Studio is on the third floor of historic 1936 Art Deco Royal Hotel, now a condo-hotel. Studio overlooks the Jacuzzi and the Solarium on second floor. Easy access from Miami International Airport by bus 150, getting off at Washington Avenue and 9th Street, just one block from the studio. There is a city parking garage around the corner on 7th Street and Collins Avenue for about $15.00 daily.

I travel to South Beach several times a year and have stayed in a few different units in the Royal South Beach Hotel & Condos (where this unit is located). I brought my mother on the most recent trip as a surprise for her 60th birthday. We spent one night in South Beach and then boarded a cruise for a week.
I chose this property because I was familiar with its location and knew it was adequate for our needs. I chose this specific unit because it was more affordable than other places on a Saturday night in January ($120 + 13% tax = $135.60) and showed a full size bed and a pull-out sofa. Since I was traveling with my mother, I preferred two beds and the other units in the Royal that I had stayed in previously only had one bed. It also stated that it was in a quieter part of the building, which ended up being true. It overlooked the hot tub / patio area and Washington avenue, so there was a little traffic noise, but nothing that kept us awake. There's a club on the first floor that can apparently be heard from other units, but we couldn't hear it. I had been in contact with the owner alberto via e-mail and my deposit and balance were charged to my credit card before I arrived with no problems. According to the e-mails I was supposed to be given unit #325.
Upon check-in I went up to the room I was given... and it was a totally different unit than the one pictured. The one I was given was decorated a little nicer, but it only had one bed. My mom and I made do... but it was a little awkward since I was trying to make my mother's 60th birthday celebration memorable and the first night we had to share a bed!
Other than the bed shortage, the room was adequate. Plenty of toiletries and a hair dryer were a nice touch in the bathroom. Unfortunately there was a lack of dishes and utensils in the unit. We were planning on heating up leftovers and eating them for breakfast on the morning we left, but since there were no plates we ate the food cold because we didn't want to put Styrofoam in the microwave! The kitchen appliances were new and in good shape. There was a flat screen TV in the unit, but it was tiny. Given that the price of Hdtvs has decreased significantly over the years, I would think that a larger screen would be a good upgrade.Response from Alberto Velez - 05/03/2013

I am very glad you had a good time in South Beach, regardless of the inconvenience of the room changed. Unfortunately, things happens, and what happened in your case was that the lady at the front desk made a mistake and gave my unit to someone else, and then sent my guests to another unit. She was new at the job, and did not last long, as it happened more than once. Please come back anytime, on me, for a totally different experience. I do have a queen bed and a queen sofabed, plus a kitchenette with all the necessary to prepare a light meal.

The Room was clean, with a small fridge, sink, dishes and microwave which turned out to be very practical to have breakfast. It was cute for the price and very well located - walking distance to the beach and good restaurants!

Location is perfect, just 2-3 blocks from ocean drive! Small but comfort and clean room. You can cook something small, because there is toaster, hotplate, microwave and fridge. You don't have to bring your own beach towels or beach chairs. We did enjoy very well! Perfect for young couple or single one!

Small but nice and clean apartment. I highly recommend this studio for anybody who wants to stay close to the ocean. Especially the solarium (terrace) with its jacuzzi tub was awesome.
We really enjoyed our stay in SoBe.

This place was close to everything we ever wanted...A great location and hotel for anyone who is not wishing to stay in the hotels. Also, the internet worked great, we were a few blocks from the beach, the bus stop is just 1 minute away and the shops and hotels are all nearby...Loved it

The condo was everything you would need for a nice trip in South Beach, it is in the heart of SoBe- close to restaurants, nightlife, 3 blocks from the beach and the heart of Ocean Drive. The condo is exactly how it is described and is absolutely the best deal I have ever found for a vacation in South Beach on a budget! The condo is offers the necessities in simple comfort and you shouldn't really be spending that much time in the room in Miami anyway! We had a great time!

We took a chance at this hotel and we got lucky! We had a great time and had everything that we needed. This place is walking distance from the Beach and all of the South Beach Restaurants , Clubs, etc. The room was clean and comfortable, had a Refrigerator and Microwave, and Wifi. It is a perfect place for couples or singles that want to get away and not spend a lot of money, great value! So you know, this Hotel is a Condo-Hotel and if you talk to the owner you will get a better deal. We’ll be back!!!

A wonderful place to stay and enjoy South Beach to the max. Clean, clean, clean. Microwave, coffee pot, fridge, even beach towels. Where else can you go for fabulous rates, a place two blocks from the beach and even can sit on the open air balcony on the second floor and people watch. Reception so friendly and so helpful. It was holiday time and alberto even had a mini Christmas tree for ambiance. You will love this wonderful place and tell all of your friends at home just like we did.

My experience at the Royal South Beach Hotel was as great as I had expected! I loved the room decor and all of the sunlight that the room has. It has a mini kitchen (great if you don't feel like eating out all the time) and free wi-fi! I loved every aspect of my stay and I'm looking forward to visiting Miami again to stay at this prime location and room! :)
It's clean and it has all of the amenities that you need!
You won't be disappointed!
