MiamiParadise in the YucatĂĄn
Left on 11/19/2012 for a stay in November 2012
My family and I just stayed at the Hacienda Petac for an unforgettable week. We all knew this was going to be a beautiful trip but we all left blown away.
From delicious Mexican cuisine to the hacienda's expansive landscapes, this is the place you want if you are looking for a rich experience of all that the YucatĂĄn has to offer.
The hacienda's staff made the stay even more pleasant. Each and every one of the members of staff were excellent and friendly.
Hacienda Petac is a short car ride away from the YucatĂĄn's incredible Mayan ruins and breathtaking Cenotes (a must see)! The hacienda's tour guide, Miguel, is another of Hacienda Petac's gems taking us personally to each site and sharing with us the rich history of the area.
All in all, I can't recommend Hacienda Petac and the YucatĂĄn experience enough. Treat yourself to everything it has to offer. You can thank me later!

I have stayed at the Hacienda 3 times now. The first time was just my fiancé and I. We loved it so much we went back with his family. The 3rd time was with a wonderful group of friends. This place is magnificent. Each guest room is unique - one room has 3 story high ceilings!! It's so quiet and peaceful with great massages at the spa (the bamboo is my favorite) and the food is so good, we tried to recreate one of the dishes at home. It was tasty but did not live up. Trust me when I tell you, you will not regret a visit to Hacienda Petac!

A group of 5 of us went down to the Haceinda for some much-needed R&R.; The gorgeous pictures they have online still don't capture everything this place has to offer. We got out of the car from the airport and were greeted with fresh Jamaica, and from that moment until we headed home, we were utterly pampered, utterly taken care of, and most of all, felt like we'd been in a warm, welcoming home.
The hacienda and rooms have all been very tastefully decorated and appointed. It's a comfortable kind of luxury. You feel welcome everywhere on the property, and all of the appointments have an.. accessibility to them... all-in-all, it makes it very easy to stay there. I've had hotel and resort experiences where I felt like an intruder, like I was watched, and most of all, like it was very clear that I would be leaving at the end. this felt much more like staying in a close friend's space. You're welcome to look around, you're welcome to ask for what you need, and you feel comfortable.
The staff are excellent-- they strike a perfect balance of making sure you have what you want and need, without feeling like they're hovering. Colleen, the manager, was great-- very attentive and accommodating, and the kitchen staff did a wonderful job with our meal and dietary requests-- we had a vegetarian, and some other specific dietary needs, and everyone at the table was always wholly satisfied and pleased with their meals. Do yourself a favor and ask for some guacamole by the pool-- it's pretty hard to have a better setting for such things. Also, consider yourself warned... you will have dreams about the key lime pie, the banana bread, and... well, basically everything we ate was awesome.
We had some great times by the pool, hanging out in the common areas, playing pool and board games in the game room, getting spa treatments, and most of all, utterly unwinding in paradise.
This was our first trip to Hacienda Petac, and it most assuredly will be the first of many.

My family spent a glorious week at Hacienda Petac between Christmas and New Years, and we found it to be pure perfection. There are nine of us, ranging in age between three and seventy-eight, and it's more than fair to say that all generations felt totally pampered and indulged.
The hacienda and its surroundings are stunningly beautiful and all has been most thoughtfully restored with an eye toward both beauty and comfort. Each of the five suites is unique, and I would have been happy to stay in any one of them. Meals are a treat for both the eye and the palate. It was exciting to come to the table to see what colors, flowers and napkin design had been chosen for each mealâŠ.The setting for each meal was both beautiful and unique.
We arrived in the early evening after a long travel day and were met by Colleen, the general manager, who immediately made us feel most welcome. Her creative and organizational skills are extraordinary, and before long, we all felt that we had a new best friend. Colleen's enthusiasm and gracious hospitality has been passed on to the highly trained staff, who cheerfully anticipated our every need.
Although we did leave the hacienda a couple of times, once to go to Merida and once to visit Uxmal, it was hard to pull ourselves away, as Petac is truly an oasis of peace and beauty. The entire family loved it and we all hope to return. -

