Four blocks south you’ll find yourself in Mérida’s Plaza Principal, home of the Governor’s Palace, Latin America’s oldest cathedral, and the hub of the city’s night life. Head east to Paseo de Montejo, Mérida’s grand boulevard, where on Saturday night you can enjoy live traditional dance and local street food.
Feel like being a local? Stroll over to Parque Santiago where during the day you can buy fresh meat and veggies and at night dine on panuchos (think black bean-stuffed tostadas topped with shredded turkey, tomatoes and a slice of avocado) and sopa de lima.
