Mellieha is located in the picturesque north with stunning views of the unspoilt countryside. The area boasts some of the most popular beaches in the country Mellieha Bay(500m), Paradise Bay, Golden Bay,in fact 13beaches in total. Additionally Maltas tiny sister islands of Gozo and Comino (Blue Lagoon) are just a short ferry ride away. 5 mins drive to ferry crossing.
The town is known for its top class restaurants, hotels and attractions; Popeye Village (used in the filming of the movie) Horse-riding, Marine Park ( swimming with dolphins) and nearby facilities include a full range of water sports; water-skiing, sailing, windsurfing, snorkelling and scuba diving. Malta is probably the top destination for scuba diving in the mediterranean with excellant wreck and cave diving.
Bus stop connecting the rest of the island is just outside the complex. Many bars, shops and restaurants are just a short walk away.

I have never booked accommodation privately and have religiously stuck to hotels or holiday complex's when travelling. It was my partner who noticed this apartment on Flipkey and suggested. Initially I was dubious. You hear horror stories of holidaymakers; showing up at uncompleted buildings, double bookings and general horrific problems with apartments - think Watchdog!
I contacted Ellen by email and she was brilliant; replying swiftly and in detail to my queries. Ellen was very attentive by email even offering to help arrange car hire. Excellent customer service!
We arrived at our apartment probably 2 hours later than expected. However, it didn't matter as we were greeted by a welcoming Ellen and Peter. I couldn't have asked for more! They made my partner and I feel so welcome and briefly showed us around our apartment. (The pictures they have up ob Flipkey don't do enough justice to be honest)
The apartment was all that we could hoped for! There's; a dishwasher, loads and loads of space for 2 people sharing and a beautiful kitchenette area, cutlery and utensils, internet (not Wi-Fi, although most of the local bars and restaurants provide Wi-Fi at a very reasonable rate).
The apartment looks directly onto the communal pool but remarkably still feels very private. You can see the sea and gorgeous horizon from the sofas! Ellen also offers underground parking if you do hire a car and the community is gated, which adds extra security to your holiday. The apartment is a very short walk from the main road which has a number of; dive centres, bars, restaurants, a supermarket and touristy travel centres.
I have to stress that the apartment is in a ideal location in terms of being close enough to amenities but not too close. It's quiet and you don't get bothered by the noise of others enjoying their holiday but within a 5 mins walk you're there amongst it!
Obviously with it being self-catering I assumed that we'd have to go food shopping on our arrival (note - most food stores are closed on a Sunday, which is the day we arrived on - oops). But Ellen had left the essentials to get us through our first morning - A huge thank you
Overall the accommodation, location and hosts were fantastic! I have to commend them and I would definitely return for another week or two.

We stayed for 7 days and it was a delight. A perfect getaway. One of those rare occasions when what you get is just as the pictures suggest.
