Additional Location Information
St Kilda, with a population of 16,122, is located 6km south from Melbourne's CBD. St Kilda was named after a ship, the ‘Lady of St Kilda’, which moored at the main beach for much of 1841. During the Edwardian and Victorian eras, St Kilda became a favoured suburb of Melbourne's elite, and many palatial mansions were constructed along its hills and waterfront. Post WWII, St Kilda became Melbourne's red-light district. In recent years, St Kilda has experienced gentrification. Now St Kilda is one of Melbourne’s premier and most expensive suburbs. St Kilda is home to many of Melbourne's famous visitor attractions including Luna Park, the Esplanade Hotel, Acland Street and Fitzroy Street. It is home to St Kilda Beach, Melbourne's most famous beach, several renowned theatres and several of Melbourne's big events and festivals.

Birmingham, UKComfy beds, secluded garden and good TV
Left on 01/08/2013 for a stay in December 2012
Pleasant villa within a short walk of, many shops, cafes, bars etc and of beach and Lunar Park. Pleasant decor and secluded garden. The most comfortable double bed I've slept in for a while (Please let me know make and model of the bed so that I can buy the same when I come to replacing my own.)
Complimentary internet access would have been nice. -

BrisbaneBrilliant Location, Whole House
Left on 09/06/2012 for a stay in August 2012
You really can't fault this little gem. It is a few steps from an amazing array of acland and Barkly Streets' resturants, cafes and the beautiful St Kilda Botanical Gardens. There are both major supermarkets as well as boutique shopping just a 2 minute stroll from your front door. The beach is really close too, and once you've parked your car, you will never need to use it again during your stay, with transport links abundant.
We travelled with three small children, and the space the house gave us will invaluable. It is quite private, although access is granted to other Espresso apartment guests to you front couryard to retrieve their keys for their stays from a key safe box. This was one of the only negatives in our stay- the feeling of having to keep your front blinds closed at all times, and that someone could potentially come through your front gate at all hours of the night, which meant the noise would disturb the kids at night and that the other guests always left the gate unsecured. Security for the children was my priority. Also, the local noise regulations disallow you from using air conditioner/heater after 10pm and prior to 8am. The neighbours are quick to let you know if you've forgotten the time schedule.
The Espresso apartment staff are really approachable and our booking process was very easy.
The price was really reasonable considering the location and the number in our family.
Also, the house seemed wheelchair friendly, with a very generous central bathroom and laundry.
The photos dipicting the house on the website are a good indicator of the accomadation, although you may not wish to spend too much time in the kitchen anyway. -

London, ukGreat location, comfortable beds, maintenance issues
Left on 09/05/2012 for a stay in August 2012
This was very comfortable accommodation in a great location but our stay was marred by lots of small irritations caused by maintenance issues including that the heating made so much noise outside that it upset the (very polite ) neighbours and we had to turn it off ...not good on a Melbourne winter evening.
We also found several items left behind by previous visitors which suggests a lack of attention to detail in cleaning.
More positively, the beds were warm and cosy and acland street is only a short walk away.Response from Espresso Apartments - 09/09/2012

Left on 07/12/2012 for a stay in June 2012
I came down to Melbourne to see a show and catch up with friends, I'm not one for the cold so when I opened the front door and stepped into a house that was already warm I knew I made the right choice.
You get the key by putting in a code and you're in, easy. It was blustery and cold outside and the house was toasty warm. It is a beautifully renovated original house, very neat, very stylish, big spacious rooms, large bathroom, very comfy lounge, massive TV, new kitchen. The cut out doorway is cool. The people who manage the accom are organised and helpful.
This is a great house to invite friends or business colleagues to and if you want to go out its all just down the road.
Lots of great places to eat nearby you literally just go out the front door turn right walk two minutes and you are there. Great shops and restaurants.
Forget cars and taxis the tram is right there and you can get into town in no time.
I have no problems recommending this accommodation. Enjoy.

