Fort Collins, Colorado, United StatesGreat Vacation Rental
Left on 02/08/2013 for a stay in January 2012
We stayed at Sundial Villa with our two young boys, ages 4 and 7, over New Years 2012. The beach was amazing. Very secluded. We only saw a few other people that were staying at houses along the beach. Look for Tboy to bring up fresh fish, lobster and conch to the metal table on the beach. This is the way to eat during your stay! The house was just what we needed. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking meals and the beds were comfortable. It was exactly what we needed for our stay and we would happily return again.

43325Quiet and peaceful and good value
Left on 04/13/2012 for a stay in March 2012
This rental was very nice and a good value. T he beach is about 50 yards from the house. Keep in mind that this is a duplex so there may be other people in the adjacent house. At the time I rented there were no other people. There is also a house directly on the beach that appears in the middle of construction. The sand is a little rough directly at the beach access, the sand varies as you go down the beach sometimes very soft and other times a little more course.
The house has a good fridge, electric stove, a bread machine (very useful if you bring your own mixes), There are some movies and a TV if you want. The water can be crystal clear at times when the wheather is good. You can walk to some of the islands.
It is approximately 5 miles from Conch bar so you will not be walking to Daniels cafe. I would not rely on restaurants and plan to bring groceries for the whole time as the grocery store in North Caicos is about 1 hour drive.
I am not into busy areas so this was perfect for me. Coffee on a quiet beach in the morning and simple meals at night during sunset. What a wonderful peaceful place. The beds were comfortable and I like the porches.
I did se a big cockroach under the sink but that is to be expected in the tropics. There were also ants, so keep the food in the fridge to minimize them.
The bathroom was a little run down but acceptable. I have included photos for reference. Overall I would say this is a good place for a quiet vacation on a beautiful beach. Not for everyone as it is a little difficult to get to and you will likely not be eatingout much. I have some details and phone numbers on a review I did on Mudjin harbor for Daniels Cafe and other information for Middle Caicos.
There are other rentals on this beach that may be a little nicer. There was a red roofed rental just west that I heard was nice. about a 10 minute walk west down the beach there is some good snorkeling. The house has some information on how to get to the small coral heads.
It would have been nice to be able to rent a Kayak or have some bikes to get to Conch bar. I wish they had a rake also to get some of the pine seeds moved (I would have done this myself) I did have a car that I rented in North Caicos. The road from North to Middle is very rough and I have included a photo of the Causeway damage from the hurricane. It is definately slow going getting from North to the house. Probably 1 hr +. It is worth it though.
You need to turn left at the power station before you get to the airport in order to get to Conch bar as you are heading east. Then an immediate right to stay on the main road. After you pass conch bar it is about 5 miles and you will see a unpaved road going off at 10 Oclock take that and you will pass a couple houses and see the pinkish douplex off to the left.
I picked up groceries and got gas on North Caicos before. North has limited groceries, some meats, milk, pop, water, some fruit, chips, candy and a few pastas and canned goods. The IGa in provo has more but you can get by with the groceries in north. The prices are basically the same.
Gas was $6.26 a gallon and I used about 1 tank of gas over 4 days. We went to North twice once for a restaurant and once for groceries.
There are people hitchhiking rides. I wasn't sure about picking them up. I am sure it would be safe as there are not many people on the island, although not knowing the area I decided not to.
The house had airconditioning and fans. Fans were OK at night but some mosquitos would get in and I had a couple bites each night so we closed it up and turned the air on the last two nights
The beach was pretty clean (not a lot of garbage). Expect seaweed as this is an ungroomed beach but very natural which I liked.
I generally thought it was safe, we did lock up the house when we left. The front lock was kind of a pain and got stuck a lot.Response from murray mckitrick - 04/23/2012

Hi Chris
Thanks for coming and for your comments. Great idea to leave a rake in the tiki hut.
Best regards

Stouffville, ONWe are Belongers!
Left on 03/19/2012 for a stay in April 2011
Hi Murray,
We had the most fantastic time at your villa! We are not resort types... we like seclusion and well, we found it! We had the whole beach to ourselves most of the time. The water was so beautiful and warm. The sun shone the whole time. We snorkeled nearly every day. We saw more than 35 species of fish, countless corals, a bounty of other marine life, without ever spending a nickel on a tour! We walked out to Pelican Cay two different days and snorkeled around it. We saw several rays on the sandbar, including, after much debate, research and speculation, what we decided could only be a Manta ray!! It was nearly 6 feet wide, with no spots and it followed us along through the silt we were churning up. I told the kids that was the best day of my life so far. I told my husband that I hoped we hadn't ruined the kids by bringing them somewhere so fantastic while they were so young. He said it was the perfect experience for them.
We met your friends Leonard and Cheryl and their friend Margot from Nunavut. Leonard took us to Mudjin harbour for the morning and we swam and snorkeled there with Margot and explored the Dragon Cay. They were so incredibly nice to us, it makes me think that you and Lynda must be pretty special people.
Thank you so much for renting us your villa! It may be kind of corny to say, but the morning after we arrived, I said to my husband "I feel like I'm at home. I feel like I belong here." He said he did too.
Much thanks and warm regards,
Tonde -

60745Great, with the exception of the "no-see-ums"
Left on 03/05/2012 for a stay in February 2012
Everything was perfect, with a few exceptions that marred the experience.
1. No-see-ums bit us immediately. My husband did not itch, my daughter (30 years old) and I could not have endured it had we not brought Hydrocortizone cream 2% which is very effective after you are bitten. We solved the issue by closing all the windows and doors (they get through mesh screens) and using the aC. We did not get out at dawn and sun-set, which was a pity, that being the best time for the colors of the sea and sky.
2. We were told we would have no neighbors, but the house is a twin, with an identical unit wall to wall, and with no separation in the verandas front and back. We were lucky that the neighbors were exceptionally nice people.
3. The advance shopping at the Island Pride was sketchy - I recommend if possible to buy everything yourself at IGa, which you have to visit for the liquor, and which is identical to a North american supermarket.
4. one should be warned that the prices are on the high side - higher than in Boston on many items. -

We just wanted to let you know that our trip to your villa was amazing. It was paradise spending long lazy days on the beach, which goes on for miles. It seemed that we had it all to ourselves.
The tiki hut was a perfect place to catch a breeze or take an afternoon nap. We spent endless hours in the ocean, it was so warm. We also enjoyed going out on the boat with Dolphus, he knew just where to catch fish and the kids really enjoyed the snorkeling.
The villa was just right. The screened in porch which is where we held our running scrabble tournament and ate dinner some nights was perfect. The kitchen was well equipped and being able to pre-order our groceries prior to coming down, made the trip that much easier. We also enjoyed our dinner out at Danny's Cafe in Conch Bar, it was our date night.
Spending time at Dragon Cay at Mujin Harbour was a highlight. It is a little piece of heaven on earth. The caves were just outside of Conch Bar are a must.
Overall this vacation was one or our favorites and so we re-booked for this summer. We are getting married and we are looking forward to spending our honeymoon at your Caribbean paradise!
