Was a fantastic long weekend at 94 Highett Street. Great location, walking distance to Bridge Road and the MCG. Jeff & co were really great to deal with and made booking a breeze. The house was beautiful and the rooms all had great comfy beds. Cant wait to go back.

Third time in Melbourne but the first time at 94 Highett. Wonder why we haven't found this place any earlier as it's just perfect to explore they city. Quite residential location but still just a few minutes on the tram to the CBD. Or if you feel like the beach, a little longer but still direct tram ride to St. Kilda.
We had the huge ground floor unit with more than enough space for us two and enjoyed the quietness. No other guests on the same floor and every unit has it's own entrance, so you can enjoy full privacy until everybody meets up for a chat and a lovely, fresh prepared breakfast in the large kitchen. Jeff is an excellent and more than helpful host who will assist you wherever he can. Once again thanks for storing our bike boxes! We'll definitely be back if we come to Melbourne again sometime in the future.Response from Jeff and Lexie Cheffers - 01/18/2013

Stayed for 3 nights at the 94 Highett B&B.; First time in Melbourne and not familiar with the transport systems and way around. Jeff and Julie were very friendly, hospitable and they gave us plenty of advise on the places we want to go, the trams to take and etc. Jeff even loaned us the Myki cards which we could easily top up at the 7-11 at Bridge Road to take us to CBD which is about 10 minutes by tram. The property is clean and beautiful so comfortable for the 7 of us with a small park opposite where my children enjoyed playing after a day's sightseeing while grandpa and grandma took their evening stroll. There is a Coles nearby where we get all our grocery needs. There are many shops/Restaurants at Bridge Road but unfortunately we do not have time to shop there.
The best part of the stay is the daily cooked breakfast prepared by Jeff for all of us every morning. Bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, orange juice, homemade bread, cappucino and cereals. Yummy breakfast ! my kids remembered it as one of their highlights of their stay in Melbourne i.e the breakfast prepared by Uncle Jeff.
Jeff went all the way to make our stay a comfortable one. He even drove us to the car rental in Palmer Street to collect our rented car on the last day of our stay in Melbourne before we continue our journey to the Great Ocean Road. We were so touched by his kindness and hospitality.
Would highly recommend 94 Highett Street to anyone who needs accommodation near Melbourne CBD especially for families where it would be so much more comfortable to stay together under one roof. -

Stayed here the week of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival with girl friends. We had the bottom part of the house which sleeps 4. I felt like I was at home. Jeff was a great cook as well being very helpful. Nothing seemed to much trouble. Even got the transport card to put some credit on so we could get around for the week we were there. It is so close to everything, Richmond shopping, Chapel Street, Melbourne CBD and all little inner city suburbs.
Thanks for a great week. It will go down as a great week for me!Response from Jeff and Lexie Cheffers - 12/07/2012

94 Highett was the best accommodation my big family and I have ever stayed in Australia! We've been to Sydney and Perth too but neither place beat this accommodation in Melbourne. The property fits my large family of 12 and it felt like home away from home! It had everything a house should have and the location was fantastic too - very strategically located to almost everywhere. My family and I will definitely stay here again should we visit Melbourne. And best of all the owners including Jeff's sister Julie are very warm people. This made our stay more worthwhile.

