TV & DVD player and balcony. The kitchen was small, with limited cupboard space but had all mod cons. Car parking was free, secure & undercover. Additional undercover parking was available free of charge if required. The apartment was pet-friendly and we took advantage of this, and brought our small dog down from country NSW for a 2 week visit to the big-smoke. We all enjoyed walks in the nearby parks & gardens & along St Kilda pier. I would recommend this apartment to both vacationers and workers who wanted a clean, comfortable apartment in a secure, quiet, small block of units that was still close to the action of cafes & shops of acland & Fitzroy St.

Left on 06/01/2012 for a stay in January 2012
In a quiet, leafy hip part of St Kilda, we enjoyed the location with all the great coffee shops, restaurants, shops and seaside entertainment that St Kilda has to offer. Also a quick convenient public transport to the city with the tram service within walking distance. The apartment itself was comfortable, compact and had everything you need to come home to after a day out. We had great and attentive service by the owner and would come back again to enjoy city time.

My wife & I (and our 2 dogs) have stayed at these St Kilda apartments on 3 occasions, for about 6 weeks each stay. The apartments are always clean, well appointed, and any problems are always dealt with swiftly and professionally. We love the vibe that St Kilda offers, and also the fact that it is also handy to the centre of Melbourne. I would recommend these apartments to anyone wanting a short or long stay in Melbourne. We are returning later this year.

"Catani 2” in acland St is a fantastic apartment, tastefully decorated and equipped, plus relaxing and very comfortable. The apartment being in a secure and private building, which were both really clean and well maintained, we could ask for nothing more for our stay in Melbourne.
Best cafes and restaurants just a couple of minutes walk and tram stops to take you into the city just as close.
Also a short walk down to the St Kilda beach, Catani Gardens and historic jetty made it a perfect location for us. Great apartment, great location. Already booked again for 2013. -

The service from the initial booking through to our stay at the apartment was excellent at all times with frequent clear emails to keep us updated on all aspects of the rental.
The apartment was well furnished, clean had excellent cooking facilities, was well stocked with essentials like oil, salt, pepper and cleaning materials. I was amazed at the generous little touches like a small library of books and Dvds and an umbrella just in case of bad weather and best of all free secure Wifi. The pool was also excellent.
The location was superb with bars, restaurants, shops, tram service and beach all within a few hundred metres.
