The house is unbelievably large and luxurious, and the lake is just a short walk down the lawn. The shared lake access is not used by many other people - we were usually the only ones there.
A few things could be improved: neither the master bedroom door nor the guest bathroom door locks work, and the bed in the master bedroom is extremely squeaky. If you travel with your kids, say goodbye to romance! The refrigerator had a very strong smell of fish when we arrived, which it took all week to get rid of. Also the lighting in the Great Room at night is not at all cozy. All the light fixtures are on the ceiling, no floor or table lamps, so if you want to read at night, you need to flood the room with light, and even then it's hard to read, because the lights are 20 feet above you. If we rent this house again, we will bring some lamps for ambiance at night. -

My wife and I stayed at the property with two other couples and their children - 6 adults and 4 children under 2 years old. The home itself is very nice and the proximity to Meredith and the water is great. This home is a good value and the shared waterfront area was never crowded.
The waterfront and house are not particularly kid-proofed, so we were on our toes a bit more than normal, but again, it's a good value for the price.
If you are ok with shared waterfront, don't need a dock, want a nice/updated house, and enjoy being within walking distance of town, then this is a great place for you!

This home was beautiful and spacious! The deck outside was wonderful and the proximity to the waterfront was awesome! We would definitley stay here again. One complaint would be that the cleaning job could have been better. There was quite a bit of crumbs and hair on the floors still - we had a crawler!! There were numerous ants coming for the crumbs as wel. We swifted and vaccumed after every meal to prevent ants. It was pretty gross! In summary, the house and location were wonderful, but the cleaning job, especially with respect to the kitchen and floors could have been much better!

Our company rented this house because we had a conference at Church Landing, as well as clients in town. We were not impressed with this rental at all. The rules imposed by Preferred Vacation Rentals were not abided by and/or not enforced.
Upon arrival there was trash left in one of the trash bins (an ear of corn) w/out a trash bag, dishes left in the dishwasher. One of the upstairs bedrooms had no working light. Come to find out there was a major leak in this room. We were unable to sleep in this room.
Outside, the Weber grill was left extremely messy, with charcoal put in it; the deck furniture had grease on it, so much so that when you sat in a chair and leaned up against it you got a black greasy mark on your shirt.
In addition, at one point during the week a gentleman walked into the garage un-announced and said that he lived across the street and was meeting an appraiser to do a walk through. They then proceeded to walk through the entire house. We were never notified or asked if it was okay for this to take place.
Overall, we were not happy with our stay. We do realize these are other people's homes, however many of the issues we encountered could have been corrected by proper cleaning and inspection, as well as notification. Our company comes to this area every summer for a conference and based on this experience we are not sure that we'd want to rent again for fear we'd have similar issues.Response from Preferred Vacation Rentals - 08/27/2010

No problems with the house it was nice, clean, spacious and accommodating. The problem was that it was far from any activities with the kids. Just about everything we did was at least an hour away but this may be the way it is if you want to stay on a lake. The activities are in the mountains so it is a drive no matter where you stay with the lakes region. This house seemed to be even closer than others we looked at! This house was very loud it is a very nice and open layout but having a big crowd everything echoed! We had 6 kids and 4 adults and we all fit very comfortably but it was very loud. I went out to buy coloring books, puzzles and other quiet activities to try and subdue the sounds!
