Casa Cárdenas has every amenity a family could want. From the Nintendo Wii, iPod docks, wifi and board games to the to the outdoor gas fireplace and glass-sided swimming pool for daytime relaxation. At night settle into the lounge and watch videos from the 65+ movie library projected 15 feet wide in the lounge. This spacious house has entertainment enough for everyone.

Located on Calle 53 (the most sought after street in Merida) the location is quiet yet situated close to a...ll the best attractions. Leafy Santiago Park, with its beautiful church and daily market, is just two blocks away.Within a short stroll are the arts district of Santa Ana, the nightly festivities of the main square and Merida's answer to the Champs Elysees, Paseo Montejo, with its bars, mansions and elegant restaurants.

The newly renovated colonial home has been skillfuly designed to satisfy modern sensibilities, providing ample natural light, cooling breezes and a spacious yard and rooftop terrace on which to entertain. For dinner, a private chef can also be arranged.

Bedroom 1:

Located upstairs, bedroom 1 (measuring roughly 50 square meters or 500 square feet) it has a king bed, fan and air conditioning and looks out onto a large shaded terrace. The bathroom is equipped with double vanities and double high pressure rainshower with balcony view onto a private balcony which overlooks the yard and pool area.

Bedroom 2:

Located upstairs, bedroom 2 (measuring roughly 32 square meters or 350 square feet) it has a king bed, fan and air conditioning and looks out onto a large shaded terrace. The bathroom is equipped with single vanity and single high pressure rainshower.

Bedroom 3:

Located in the casita, bedroom 3 (measuring roughly 42 square meters or 450 square feet) it has a king bed, fan and air conditioning and, on the southern end, looks out onto a the pool. The northern end looks out onto a private garden. The bathroom is equipped with double vanities, deep soaking tub and single high pressure rainshower with view onto a private garden.

Bedroom 4:

Located downstairs, bedroom 4 (measuring roughly 20 square meters or 215 square feet) has doors onto the kitchen and bedroom 5. It comes equipped with two single beds, fan (but no air conditioning) and looks out onto the cool internal breezeway. The bathroom is equipped with single vanity and high pressure shower.

Bedroom 5:

Located downstairs, bedroom 5 (measuring roughly 20 square meters or 215 square feet) adjoins bedroom 4 and the lounge. It comes equipped with a two single beds, fan (but no air conditioning) and looks out onto the cool internal breezeway. It has no bathroom (most convenient to share with bedroom 4)

A cot can also be provided for young children.

The kitchen comes fully equipped with antique ten-seater dining table, dishwasher, microwave, high capacity fridge and freezer, heavy base saucepans, chef's knives, salad and mixing bowls, and ample high quality flatware and tableware. A charcoal barbecue is also provided.

Additional Location Information

Casa Cardenas is located on Calle 53, the most sought after street in Merida for it's proximity to all amenities and quiet nature. Busses do not travel down this street and there are few cars.

Two blocks south is Santiago Square with fresh fruit and veg markets as well as many small eateries, supermarket, cafes and even a cup cake store.

The Merida English Language Library is one block away and the main square is a five minute walk. This is one of the safest neighborhoods (in Mexico's safest city) with lots of good amenities and wonderfully restored Spanish Colonial houses in this street. In the cool evenings, many local Meridanos sit in the street talking to passers by. It's perfect for practicing your Spanish.
Calle 53 is also home to a growing community of friendly expats (German, Kenyan, Canadian, American, British, Irish) many of whom are gallery owners, artists and musicians and are always ready to give advice on the best places to stay or play.
