Elwood is an inner bayside suburb only 7 km south east of the city of Melbourne. It is renowned for its treelined streets and period Edwardian homes. Elwood beach is absolutely beautiful with play equipment, bbq area, running tracks and the Bayside Trail bike track. Furthermore it is only a short distance to the St Kilda botanical gardens which are certainly worth a look.
Experience the shopping precinct of Ormond Road and enjoy the cafes, bars and restaurants. Elwood is a world of its own and an outstanding place to live.

The house is beautiful - has everything (plus more) that you could need including a music collection, dvd collection, gadgets, glasses and crockery enough to entertain.
There is also quality bedding, comfortable mattresses and the location is fantastic with an unbelievable bonus of being very quiet!
In fact, everything in Kerferd Cottage is quality from the towels to the window furnishings.
We will definitely stay at Kerferd Cottage again. -

We absolutely adore the Kerferd. Raymond was so kind to welcome us personally with a lovely bunch of flowers, after a 7 hour flight into Meblourne.
The Kerferd suited our family fine, lots of space for the little ones to roam around. we especially enjoyed the dinners we had in the house, with a thoughtfully planned kitchen.

We had the fortunate pleasure of staying at Kerferd as our first family holiday away with our little one (aged 15mths). It was without a doubt, the perfect location to enjoy our time together.
It provided the ideal base to explore the wonders that Melbourne has to offer, whilst still having a 'home' for which to return.
On several evenings it was a joy to be able to cook a roast, crack open a bottle of red, and enjoy our time with the comfort of knowing our little one was sleeping happily in his room just down the hall.
My favourite memory was seeing our little ones toys neatly parked next to the sofa - it made me realise he felt just as much at home as we did.
I truely recommend this amazing residence to anyone looking to spend some time in Melbourne.

What a delight and privilege it was to stay in the gorgeous Kerferd Cottage. Our 2 weeks in Melbourne was one of our best Melbourne holidays, due in no small part to Kerferd having everything an out of town family could want, plus more. The location was brilliant. It was quiet, yet central. We enjoyed many a walk/run to St Kilda and loved the ease of catching the tram or train straight into the city. Our family of 5 lived with much comfort and space and felt warm and cosy even on the coldest and wettest days. It was a pleasure to come home to after big days exploring the city and surrounds, with every comfort of home provided. We loved the Bose sound system, the fire, the decor & we found the double shower to be a blessing when trying to get 3 tired children ready for bed. Oh and the beds and pillows were probably the most comfortable we've ever found in holiday accommodation. And of course the service was second to none. Thank you for making our stay wonderful. I stayed at Kerferd with my husband and toddler during January while we re-settled in Melbourne. It was an absolute oasis, with everything we could have possibly wanted (and more).
The house is child-friendly and Ray kindly supplied us with a high-chair, free of charge. Ray was an absolute delight to deal with, from booking our accommodation, to making sure everything ran smoothly on our arrival and throughout our stay. He is a kind and generous host, and will answer every question and query quickly, with great attention to detail and much sincerity.
The house itself was spectacular, and we particularly enjoyed the bose sound system, with a wealth of pre-programmed songs to choose from. The layout and decor of the house is both practical and luxurious and we felt right at home immediately.
I also really enjoyed the location. There are two beautiful parks within walking distance from the house and Elwood Village and St Kilda are also within walking distance. I was able to take my toddler for a lovely stroll in the daytime, then come back to enjoy the peace and tranquility afforded by the open lounge and delightful garden surrounds.
We were terribly sad to leave and appreciate everything Ray did for us to make our transition to Melbourne memorable and much like a luxurious holiday. Thank you Ray!!Response from Raymond and Beth Kirkwood - 02/15/2012

My wife and I stayed for a week and were joined by our family for the weekend. The accommodation was excellent, with every comfort. The owner welcomed us and was most helpful When there was an Internet problem (affecting all the houses in the street due to an external cable problem) the owner was most helpful in identifying the problem and in arranging alternative access. We would gladly stay there again.

My family (3 adult children and husband) stayed at this beautiful home in July 2011 when we were visiting australia from Canada. We loved every room, and it was very spacious. We met the owners on arrival and they were very helpful giving us adive on groceries, shopping, restaurants, sports and attractions. The home is in a great location. We would recommend this home and stay here again.

Wow decor and furnishings, Wow beddings and linens, Wow kitchen and supplies, Wow exterior and lightings, Wow hifi and aircons, Wow thoughtful esp choice of pillows, Wow family lounge and daylights, Wow quirky twin shower bathroom, Wow super friendly and helpful host ... We stayed at Kerferd for two weeks recently (December 2011-January 2012) whilst in Melbourne. We found the property to be exactly as described and ideally located to explore everything Melbourne has to offer. This was our first experience in renting a house as opposed to staying in a Hotel which we would normally do. Right from our initial enquiry Ray was most helpful and ensured everything was in place for our arrival and throughout our stay. We will definately be back and have absolutely no hesiation in recommending this property.

We Stayed here for over a week and found the location great. It had all that we needed for our young family and much better than staying in a hotel. The kitchen was well equipped and provided lots if little items you normally have to buy. Ray was very easy to deal with. We arrived an hour earlier than expected and he let us in immediately. We were all tired from travelling and we asked for a recommendation for food. He suggested a great place close by and then to drove us there. We were very grateful, nothing was too much trouble.

We had our son's baptism in Melbourne, where his extended family lived. We needed a home to stay in, so we could entertain over the weekend, and host his baptism lunch. Kerferd cottage met all our needs, wifi, washer, dryer, full kitchen, entertaining area etc. We don't have a bad word to say about this place. It is well managed, Ray is delightful, and we didn't have any issues while we were staying there. It was a great experience for us, in fact, so great, we are spending another week over Christmas 2012 there. Better than any hotel room and you have room to spread out. The place was immaculate upon our arrival, and our Sunday lunch guests were most impressed with our rented weekend cottage, many no realising that such a place existed in Melbourne. We can't speak highly enough of Kerferd Cottage.