San AntonioA slice of heaven right here on earth
Left on 07/09/2011 for a stay in June 2011
It is unanimous, our entire family agrees this was the most fabulous vacation ever!!! Beginning to end, everything was amazingly beautiful. Every nook and cranny of the hacienda has been restored to perfection. The night we arrived we were surrounded by incredible sights and sounds, the candles lighting the pathways, the burning copal, the foliage, the birds, flowers everywhere. The rooms are incredible, very spacious, everything designed for comfort and pleasure. The game room is a stroke of genius, a great space for family gatherings, getting out of the heat, and a super fun refuge from the occasional rains. The spa could not be more esthetically pleasing and pleasurable. All the women in the group voted it our favorite spot. And the Jacuzzi, wow! What put this whole experience over the top, however, was the staff and the meals. Absolutely everyone, without exception, was incredibly attentive, cheerful and helpful. We had expected the food to be great, but didn't imagine the variety and beautiful presentation of every single meal. We never ate the same thing twice and every meal had a theme and color scheme that made us want to leave the place settings intact.
The secret weapon at Petac, however, is Colleen, the on-site manager. Her organizational skills, attention to detail and genuine concern that everyone in the group enjoy every minute are truly outstanding.
Our excursions to Merida and Uxmal were very memorable highlights, made even more so by our driver, Jose, a walking encyclopedia of information. The return to Petac was always a welcome respite from the heat as we were always greeted by a smiling staff with cold towels and cool refreshing drinks. On our way to the pool or a swing on the hammocks we kept saying, "It can't possibly get better than this!" Yet it always did!!
Hacienda Petac is a unique, superb experience. It is truly a slice of heaven right here on earth.

Denver, ColoradoFabulous Escape & Beautiful Wedding Setting!
Left on 07/06/2011 for a stay in June 2011
We just returned from a wedding at the Hacienda Petac. Although I had heard how amazing the Hacienda was, all my expectations were exceeded. The grounds are very well kept and beautiful. The foliage is dense, and there is an amazing sense of calm and serenity as you're surrounded by nature. A perfect place, if you need to decompress and escape the daily stresses of everyday life. The staff is amazing. Incredibly attentive with impeccable service (I never went without a drink!). The meals are fabulous Yucatan fare, and the dining experience was made even better as we were allowed to watch the staff prepare our meals if we wanted. My only regret here is that I couldn't buy a cookbook!
As for the rooms, they were spacious and cleaned multiple times daily. There was even laundry service! My 8-year old daughter had a great time. She worked with the Hacienda staff before many meals, folding napkins and decorating the dining table with flowers (if we could only get her to do this at home). She had a great time, and the staff really did a good job in making her feel special and included. And lastly, and of equal importance, this was the perfect venue for a small and intimate wedding. I would highly recommend the Hacienda Petac!

My mom and I were traveling in the Yucatan and had the great fortune of stumbling upon Hacienda Petac. It is a magical place in every sense...from the service to the location. The hacienda has been lovingly restored with a very thoughtful mix of high-end amenities and original architectural details. The tile work and grounds will make you feel as though you have stepped back a hundred years only everything is in perfect condition. This is a luxury location that has held on to the cultural relevance of a bygone era. It is also a plant and bird lovers paradise with a fully stocked bar room, beautiful pool, hammocks, delicious beds, game room, great food, and spa. In other words there is something for everyone. Your toughest decision may be where to curl up and read your book! We never stopped smiling and felt so at peace. It is a gem. Promise.