Left on 12/08/2011 for a stay in November 2011
We spent two nights at 94 Highett in November 2011, travelling in two family groups, including three children under four. We had plenty of space, privacy and very accommodating hosts, which always makes travelling with small children much easier.
We used a combination of the upstairs, downstairs and attic/studio suites and can recommend all three options. The upstairs suite has a main bedroom, a second room (which can be turned into another bedroom or used as a "sitting room"), and a family bathroom, including shower and separate bath. The downstairs suite has two bedrooms (one of which can comfortably fit a portable cot or single foldaway bed), a large bathroom with a spa bath, and a living room. The attic room is quite quirky - it is under the eaves over the garage (which I think used to be a stables or similar when the house was first built?) and has a nice view over the rooftops to the city, as well as access to an outdoor terrace. It has a tiny bathroom (shower and toilet), with the sink separate in the room. The room is small; it is best suited to a single or a couple, but that said, we easily fit a portable baby cot in there. It is not connected to the house's central heating, but there is an air conditioning unit and a column (oil-filled) heater, so you can manage the temperature nicely.
The breakfasts were excellent and included fresh fruit and juice, great coffee, and a range of cooked and continental options. We were able to use the off-street parking, although the location is very central and there are plenty of walking/public transport options.
We felt very welcome at this property and would highly recommend it. The whole house is beautifully appointed, with all the period features, and was a more charming (and cheaper!) option than a sterile hotel. The hosts (Jeff and Lexie) were terrific.Response from Jeff and Lexie Cheffers - 12/10/2011

We completely enjoyed our Melbourne weekend and our stay at 94 Highett. Forget the hotels, coming and going from this place will make you feel like a real Melbournian! It was lovely to walk through the local streets and gardens to destinations such as the Melbourne Museum and nearby shopping and dining - Brunswick Street, Bridge Road, Smith Street etc. After sustaining us with breakfast including eggs cooked to order and Lexie's delicious strawberry jam, Jeff furnished us with bikes, helments and directions and we had a great day exploring inner Melbourne. We stayed downstairs as a couple, but 94 Highett would also be an excellent accommodation choice for a group of friends or family travelling together in that you have your own space and bedroom, but with the amenity of socialising in the cosy lounge room. No question that this B&B; will be first choice for our next visit to Melbourne.

Left on 10/11/2011 for a stay in October 2011
Jeffrey, a fair dinkum aussie bloke, can cook a mighty fine breakfast; freshly squeezed juice (Lexi goes to the local market and picks up fresh fruit which Jeffrey squeezes), homemade bread and a pretty good cappuccino. These are just a few of the unique touches that make this is a very special place to stay. Comfy beds, luxurious spa bath and quite at night to name just a few of the highlights. Jeffrey and Lexi are the perfect hosts and will do anything to make sure you have a comfortable stay. Great location - 10 minutes into the CBD and shops nearby. Jump on one of the bikes provided and ride to one of the river trails.

Canberra, AustraliaPleasant stay in large suite of a charming period house
Left on 10/04/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We (two adults and small child) stayed for three nights in two spacious adjoining rooms. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable with good sheets. Extra pillows and blankets available in the ample sized cupboards. For most of our stay, the weather in Melbourne was atrocious, windy and rainy. The central heating (radiator in each room) at the B&B; kept us snug and toasty though. We appreciated having the wireless internet (for which there was no additional charge) and a TV in each room. The lack of attention to small details, like providing teaspoons and fresh milk each day for making tea/coffee in the room, should be remedied.
Breakfast was provided downstairs in the kitchen, seated with other guests, around a large dining table. It did not match the range of foods pictured on the B&B;'s website. There were only two cereals to choose from (neither of which appealed to children), no pastries or muffins, yogurt or fresh fruit. However, every second day, the manager baked a loaf of wholegrain bread and juiced fresh fruit. The spreads (two jams and peanut butter) supplied were limited and not topped up during our stay. Freshly brewed coffee and a cooked breakfast was provided on request (included in the nightly tariff).
The manager was friendly and chatty and happy to give directions and suggest local cafes and restaurants.
Although located across the road from a tall public housing apartment block, it was very quiet inside. The B&B; is only a couple of blocks from Bridge Road, the famous shopping strip and tram stops. It is easy to get to the MCG where we went to watch an aFL game. The walk to Fitzroy Gardens and the city centre (at a moderate pace) takes between 20-30 minutes. -

We loved our stay at Highett, the advertised pictures give a true indication of the building and furnishings. The place was warm and clean, and had the softest douners that anyone could wish for, I almost would not like to recommend this place as it would be a great secret to keep. John was very helpful and caring toward the needs of our two year old daughter, it was a pleasure to stay in such luxury with such great hosts...
