Singapore, SingaporeStunning property and location
Left on 10/22/2012 for a stay in October 2012
Heath Terrace is lovely, well located near to tram stops, the pretty Port Melbourne suburb and the city in close proximity too. The property is beautifully presented with a thoughtful and useful welcome pack, lovely decor and great outdoor space for Bbq's, etc. Just metres away is the outstanding Little Rose (brunch joint) and Rose restaurant, with fantastic craft beers and outstanding food. The only factor that let the property down was the 1 bedroom, for 6 people - it wouldn't stop me booking the property again but just something to be conscious of. The boutique stays team that we booked through were also fantastic.

Thanks so much for the lovely review. We agree, Heath Terrace is one of our favourites amongst the Boutique Stays team. Just to clarify however that the property has 3 bedrooms but only 1 bathroom (not 1 bedroom!).

yorkshireBeautiful property but very disappointed

Okay, I should warn you up front this is going to be a lengthy review...
This property has some great features; the location is amazing. 5 mins from the tram, 10 mins from the beach and a stones throw from some really great bars and restaurants. The location is quiet and peaceful too.
The property has large spacious rooms, the master bed is so comfy (can't comment on the other beds, didn't sleep in them).
We have had some issues and I'll come onto these in a moment. However before I do I should also say that we addressed these issues in a face to face meeting with The guys at Boutique Stays. During that meeting we were informed the property had been vacant for a while before we arrived and it was cleaned after the last guests left, not before we arrived.
Okay, so the issues;
One of the bedroom window blinds is broken. We were notified of this after our arrival.
The toilet continually flushes, we reported this and we're informed it was a known issue.
We were without heating for 2 days, despite looking for the boiler we couldnt find it. For anyone staying here, the boiler is outside and the pilot light blows out occasionally, it just needs resetting.
The bathroom has black mildew around the outside. The plug doesn't hold the water in, I think the plug is probably from another bath. The shower screen has black mildew, soap scum and hairs around it.
There was a lot of dust and spiders webs in the living room.
The BBQ was dirty from the last time it was used. Featuring thick layers of grease and a touch of mould.
The batteries for the aircon unit had run out, so for 3 days we were without aircon.
The previous occupants (probably around a month ago) had left a vase of flowers which were still here to great us. Obviously them and the water had seen better days. These were promptly moved to a room we weren't using. The water was brown and thick with mould.
Someone had obviously walked past all of this to leave the luxury welcome pack which was great. The coffee is amazing. The toiletries are enough to last a couple of days which is all you need when there is a raft of shops just a few moments walk away.
So, as I said, we phoned, spoke to the guys at boutique stays and even popped to see them to show them a heap of photos we'd taken of the issues mentioned above. They were really welcoming and obviously sorry for the state of the property upon our arrival. They admitted the property is in need of a spring clean and it's just unfortunate this didn't happen before we arrived. We came to an amicable arrangement with boutique stays and they have been very friendly, gracious and professional throughout.
For what it's worth, this is a beautiful property, I think we have just been unlucky.Response from Boutique Stays - 09/17/2012

Yes, unfortunately we accidentally missed a scheduled pre-arrival check which would have remedied all of these issues prior to Tony and Helen arriving and hence did not have this property ‘guest’ ready on this occasion. Suffice to say this won’t happen again!
However, when you mess up, it’s important to acknowledge this and do whatever is needed to rectify the situation. Tony and Helen agreed that they were 100% satisfied with how we handled this situation, but sadly have only mentioned this right at the very end of their review, and have still scored us very poorly overall.
We encourage readers to read all the way down to the end of Tony & Helen's review, plus have a read of all the other very positive reviews for Heath Terrace, and then have a read of the reviews for our other 30+ properties that we manage to reassure you that this is very much not the norm for us here at Boutique Stays. We have a very strong record for housekeeping and property management, achieving in excess of 9 out of 10 across the Boutique Stays portfolio, as reflected in the other reviews.
For future guest’s information, we provide an emergency contact number for afterhours use 7 days a week, which wasn’t used on this occasion. We agree that guests should not be without mandatory facilities such as heating, but pilot lights can sometimes go out in strong winds and we could have easily remedied that with a phone call. We certainly don’t expect guests to wait 2 days.

CairnsPerfect little house for a family stay
Left on 06/13/2012 for a stay in March 2012
Well layer out, nice and close to all amenities, and a nice surprise with the library right out side your front door.
Make sure you tell them if somthing I'd not right or has not been cleaned correctly when you arrive. On our stay the BBQ was filthy and they tried to charge us extra to clean. -

Our family spent a wonderful month at Heath Terrace. My boys loved the proximity to the library and its story times. We enjoyed Rose Diner and the quick walk to shops and trams, South Melbourne Market, and the beach. The location really couldn't have been better. The home was comfy and easy to maintain. We would have liked a bigger outdoor area but area parks made up for it.

Heath Terrace has everything you need for a family holiday. Great location, beautiful interior and all the necessary appliances.
I'd happily recommend this property to anyone with a family (or friends) who needs a fun, safe and accessible place to stay in Melbourne! -

Left on 02/20/2012 for a stay in November 2011
Great condition. Very modern and very well renovated. Very good quality furnishings, appliances etc. Wireless internet. Very close to the CBD. Restaurants, supermarket, bottle-store etc all in walking distance. Only downsides which were minimal for us were car-park on street (not garage/off-street parking) and only a/C in upstairs bedroom-fans in other two bedrooms-know Melbourne can get hot. Overall though would recoommend and return except during middle of summer for a/C reasoning.

DrysdaleStylish, central and very comfortable
Left on 11/03/2011 for a stay in September 2011
This property was beautiful and comfortable in every way. Well thought out features to ensure an easy self-contained stay, such as ample kitchen utensils, umbrella, games, books and magazines. The decor was stunning, and the property is in a terrific location close to the best of bay street. It was one of the nicest places we have stayed at.
