This unique property has many original and novel features and sleeps a total of six people in one twin and two double rooms making this a great holiday home for a group of friends or a larger family. Tucked away in a small courtyard and nestling between the narrow main street and the picturesque harbour in the popular village of Mevagissey lies this charming cottage that was originally a fisherman's store. Furnished to a high standard, this Cornish holiday home blends period features with modern style. Beams and other original features remain in situ whilst an antique French bed and chandelier furnish one of the double rooms. Adjacent to the... owner’s property, this little house is ideally situated for a wander down to the harbour to watch the boats come in or a trip to the town’s excellent shops.

Amenities: Electric storage heaters. Electric cooker, fridge, microwave, washing machine, TV, DVD player. Electricity inc. in rent 1 May - 30 Sep (£20 per week supplement at other times). Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Parking space reserved in nearby public car park for guests’ sole use (approx. 500 yards from property). Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shops and restaurants 2 mins walk. Pub opposite property. Note: Second floor double room accessed via steep stairs, therefore may not be suitable for young children or the less mobile.

Region: Cornwall’s visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain’s premier holiday destinations.

Town: With winding cobbled streets and a harbour full of boats, Mevagissey represents the perfect Cornish fishing village. Sandy beaches, high cliffs and hidden coves are waiting to be explored and stunning walks lead along the coast in both directions, giving you plenty to see. Just up the road are the Lost Gardens of Heligan whilst closer to home, the village has an excellent selection of pubs and restaurants. Also available in the village from Easter until September are ferry trips between Mevagissey and Fowey. Just seven miles away is Charlestown with its fish smokery, shipwreck museum and Tall Ships harbour. The Eden Project’s world famous tropical biomes are only a 10-minute drive away, as are the fabulous beaches and renowned gardens of the beautiful Roseland Peninsula.Read more

Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.

  Well equipped comfortable cottage with helpful owner, would recommend & would happily return. Comfy sofas and beds and logically set out and a good roomy bathroom. The bedrooms were a good size and comfortably furnished. The Welcome pack of goodies was much appreciated.
  
  We particularly enjoyed the fact that we were positioned in the street just behind the harbour. I was able to pop out easily with a cup of tea in the morning or wine in the evening to sit on a bench to watch the activity around the harbour. It was also very useful as situated in the centre of town so literally seconds away from shops/public houses/ restaurant and the post office. There is a ferry service to Fowey and a bus service to the nearby gardens of Heligan. There are lovely walks from the harbour and you can easily walk to the next bay and the beach, which we indeed did. You could easily do without your car for the entire holiday it was so convenient for everything.
  
  The cottage is accessed via a small passageway between two shops, one of the shops being a tea room. There is a small shared courtyard from which the cottage is accessed. When arriving unloading is problematic immediately outside as Fore Street is the main street through Mevagissey; the best plan is to pull in on the road by the pub opposite the property as this street is wider and unload. A parking space is provided a short walk away.
  
  Shop wise in the town there is fish being sold on the harbourside, a lovely vegetable shop & an excellent bakery. The bakery sold a wonderful ‘hemp bread’ which was delicious which I would recommend. There is no butcher in town but 2 miles away alongside the lost gardens of Heligan is a farm shop complete with butcher which was excellent. The ice cream shop by the vegetable shop is the cheapest in town. I try and support local shops when away but there are the usual supermarkets, Asda, Tesco etc at St austell. Note there is no ‘free’ cashpoint in the village although there is a post office. There is Lloyds/TSB bank that opens Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
  
  There are negatives about every property but they can be important when choosing so I will set them out. It is in the centre of the town opposite a pub so there is some noise from passing people and the pub; this though was never excessive and at bedtime it was quiet and peaceful and the flip side was the convenience of being close to everything and not needing the car. You do not have a view or garden but it really is a very short step to the harbour and there are lots of benches it is really so close it is almost like your garden. Part of the property, the kitchen, is directly behind a shop and when open you can hear the conversations so presumably you can be heard also, but as we were out during the day this was not a problem. Finally the stairs to the top bedroom are very steep but you are pre-warned about these.

  the cottage was very well equipped, warm and comfortable. Very close to all the village amenities.the allocated parking space was a bonus.
  
  The owner was very helpful when the t.v played up and soon got it sorted for us.
  
  We would stay there again, and would certainly recommend it.One of our better choices for holiday lets.

  The cottage was even nicer than in the pictures. The owner was friendly and available if needed. The harbour is just around the corner, and local shops on the same road. The only downside was that we could hear the lady in the antique shop next door quite loudly, but went out most days so wasn't really a problem. Lovely to have free parking nearby and there was always a space available. Would stay here again.
