Description from the manager
BAREFOOT 1 is the lower floor of this beautiful beach front house. Enjoy the gorgeous view and wonderful sunsets from the spacious deck that allows private access to the white sand beaches. It is located directly on the Gulf of Mexico, in the heart of Mexico Beach, on the "Forgotten Coast" of Florida. New shiny pine wood floors have just been added for even more beach ambiance. The location is perfect for visitors from all over and close to several airports, the closest being Panama City, Florida, just a 1/2 hour away. Built up on pilings, there is a large driveway underneath for plenty of parking. It is located across the street from the loc...Read more

My husbands family is from there and I'm from CT. We rented Barefoot for 4 days and brought my family and a Minister friend to meet his. We got married on the deck at sunset with all our loved ones together. It couldn't have been more perfect to all stay together and share our wedding. The house is lovely and I look forward to staying again.

Great service with no problem checking in. House is great for a large group. This is the second time we rented this house and plan on renting again next summer. Best of all is the location, right on the beach and store across the road.

What a beautiful place. We stayed with 2 other couples for a weekend away. Had a great time enjoying the breeze, sun, and beauty of Mexico Beach. House was perfect with the exception of the twin beds, would have been nicer for couples to have all queens but we worked it out. The place was large enough that we had privacy when needed but areas to gather and talk. Perfect location with restaurants ans grocery store with in walking distance. Would be nice if elevator worked, easier to get our things up and down. Next time we will check for working lifts!

We went in March and the weather was beautiful. The house was great, very spacious & full baths in each room! Perfect for house full of girls! We hope to return w larger party and rent both floors. The location was so ideal! We left only once to eat out and the rest of time, we had all we needed at the house. I recommend buying groceries and plastic items before you arrive. There is a Dollar General down road...to stock up on any misc/forgotten items from beach floats to food.
The Fogotten Coast Rental Property - excellent! Thank you for welcome package...so kind!

We had a great stay for January and February 2012. Weather was great, lots of room, great paint job in the house, beautiful views from the deck. We had a few issues with appliances in the unit but they were right on the spot with repairs as needed. Just having the windows open and listening to the surf day and night makes this a top spot in our book. We have already booked for next year!

Bainbridge, GAGreat beach house, great location!
Left on 06/16/2011 for a stay in June 2011
The living area and kitchen were very spacious, the kitchen was well stocked, all rooms were very clean, the large deck overlooking the beach was wonderful, and there was plenty of parking. We liked being right across the road from the grocery store and within walking distance of restaurants. Our only complaint was the bedrooms were very small; we had to put the baby's "Pack & Play" in the walk-in closet. Also, the bedrooms did not get very cool at night with the aC; they stayed rather warm. However, this would not keep us from returning.

Left on 01/05/2011 for a stay in December 2010
Overall, this house was one of the better ones we have stayed at on Mexico Beach. The kitchen is very roomy and pretty well stocked. The beds were comfortable. Linens were provided. We did have a backed up toilet but Forgotten Coast had someone there within 30 minutes of my call to fix the toilet. No other problems. My only warning is that there is a unit above this one and some people rented it the last 2 days of our stay and the noise from them walking and jumping around was significant. If you want a quiet getaway make sure it isn't rented when you stay. Overall we had a wonderful time and enjoyed the house.

We had a wonderful time, the water was beautiful, not a speck of oil or tar balls...i most enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the dolphins jump and play in the water. I have lived in central florida all my life, never saw them jumping out of the water like this. The location was perfect for us, very isolated from all the crowds, but went to port st joe to rent a boat, to panama city to Sam's club to stock up, grocery across the street was well stocked ...

I wasn't aware of the separate room that was rented upstairs. I would rather been told that some people were staying above us because we may have made them nad with all the late night noise.

Nashville, TNEverything was Broken!
Left on 03/24/2010 for a stay in March 2010
While the home was beautiful, we experienced many problems that we should not have had to deal with on vacation. Our first night the elevator didn't work, the dryer broke on day 2 and took 2 days to repair. The internet was sporatic and the phone never worked. The kitchen sink started leaking all over the kitchen floor on day 4. We had to deal with repairmen pretty much every day that we were there. I plan to call the property management company to complain as well. Like I said the home was beautiful and the view was spectacular but the vacation felt more like being at home on a very bad week.
The listing also said that the home slept 10. When I looked at the forgotten Properties website it specifically stated that if the listing claimed 8-10 that indicated the presence of a fold out sofa. The listing for Barefoot stated that it slept 10, so I assumed there there were "beds" to accomodate 10 people. When we arrived we discovered that there were only enough "beds" to accomodate 6 people and that there were 2 sleeper sofas in the living room. I believe that this was misrepresented.
I would not stay in the home again, even though as stated before it was beautiful and had a great view. -

Atlanta GABig unit, wonderful view, great location right on the Gulf
Left on 12/04/2009 for a stay in November 2009
Forgotten Coast was wonderful to work with, very responsive and helpful. Plus they don't require full payment prior to arrival like some of the other leasing agents. 4 of us stayed for a week in early Nov. in the 3-bedroom, 3 bath 1st floor unit, which is very roomy and nicely decorated. Kitchen is sort of weird, huge with lots of wasted space, but that made it easy for 4 people to putter around without running into each other. It was stocked but not as fully as I've seen in other properties; the appliances worked but some are pretty worn. Two bedrooms are off the living room, one with 2 twin beds and one with a queen. The 3rd bedroom is on the other side of the unit next to the kitchen so more private. All have sliding doors to the deck. The deck overlooking the Gulf is great, sunsets were spectacular. The deck furniture was old and worn looking too. Apparently the current owner was trying to sell the place and wasn't willing to do much more than basic upkeep. The top unit was rented at the same time and we were afraid we would be bothered by noise from above, but it wasn't bad at all. We could just hear them walking around sometimes. This property also has an elevator.
There were a couple of issues when we checked in. We had to ask for another patio chair (there were only 3), and to have one of the toilets fixed, plus the screens to the sliding doors were all off, but Forgotten Coast was very responsive. They allowed us to delay payment until we were satisfied with the repairs.
Mexico Beach is very quiet and laid-back (at least in Nov.)..nothing like Panama City or Destin. Not much to do except watch the waves and go for walks, which is great if you want a relaxing vacation. If you need groceries, skip the store right across the street (very expensive) and drive the 10 minutes or so to the Piggly Wiggly in St. Joe.
It was a great vacation home and we would definitely stay there again. -

Forgotten Coast Properties was more than over accomadating. We had 10 guest,5 adults,5 boys ages 16-12. There was lots of room for everyone. The only down fall with the house was all the bathrooms were in bedrooms, which made it incovent to the boys having to always ask if it was okay to shower and what not.I would not bring more than 6 guests to this property again becouse of the bathrooms. The location was perfect and the sunsets were spectacular. Very close to shopping and Dining.( Tip, go into Port St Joe at the dollar general to pick items like soaps, toiletries, snacks etc. Other wise the grocery store across the steet is perfect, Fresh seafood at the Shell Shack.)

We've rented this house for five consecutive years now, and our family loves it! Our young grandsons can't imagine not going to this house every summer. It is ideally situated for a family. We eat most meals "in"; usually dinners are on the deck overlooking the beautiful Gulf and waiting for the sunset.

This place was so great! The kitchen was huge and the seating in the living room was great. Every room had a full bathroom and access to the deck. The place was bright and airy. There was an elevator too. Which was great for my disabled mother. There were 3 adults and 6 kids and we had plenty of room. And the access to the beach was right at the bottom of the deck stairs! The stay was the best ever.
