Description
Unique property on the beach in the center of village. Bed sit/Studio w/king in sleep loft and full futon in living room 1 bathroom w/hot shower downstairs and another bathroom in the open living space on the second floor. Wi fi throughout: Open air living space on second floor w/kitchen, bath w/hot shower, hammocks, hot tub, loungers. Sunset visible from open air room. On a beautiful deserted beach in the center of village life. Truly a Dominican experience. Local eateries next door and across the street, local shop next door. Local food may also be purchased. Safe, colorful neighborhood. Right on the beach. Off street parking in a garage. Fishing village so fresh fish may be available daily. We recommend a rental car, but the local bus service runs through town, listen for honking horn from bus drivers or walk 5 minutes to main road to flag down a bus.

Response from the owner Jack Sorry to hear about your problem in Layou. We always leave contact information for ourselves and our property manager as well as a local cell phone for guests to use, in case there is a problem and ask guests to contact us so we can rectify any problems. After hearing from a neighbor that you had left, we did try to contact you through several means to see what the problem was and to try and solve it. I have since spoken to the neighbor about the music and they have been very good about keeping it down and even checking with the guests that they are not disturbing them. The house is in the middle of a vibrant village and on the only road in the village. The street is typical of a Dominican village. The unit is very small and is described as such in the description. The roof access is also clearly described in the description as having an exterior access. You say the house is suitable for 3 not 4 guests. We have had 4 guests many times in the in the past without complaints. Sorry you found the futon uncomfortable. We’ve had some guests prefer the futon over the king size bed.

Response from the owner Jonathan You think parking your small jeep was tough in the garage, you should try my full size SUV. We are working on the road in front of the house with the village council to get the gutter across from us enclosed, adding an extra two feet of maneuvering room and no fear of falling in the "gotcha gutter" I will be speaking to the owners of the bar behind the house about the loud music. We have a reciprocal agreement and i send people to them to buy fish. But in a village people do "share" the music. The people in the village are very nice and helpful and we try to contribute back with help for the schools and community. I am glad Lenny and Raymond worked out. They are both really nice guys. Hope to see you on your next visit to Dominica

“Charming”