I absolutely love this place! From the moment you arrive, you are transformed into another world. The beautiful, well-maintained grounds are lovely with exquisite water fountains and breathtaking views.
The staff were incredibly friendly and their attention to detail was amazing. I never wanted for anything because whenever I thought about it, one of the sweet staff was there to ask me if I needed anything. The staff made efforts to make our stay so comforting with little gifts and surprises when you least expect it.
My bedroom was extremely comfortable and I slept better than I have ever slept in my life. Our rooms were always cleaned and the bathrooms were better and more beautiful than any 5-star Resort or hotel I have ever stayed in.
Every meal was better than the next. I don't even eat breakfast normally, however, I would go to bed wondering about what amazing meal would be prepared for us when we awoke. Lunch and Dinner were always delicious and incredibly filling although they weren't fatty or fried, so it was a delightful experience without feeling guilty about finishing every last morsel.
In between lounging by the poolside or reading in one of the cocoon-like hammocks, I was able to visit the on-site spa where I had 2 fabulous massages and an aloe-vera facial which was extremely refreshing. Some of my group did go on an excursion to visit some of the Cenotes and they came back with some fascinating pictures-I'll be doing that the next time I come here.
The Merida airport is a very nice and modern airport and our friendly driver was waiting to take us on a short trip to the Hacienda. As far as safety, I felt safe the entire time I was in Mexico. I will be going back as soon as I can. I have traveled quite a bit and I have to say that this was the most relaxing vacation of my life. -

Hacienda Petac is absolute luxury yet maintains an authentic and unique historical appeal. We were spoiled with all the comforts of a Four Seasons hotel but it was beautifully private. The staff is extremely well trained - always there if you need anything but never intrusive. Our group consisted of both married couples and single people. We left the property twice during our 7 day stay- once to visit 2 different cenotes and one trip to Merida. The cenotes are amazing and not to be missed, no tourists in site. Merida is typical of a non-tourist working city, interesting to see and shop for an afternoon. Needless to say, our 4 hour excursions left us wanting to be back at the hacienda, laying by the pool with a margarita or getting a massage. There is plenty of space and privacy for those who wanted to spend time alone but we all gravitated towards the game room which had every game you could imagine - pool, ping-pong, board games, card games, chess, etc. It was refreshing to play the old school games together, through the night, while getting away from the television, phones and computers. We also spent time at the gym which although small offered all the basics - treadmill, elliptical, bike, weight bench, free weights & yoga mat. The rooms are all stunning, the attention to detail through out the property is impressive, and the meals were local yucatan cuisine and magnificent. I think we all gained weight while we were there. Bottom line: if you have the right group, there is no better place to be.

Our extended family 8 adults and 3 children 8-1 yrs. spent Christmas week at Hacienda Petac. We were not sure what to expect since the location is land-locked and we normally gravitate to the coast. Hacienda Petac is it's own island of beauty, peace, serenity and gourmet food. The beauty of the physical facilities is impossible to describe beyond the word "perfection" and is only exceeded by the warmth of the staff and the mind numbingly delicious food. We have been to many 5 star hotels but have never experienced the level of service provided by the management and staff at Hacienda Petac. Our 8 year old daughter spent a great deal of time with the women in the kitchen and learned how to prepare traditional Mayan meals and the the importance of the food's presentation. Each meal our table was set and resembled a work of art. The staff arranged wonderful day trips to Merida and Uxmal ruins with an expert guide/driver. A live performance by the incredible Tres Yucatanos filled one evening at the Hacienda. Please do not miss an opportunity to visit. We rarely return to the same place twice since there are so many places and so little time, but we are returning to Hacienda Petac to celebrate New Year week this year. We recommend Hacienda Petac unconditionally!

HoustonBeautiful accommodation + Exceptional personalized service
Left on 09/11/2010 for a stay in August 2010
The Hacienda Petac was recommended to us by friends. Despite the fact that they gave it glowing reviews, when we finally got there it exceeded even the high expectations we already had. It is a beautifully renovated hacienda, that is both luxurious and intimate at the same time. It has been meticulously restored, and you will be amazed at what the owners Dev & Chuck Stern have done to it when you look through the pictures of the original buildings.
It caters to many different interests - whether you enjoy lazing by the pool or reading in a hammock on the porch, exploring ancient Mayan ruins, shopping in the bustling markets of Merida, or enjoying nature on the large estate, or playing pool while sipping cocktails - we did it all :-)
The rooms are large, and luxurious with all the modern amenities, but feel intimate and comfortable and romantic. There is a large, attentive and very friendly staff on site, but they are almost invisible unless you need them, when they magically appear with a drink or snack. By the end of the week they felt like family. The food was excellent and varied. Like with the rest of the service, it was highly personalized. We had a vegan and a complete carnivore in our group, and both their eating preferences where accommodated. The only down side was the extra pounds gained by most of us (largely from over-indulgence in the desserts) and not taking as much advantage of the gym and luxurious spa as we could have/should have.
I have never written a review for any vacation place in the past - but this vacation exceeded even our highest expectations and I felt compelled to write one. If you have a small group of friends or family, and are looking for a private, intimate, fun, relaxing, adventurous vacation - look no further. We strongly recommend you consider Hacienda Petac . We hope to return many times. -