AucklandConvenient, spacious and warm.
Left on 06/14/2012 for a stay in May 2012
Booking went smoothly with prompt online response. However restrictions on property were not advised until after pre-payment.
Location is splendid with easy walk to ackland St and public transport.
Smith St has parking restrictions which could be a problem if using a rental car.
Two bedroom apartment was comfortable, roomy and warm. We felt that this property is let down by the kitchen which is poorly built and serviced. Hob top a bit dodgy and cupboard doors badly installed. Not a cutting board in sight nor even any salt and pepper. Just a bit more
attention to detail and you have a winner.
We also felt some up to date information on taxis and airport transportation would have been good.
We received excellent response when we phoned for replacement light
bulbs and an iron that worked.
The best aspects of this accommodation are it's location and warmth.

Sunshine CoastFantastic location and a lovely home
Left on 05/04/2012 for a stay in April 2012
Was very close to acland St restaurants and cake shops. Easy to hop on the tram to the city, but also peaceful. A lovely home full of character, if a little on the brightly decorated side. Had everything we needed. Service was always fast and courteous. A great holiday home.

Hove, UKGreat cottage, in a very handy location, at the end of the tram
Left on 05/03/2012 for a stay in April 2012
Espresso were very efficient and responsive to e-mails. The cottage is beautifully done out, and has all mod cons. Wish we had stayed a week to maximise the feeling of having a home from home. The road itself is an odd mix of very trendy looking houses to more "down at heel" accommodation. The proximity to fantastic eating & drinking places was excellent. The thing I was surprised about, was that there wasn't free Wi-fi, given the rental cost. But, nevertheless, still a lovely place.

Thank you for a fantastic stay! All staff at Espresso apartments were prompt and helpful, and exceeded expectation above and beyond.
The home was beautiful, with very nice furnishings. An excellent style is throughout the house. loved the back garden area also. Whilst being very close to the hustle and bustle, the house itself was very quiet at night.
The location is exceptional, being so close to acland Street bars and restaurants and a short walk to the waterfront. Access to the tram was superb with 2 guests being able to take the bus from airport and connect to tram straight to acland St - a 2 minute walk to the house!
Thank you, will stay again! -

SydneyFabulous location and fantastic family house
Left on 10/05/2010 for a stay in September 2010
We loved this little house in St Kilda. It was the perfect size for our family of four. A little courtyard garden amused our two children aged 4 and 5. The bathroom was enormous and everything was very clean and tidy. The house could do with a full length wardrobe - the overall hanging facilities for clothes would need to be improved if we were staying for longer than a few days. Other than that we couldn't fault the place. Would definitely recommend.

Left on 08/02/2010 for a stay in July 2010
Smith Street was a terrific house for our trip to Melbourne with great heating, comfortable beds, fabulous tv and location. There was a few problems with the condition of the kitchen but this was already discussed by phone. It would be appreciated if the consultant was a bit more specific about parking restrictions when booking and if there were some more basic supplies available. Clients should also be advised to bring their own face sponges.

This apartments does not come with off street parking. However, there is always ample on street parking. Directly outside of the property on the same side of the road as the property is a permit zone and the Council will not permit is to secure a permit of short stay guests. However, accross the road is unrestricted and so too are all streets past the Smith Street / Foster Street intersections. You will always find a parking spot close by.

Left on 07/04/2010 for a stay in May 2010
The house in Smith Street was great. It had everything we required plus more. It was an absolutely delightful house. We had only one very very minor hiccup. Unfortunately after landing in Melbourne one of the numbers was left off our access code so we could get in but it was fixed immediately. Would heartily recommend Espresso aparrtments and will definitely use them again for our next trip to Melbourne.

The house is in a great location, but it really does need a new kitchen. The oven bairly works, and eveything just needs updating. To top it off the Bbqdid not work. Five star price, for three star service.
