Stanfield ncThe vacation was a very relaxing stress free experience.
Left on 05/16/2013 for a stay in May 2013
My husband and I enjoyed the peaceful quiet area where the rental home was located. The close easy access to the beach was appreciated. There were a couple of pleasant restaurants within walking distance and the sidewalks made our morning running relaxing. The home was neat, clean and well maintained.

I guess 1000 Oaks was built about 1930 as a little cabin on an isolated beach. It has been remodeled without taking away the charm. It feels old and comfortable. The 2b2b was perfect for my husband and me and our two grandchildren. we were comfortable, relaxed and enjoyed.
The personnel at Forgotten Coast properties couldn't have been nicer. They did everything with a smile and never seemed rushed--just efficient and friendly.
What I liked best was the quiet peacefulness. -

1000 Oaks is a charming little bungalow that's been beautifully updated. This was this first time we've been to Mexico Beach, but we will be back and have no problem staying at 1000 Oaks again.

Stanfield ncA very relaxed, peaceful vacation.
Left on 05/16/2012 for a stay in May 2012
The home my husband and I stayed at ( 1000 Oaks ) was furnished with tasteful, comfortable furniture. The kitchen had all the necessary appliances. The area where the home is located was quiet and within walking distance ( two minutes ) to the beach. We both loved the screened front porch and spent most of our evenings there.
The only correction I can think of would be the gas grill. We love cooking outside but the ignitor switch was broken and we weren't comfortable with tossing a match for flame. -

We loved this cute, clean place that has been updated. (Wished we owned it!) It's a short walk to the beach as it is on the north side of Hwy 98. Only downside was that the beds were rough on our backs.

Left on 08/18/2011 for a stay in July 2011
My family visits Mexico Beach every year, and 1000 Oaks is a great place to stay. Wish we would have known about it when our children were young. Perfect place for kids with rideable toys and/or bikes...dead end street with no traffic. However, now that our children are older, it is still a great place to stay. Our teenager and younger son can walk to local attractions. The front screened in porch is a perfect place to relax, and our small dog loves it!!!
We will be staying at 1000 Oaks many more times.

Rural Florida PanhandleA great get-away!
Left on 04/16/2011 for a stay in April 2011
My significant other and I chose this house for a long-weekend get-away with our small dog. It's a very cute 2-bed, 2-bath cottage, located only a block-and-a-half from the beach. The house was very clean and welcoming, and the location was perfect.
The block was very quiet, and the neighbors were very friendly, offering advice on local restaurants and even some of their fresh-caught fish! We were glad to be in walking distance of several restaurants and shops, and there's a nice sidewalk along the highway that keeps you separated from the traffic.
We were glad to include our dog on the trip, and this was one of the few pet friendly spots available. Fyi, the pet fee is approx. $100 plus tax, which seemed consistent with other companies in the area.
There were a few minor things that were nice to know ahead of time (I saw them in previous reviews):
1. You have to cross Highway 98 to get to the beach (it was never a problem for us, traffic wasn't heavy in april), and
2. You can see through the blinds in the living area of the house, so just be prepared for that (blinds & curtains kept everything dark in the bedrooms).
I would have liked an earlier check-in and a later check-out but, considering they fully clean the house between renters, I can understand these times.
All in all, we were very happy with this rental and would go there again. I think this is a great spot for one couple (a little too close for two couples if you want some private, romantic time).Response from Forgotten Coast Property Management & Rentals, LLC - 05/08/2012