This must be the very best Hacienda vacation experience as I truly do not know what could make the place and experience better. Hacienda Petac is rich in history, luxurious and the most fabulous spot to get away from it all. The structure and beautifully tended gardens will make you feel as if you're in your own private Eden. Maybe that's why we opted to visit for a second year in a row. Accommodations are plush yet understated- comfy beds, quality linens and I've never seen a 'hotel' room with such dramatically high ceilings. I'm also partial to the spacious, airy bathroom with rainforest shower. Service is of the highest standard and the staff is incredibly attentive, yet never intrusive. Meals are clearly prepared from scratch; best corn tortillas around and I could make a meal of the artfully sliced sweetest and succulent local fruits. Without exception, every meal was professionally presented, delicious, fresh, and somehow the kitchen pulled the proverbial rabbit out of the hat and catered to the needs of both the vegetarians as well as the carnivores in our group. We're a picky bunch, yet I noticed that everyone was happy at meal time. Didn't use the gym / spa this trip as I was too "busyâ lying at the pool reading my book. Hardly spent any time in charming Merida either - love it, but hanging out at the Hacienda was the break that I needed. Can't wait for the next visit!

I can't say enough how much we enjoyed staying at the Hacienda. Everything from the grounds, the staff, the food, and the elegant touchs (house flan, flower pedal designs on the linens, etc.) made this a one-of-a-kind luxury find. We enjoyed time at the spa, fresh breakfast near the pool, and the game room. It felt like a step back into history with luxury touches.

Hacienda Petac is an exquisite place and experience. It exceeds all expectations.
Staff --overly attentive, and always kind, charming, and sincere. Room-- 30 foot ceiling and every morning when I woke up it felt like I was in a castle or something. Air conditioning worked perfectly. The bathroom had a huge shower and a separate bath and wonderful smelling soaps, shampoo, and conditioners.
The food was fresh, unique and always delicious! Daily meals included local fruit, yogurt, eggs, for breakfast. Tortilla soup and seasoned chicken for lunch. Char grilled steak and homemade tortillas for dinner. Also, often handmade guacamole and chips--and always a dessert after--sorbet, flan, etc.
As for drinks, I especially enjoyed the horchata. (an ice cool vanilla, cinnamon flavor)--not to mention a complete open bar. A peppered beer or Pina coladas in the hammock over the pool I highly recommend!
The Spa was wonderful. My friend did some Yoga outside and I lifted some weights. I enjoyed an exfoliating body wrap and massage--followed by the hot tub, tea, and great conversation on the comfy lounge chairs.
I really started to decompress on about the third day. Maybe it was the afternoon naps in my room, all the birds chirping, simply reading by the pool, or the card games we played for hours in the game room? :)
The pictures on the website only give you a taste of what it truly feels like to see and enjoy Hacienda Petac. The architecture, the trees and flowers, flowing water, etc. is absolutely breathtaking.
I travel often (from London to the Caribbean) and I have never experienced a vacation quite like this. You really do feel a sense of ownership. You really will savor every bite of each meal. You really will be impressed the value you get for money and the service they provide. I highly recommend Hacienda Petac--and I hope you too will leave recharged, relaxed and focused. -

