Sunset House Downstairs is a two story residence with the downstairs, upstairs or both levels available for rentals. Enjoy the relaxed feel of Florida away from the hustle and bustle of traffic and crowds. This is the way a vacation is supposed to be. Sunset House has an unobstructed view of the Gulf and is steps away from the most beautiful sugar sand beach anywhere. The beach is very safe for families. There is no undertow due to being sheltered by the St. Joseph Peninsula and an offshore sandbar. Sunset House Downstairs has 2 bedrooms and 1.5 baths and has just been completely renovated. I always try to stay at Sunset House when I come to Mexico Beach. The rental is always very clean and just across the street from the beach. The pool is an added feature and really nice also.

We had a great vacation. We come down every year for a month to 3 months. We've stayed in a few homes in Mexico Beach over the past 5 years. This home is by far the best, and had everything we needed! Great location close to everything & a private fenced yard for the Dogs (downstairs). The home had everything we needed supplied and cut down on the usual items we have to bring down.
We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Only 1 very small issue. If people are in the upper unit, they may need to be reminded that there are people downstairs. Honestly, was a huge issue unless there were kids.

We had the most wonderful time. We were so grateful to have our two dogs with us. The fenced side yard was perfect. The sunsets were some of the prettiest we have seen. We enjoyed ourselves so much. Thank you.

I stayed at the Sunset House in the downstairs unit with my husband and 3 children (ages 7, 9 and 12). It was a little bit crowded for the 5 of us and the unit smelled extremely musty. But there were many things we loved about the unit. It was nicely decorated. I loved the how the garage connected to the unit...all we needed was the garage door code... no keys to keep up with! I also appreciated the use of the laundry room. It was also very close to the beach and our area of the beach was not crowded at all. Very enjoyable and relaxing!

Newport, TNWonderful View!

The rental was beautifully decorated, nice little touches throughout, well appointed. Very close to the beach, fantastic view of the beach. Road noise is a bit much during the day, and beware if you are on the bottom level, if there is a family with children on the upper floor, because the foot stomping is awful! That was the only downfall of our stay. I think the bottom level was nicer than the upper, but the upper sleeps 7 vs. lower sleeps 5. The only wish was for a dishwashing machine, would have made it completely ideal. :-)

Overalll our stay was good ~ arrived at the house and upon walk in we were hit with an extremely musty smell which is not good for allergic people. We had to air out the house for hours before we could enjoy being in the house. Once aired out ~ we enjoyed it.
Advertised as having a full kitchen with dishwasher - no dishwasher!
Kitchen furnished wonderfully.
Carpet extremely dirty in one bedroom.
Pool was clean and great.
Garage and laundry area also had extremely musty smell.

We had a great time at the Sunset house. A short one minute walk and you were on the beach. Every night, you can sit on the porch and watch the sun go down over the gulf. There were only a couple of downsides. First, the only seating in the living room is two uncomfortable love seats. Next, some of the silverware and dishes were dirty when we arrived, prompting us to prewash anything we planned on using, and there is not a dishwasher. Finally, the only TV is in the living room, so if you like to watch TV in bed you would need to bring your own. None of these issues would necessarily prevent me from staying here again, but they were on inconveniences, and that's not something you want on a vacation. Though we were there a time of year where it was a little too cold to use, the pool was beautiful and very inviting. We had a great time!

From booking the house to our check out, the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. The home was spacious, clean and had all the amenities we needed to relax and just enjoy some time off. The pool was a great option when the kids were tired of the sand, and being so close to the beach gave us flexibility every day. Only suggestion, cook at the house! Not too many good experiences at the local restaurants. It is worth a trip to the Piggly or Winn Dixie!
