A historic sixteenth century farmhouse nestled on a plateau in the scenic Chianti region, Villa Chianti is a charmingly restored villa that is situated near the town of Mercatale Val di Pesa. Offering a panoramic view of rolling hills, lush vineyards and olive groves, the property is accessible through a dirt road that leads to the parking space in the villa. The dirt road branches of the main paved road which is then allows you to easily access the Florence - Siena expressway. Completely furbished in 2010, Villa Chianti is situated amidst greenery that encloses a private garden filled with the aromatic scents of various flowering plants typi...cal of the Mediterranean region, a swimming pool, a barbeque and an exquisite wrought iron gazebo to relax in summer. Garden furniture is available making the outdoor experience a part of one ' s stay in the property. While adding modern conveniences for guests, the entire property has also been restored keeping in mind its ancient heritage. Terracotta and travertine marble have been used when necessary to maintain the original finish of the property. The property contains three main apartments. They are the Main Apartment, the East Apartment and the West Apartment though the Villa can also be rented to an entire group allowing you to have some privacy though enjoy staying all in the one spot, having the pool for your private use. The Main Apartment The Main Apartment is situated at the first floor level. It is accessed from four steps at the entrance which lead to a private door made of glass and iron. Beyond this door, access to the first floor is through a flight of stairs, made with the original brick used in the property, which are characterised by a sky light. The apartment contains a kitchen, a dining room, a living room, four bedrooms, four bathrooms and a single room. The stairs lead to two doors; one main or front door and one side door at the right. The main door opens out to a spacious room that was the original kitchen, parts of which have been demarcated to preserve its original fireplace, other parts or zones containing the enormous fridge and freezer and a small kitchenette which is equipped with modern necessities including a five hob gas burner, an oven and a dish washer. This roomy area leads out at the back to the dining room which has big windows. Towards the left side of the kitchen there is a corridor that contains four doors, two of which belong to two bathrooms and the other two lead to two double bedrooms. The view from this side of the house is picturesque and overlooks the pool and a part of the garden. The right or side door leads to a corridor; towards the right, and climbing up two steps, one reaches a spacious bathroom. This floor is built on different levels and the end of the corridor leads to the living room which is accessed by two steps and leads to a single room which has a small window. Towards the left of the corridor there are two double bedrooms the second one has an attached bathroom and shower. The East Apartment The apartment on the east consists of a kitchen/dining room, a living room with double sofa bed, two double bedrooms and two bathrooms. As it is named this apartment is on the eastern side of the property and is at the ground level. Accessed privately through a stone arch that leads to a short passage, decorated with a non functional but well restored decorative oven, the apartment begins from the right side of the passage that leads to a kitchen, well furnished with all amenities including a four burner stove, an electric oven, a fridge and freezer and a dish washer. The dining room has a large arched window through which natural light enters. The living room is reached through as piral staircase and consists of a double be sofa and a small window. From the kitchen area, there is a door that leads to a hallway containing two doors opening on the right. These are beautifully equipped bathrooms containing showers and have a travertine marble finish. Progressing along the hallway, there is a door leading to the master bedroom. Towards the left there is the second double bedroom. This one has an interesting iron bed painted in white adding romance to the room. The room also has a tiny changing room and a walk-in closet. The West Apartment The apartment oriented towards the west of the property on the ground floor contains a kitchen/dining room, a living room with sofa bed, two double bedrooms and two bathrooms. It is quite secluded and private and spacious. There is a large French window that opens into the living room that has a double bed sofa. It is connected to the kitchen/dining room through an open walkway. The kitchen is bright and airy and contains a 4 ring hob, a refrigerator and freezer, an electric oven and a dishwasher. There is a hallway that is accessed from the kitchen. It has four doors; the first door on the left leads to a double bedroom with a nice window and a glass door, the next two doors towards the right of the hallway lead to two spacious bathrooms with showers. Finally towards the end of the hallway there is a fourth and final door that leads to the second bedroom. The Cottage The property also encloses a small cottage which originally was the barn. It is a delightful structure, the first one to be seen when entering the property. It contains a front porch with table and chairs and a yard which remain private to this cottage. Beyond the porch there is a spacious and comfortable large room that has been divided into various zones. There is an open gallery accessed through a spiral staircase present in the living area. The gallery has a double bed with a wrought iron head post, a foot board, wooden flooring and a gabled roof. The kitchen area is situated close to the door and has a gas stove with four burners, an oven and a dish washer. There is also an under the counter fridge with freezer. There is a door from the kitchen that leads to a small hallway that contains a cupboard and a door that leads to the bathroom with shower. The plentiful use of wood, the warmth both inside and outside and the general cosiness of the cottage make it an ideal retreat for honeymooning couples.