I can't remember if this is our fourth or fifth time renting the Hacienda Petac in Mexico, it keeps getting better every time we go back. Everything about the Hacienda is completely thought out and designed for comfort and fun. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and include an iPod/ CD player. The bathrooms are spacious and each is individually designed and uniquely different. The public rooms are spacious and perfectly appointed and the grounds are meticulously maintained without being fussy. The pool area, complete with a row of chaise lounges and hammocks, makes for the perfect place to sip a Margarita. New to us this year was the full servce Spa that was added. Various Mayan treatments are available and our group took full advantage of the manicures, massages and facial treatments. All of this said, however, it is the staff that makes the Hacienda unique and keeps us coming back. The manager Colleen, is friendly, knowledgable and personable and keeps the place operating perfectly each day. She will make arrangements for local trips, tours, shopping and knows the local art community very well. The staff of local men and women attend to your every need and seem to appear out of nowhere, just when your wine glass is nearly empty or you want more of the homemade Guacomole (the best I ever had!) from the kitchen. But mostly it is the fact that you feel like this is your fabulous home for the week with 9 of your closest friends. (The Hacienda sleeps 10 - 11). The owners, Dev and Chuck Stern, have put their hearts and souls into building this extraordinary compound that we are lucky enought to have for one blissful week each year. If you rent the Hacienda Petac, you will never forget it as long as you live, and maybe, like us, will keep going back again and again to experience this unique treasure.

My partner of five years and i decided to leave the cold and damp NYC winter behind us and fly from Newark through Houston to this beautiful city in the Yucatan state called Merida. Not far from Merida, with its open air markets and palatial homes lay our destination--Hacienda Petac. As we entered through the front gates of this beautifully restored Hacienda, we were greeted by our hostess, the lovely Colleen Casey, and her staff, with an exotic and healthy cocktail. We realized that we had come to the right place!
It's difficult to put into words the perfection and beauty that are the daily workings of the Hacienda Petac. From exquisite yet simple meals with the finest wines, to service that is not only impeccable - but executed with a smiling sweetness and gentleness that must be part of the native Mayan DNA, we were enchanted! We have never felt so pampered.
Our high ceilinged, very spacious room- always lovingly adorned with native flora -was a far cry from noisy Manhattan and we slept better than we ever had. When we finished our long walks, we swam, used the exercise room and/or the jacuzzi (complete with margaritas and the best guacamole we've ever had) and then after dinner played pool, scrabble or our favorite, Scattergory! There is no TV in the Hacienda, and we never missed it! The game room is HUGE with a wonderful sound system and we were served the most delicious and soporific after dinner drinks there, after which we fell into a deep and restorative sleep.
Larry and I had spoken about getting married but never got around to it. The night before we were to say goodbye to this magical place, Colleen Casey was able to bring to the Hacienda four official shamans who, amidst insense and bougainvillea, under the Mayan moon, performed our marriage ceremony. It was a spur of the moment, spiritual connection to each other but also to the beauty and purity of our five days in what i can only call the magical kingdom that is the Hacienda Petac. -

Left on 01/23/2010 for a stay in January 2010
This was my first Mexican experience. I wonder now, why it took me so
long to get there! As a non-Spanish speaking traveler,(this trip made me
vow to change that), I was made to feel totally comfortable upon meeting
Petac's manager, Colleen Casey, who told me there would be no problems
with communication and she was right. For basic needs like,"do I want my
breakfast now, or later?", the native Yucataks did their very best to
understand and accommodate me. For more complicated transactions,
Colleen, or our driver, tour guide, Miguel Mendez, solved whatever needed
solving. The Hacienda itself is an oasis for de-stressing and getting a real
feel for Yucatan life and its spirit. Throughout my 5 day visit, it was a
continuous delight to observe the staff's attention to beauty and detail.
Also, I cannot compliment enough, Petak's visionary owners, Dev and Chuck
Stern, on their artistic choices in its unique interior design. I was in awe
upon discovering grand hand-crafted armoires, Moorish design influenced
head boards in high-ceilinged bedroom suites. Also, I adored the comfy
leather "scoop" chairs (my name for them) that you'd never want to move
from while sipping your chilled margarita and dipping into fresh guacamole,
both of which rank as the best I've tasted. At every meal, the food
presentation was such, that you started talking about the next meal while
eating the present one. Petac's well-trained and courteous staff come from
nearby villages. With an obvious love and talent for cooking, they present
great regional fare with a romantic flare. To complete that sense of
romance came the nightly delight of improvised floral petal designs. The
flowers are picked from Petac's gardens and found at every meal setting,
bedside mat and throughout the newly completed zen-like spa.
Having worked many years for the "Four Seasons Hotels", I found Petac's
spa amenities, grounds and personalized service on a par with our
acclaimed resorts. -