GeorgiaCute & Cozy, but...
Left on 06/27/2010 for a stay in June 2010
This was our first time w/a rental, so we were quite excited. Check-in went very smooth. By the time we ate & went to get grocery items needed, it was around 7pm when we arrived at the rental. We were anxious to get unloaded & just relax, as we had had a long drive. We quickly noticed there were no shades (or anything!) on the kitchen window (off of back deck) & also back door (w/glass top to bottom)! This allowed complete viewing of the cottage all the way to the front door. There were bamboo shades over 4 windows in the living room, but there were absolutely useless, as you could see thru them as if there were bare also! Luckily we had 2 newspapers & a roll of scotch tape, which we used to "block out the neighbors". We had noticed it was very warm when we arrived, but thought it would soon cool off. Not to be!! It was so hot in the back bedroom & bathroom that we wouldn't have been able to sleep at all had we not gone out & purchased a fan. (The vents in these 2 rooms did not work at all!) I will say that it was very clean & had nice upgrades in the baths & kitchen, but would have much rather have had working aC & cheap blinds! We were there for only 3 days, so we just put up w/it. I told them about these things at check-out, & they apologized & said it all would be passed on to the property owners immediately. Hopefully, all issues will be addressed, because this is really a cute place & could be very enjoyable under different conditions.

The air conditioner was repaired soon after your departure and curtains were added to the windows. If ever there are issues with a property we encourage our renters to call our office immediately so these issues can be addressed and resolved promptly. Especially A/C issues; we want your stay to be pleasurable, not miserable.

Our little cottage was great for our little get away. The only downside was the air conditioning. We never could get the temp below 78. Not a huge issue, except the vent in one of the two bedrooms did not blow any air at all and the adjacent bathroom had no vent, leaving that area of the home about 10 degrees warmer than the rest of the house. Not great for sleeping...

we loved the "old Florida" house, reminded us of granny's house down in Loxahatchee, Florida. extremely convenient to beach, had a great seafood grill-out on the deck. great weather. the only negative i can think of was the cushions on the double lounge chair on the back deck, they need to be replaced, and kept out of weather during non-rental time. loved the oak trees, front screened porch, and very quiet neighborhood. will definitely stay again. house was very clean and nicely decorated. forgotten coast rental people very pleasant and helpful.

IndianaChristmas at the Beach.
Left on 01/07/2010 for a stay in December 2009
The little cottage was wonderful. Very private but yet a short walk to the beach. It was a little cool during our visit and the beds had no blankets, so we did have to go buy them. Everything else was new and up-to-date. With the porch, deck and shade I think it would be a great place in the summer.
On the negative side, the receptionist at the realty company was very rude. We arrived earlier than the 4:00 check-in time but this was not the peak season for tourism. She made a big issue of our early arrival (after a 700 mile trip), said she would call us when it was ready. We went by the property to make sure we knew where is was, saw that there was no maintenance person there as stated by her and called to see if we could go ahead and enter. She rudely stated that we must have a communication problem and that she had told us she would call. 10 minutes later she made that call. Unfortunately, this started our vaction off in a negative way. We did not have to deal with her after that however, and really enjoyed our stay. -

The rental was nice and peaceful. Not amazing,
but definitely met our needs! The only thing that
was missing was the advertised DVD player. We
have a new born daughter, so we brought DVDs
to watch during feedings. Unfortunately, the rental
was missing an av cable, so we had to buy one,
only to find that the DVD player didn't work on the
tv in the main room anyway, only the small
bedroom tv. Otherwise, the house was very
comfortable and well taken care of. Thanks!

This was an unusual situation. The former owner had put it up for sale. As a rental agency, we have an agreement with all owners that if they put their property up for sale, it can be shown with 24 hours notice. We informed the guest when that checked in that it was scheduled to be shown and the response was that it wasn't a problem. It's a beautiful property that was in demand by prospective buyers, one of which purchased the property. It is now not only a great vacation rental, it has new owners that wish only for their guests to have many happy memories under 1000 Oaks.

This home was a wonderful place to stay. It was roomy and well decorated. I liked that it had all the essentials, including pitchers for tea and gas for the grill. The area was quiet. It was a great place to sit back on the porch, read and enjoy the breeze. It was just a couple of minutes from the beach. You do need to cross the highway to get to the beach, but that was never a problem to get across. The first day we had some problems with fleas, BUT they took care of it within TWO HOURS. Bugs are common in Florida. That quick of a response time is not. This group cares about you enjoying your stay. I plan on going back. I highly recommend this location.