Have you ever stayed in a room that was so wonderful that you could see
yourself living there forever? That was how we felt when we stayed at the
Hacienda Petac. The room was just fabulous--with lovely proportions and
craftsmanship from long ago, beautifully restored, decorated and
appointed--it was pure pleasure to spend time there. Of course, with the
beautiful gardens and grounds and its relaxing pool (complete with make-
a-wish-and-it's-granted service), deciding where to spend time could
present a real dilemma!
Our hostess, Colleen, and the entire staff could not have been more
welcoming and accommodating. Colleen helped us with all of our excursion
plans, sending us to outstanding destinations. The staff decorated our
rooms with rose petals, fed us the most scrumptious meals, and warmly
pampered us delightfully!

We were served a delicious tea called Jamaica, while our bags were taken to our rooms. Every room is spectacular in it's own way. Each evening turn down service is provided, but the first and last nights your room and bathroom are decorated with flowers and greenery from the property. It is truly breathtaking and makes one feel very special. A complete and well stocked bar was always available and the food was FANTASTIC. Three delicious meals including local cuisine and snacks whenever desired. The beauty of the countryside and the relaxed seclusion it offers was especially attractive. When looking for a change we went on shopping trips to local markets (30 minute drive) and toured ruins. An excellent driver with very good English speaking skills was available to us for hire. Last but not least, I must mention my truly wonderful experience at the Hacienda spa. I was pampered and felt renewed. The colonial architectural charm, the beautiful grounds, the fabulous food and the thoughtful and experienced staff made our visit one to remember. I am looking forward to my return to paradise!

Austin, TexasSecond Stay Was Wonderful From Arrival to Departure

This was my second experience at Hacienda Petac. From our arrival when we were greeted by the staff with jamaica and smiles then escorted to the rooms which are artfully appointed with comfortable beds, impeccable linens and welcoming floral touches, the stay was enchanting. The food is superb and every effort is made to accomodate dietary preferences. The kitchen prepares delicious Yucatecan dishes, from the best pico de gallo I've ever had, fresh, warm handmade tortillas and exquisite soups and entrees to delicate sorbets and sauces. The surroundings are amazing, the vegetation lush, and you find yourself immersed in the history of the hacienda and the people that surrounds it. Whether you elect to spend the day lounging by the pool, or taking an excursion somewhere in the Yucatan, the experience is delightful and memorable. We've enjoyed it so much, we're planning our third stay.

The stay at The Hacienda was luxuriant. The calm that surrounds the place is
absorbed and you feel like you could be there forever, protected by the place
itself. The food is sumptuous and beautifully presented each time to sit down
to enjoy a meal or a cocktail. The staff anticipates every need. They are quiet,
efficient, and very friendly. It feels like everyone loves their job.
I would have liked to have been able to count on the coolness of the spa. The
air-conditioning system was having some trouble while we were there. Also,
July is a mighty warm time to be in Petac. -

Going to Hacienda Petac is something I dream about in my spare time. This
was my fourth visit there and each time has meant for me an opportunity to
totally relax, get away from it all, practice my Spanish and enjoy wonderful
food and drink in the most beautiful and stunning environment ever.
Service at the Hacienda is impeccable and I awakened each morning smiling
and thinking about the day.
I began each day in the incredible new workout room followed by a swim in
the most lovely pool imaginable. Visits to the spa for massage and facial
enhanced my experience as well.
Some of the best times were spent at the breakfast , lunch or dinner table
eating fantastic food, drinking, and talking. We never wanted to leave!!
The room where I stayed was absolutely lovely--from the fresh flowers left
on my bed or in the bathtub, or my plush robe or the lovely fresh fruit
bowl.
I have the best memories ever from there and cannot wait to go back next
year. -

The times I have spent at Petac with my family and friends have been magical. One arrives at the Merida airport and is whisked in 30 minutes to the Hacienda in a van. Lovely staff awaits with a cool drink as suitcases are moved silently to the rooms. During the week, clothing is washed and ironed and replaced as if my a fleet of fairies. Meals are healthy and local, and staff attends to your dietary preferences and needs. Desserts include an endless selection of exotic fruit sorbets.
The Hacienda now has a spa, as well as a pool, game room, bar, a nice selection of guide/history books, grounds to walk, and lovely water features throughout. There are birds singing everywhere. The restoration shows restrained elegance and an eye for comfort. While touring is educational and fun, the Hacienda is an island of relaxation. On my last visit we used the spa daily to do yoga, use the equipment and have nourishing treatments.
If you are interested in the Yucatan Peninsula, there are several options for day trips. If you don't speak Spanish you can hire knowledgeable, bilingual guides/drivers:
-- CelestĂșn (flamingo reserve 1 hour west) with boat trips into the mangroves;
-- Progreso, a casual beach town 1 hour north;
-- Mayan ruins within 45 minutes;
-- Mayan villages with colonial churches, markets, crafts;
-- Mérida for museums, galleries, and shopping.

Eleven family members came to Hacienda Petac to celebrate my parents 60th wedding anniversary. It was paradise. The staff are wonderfully friendly and attentive. The grounds are beautiful. The pool was perfect for relaxing, reading and watching the children play. The tour guide for the excursions was very knowledgeable and provided fascinating detail. The bedrooms and common rooms are perfectly appointed, not over done, spacious and comfortable. We can't wait to go back.

Corpus Christi, TexasPampered in Paradise
Left on 09/18/2009 for a stay in June 2009
Wow! My husband and I (and our 6 other guests) cannot say enough
wonderful things about Hacienda Petac. At first, we had a few concerns
regarding safety and the location of the Hacienda since it was not
waterfront property. Also the swine flu epidemic had the media going
crazy. We voiced our concerns to the manager of the property, and she was
extremely informative and gentle with her responses to us. She let us know
that Merida was one of the safest areas in Mexico with very little drug
related crime compared to the border towns and other major cities. She
acknowledged that many people are now afraid to travel in Mexico, and they
would do whatever it took to make us feel safe and comfortable. Thus
"Operation Mott Mott Bird" was born. Our driver at the airport had a
password (the name of a beautiful bird on Petac's property) that he had to
give us before we agreed to get in the van with him. It's very comical to
look back on it now, but at the time, we were grateful for the extra effort
made by Petac. I started getting a little concerned b/c of our surroundings
as we drove to the hacienda, but then gates were open, and in the middle of
this tiny town, Petac, we entered paradise. From that moment on, NONE of
us had one concern. We were greeted with refreshments, cocktails, and we
immediately went to their game room and spent the rest of the evening
unwinding. Every meal was so tasty and had just the right amount of food
so that you were never hungry but never stuffed. The Hacienda's staff was
at your beck and call. The rooms and architecture were incredible, and the
vegetation on the property made you feel like you were in a rainforest. Best
of all, they had an on-site spa just for us! We booked spa treatments all
day, everyday. We didn't want to go anywhere b/c it was too wonderful at
the Hacienda. My husband's screen saver is now the incredible hammocks
that hang over their beautiful pool. If you need to recharge your battery -

Sometimes when my insane lifestlye catches up with me, I actually go to the website just to "re-visit" the Hacienda and recall the serenity of my visits there.
I travel frequently and have spent time in spectacular resorts throughout Europe, South America & the US, but I can't think of a single first-class accommodation which offers a nicer, more luxurious experience than Hacienda Petac. The rooms are enormous &luxurious; the meals are theatrical in presentation & superb in content; the staff is the most wonderful, unobtrusive staff ever assembled in a resort.
I simply can't recommend this getaway highly enough!
