Great holiday, lovely if a little quirky cottage. Unfortunately we had to come home early due to snow. Thouroughly enjoyed otherwise

The house was OK but in need of a little modernisation and there are a lot of steps inside - but fairly clean and in a good position.

I am very familiar with this area and think is one of the 2 best places in the world. As I now live in the other it was wonderful to come back to Middleham. Foxtor was ideal for us and very well equipped and comfortable. Especially loved having the wood stove. I would buy this place in a heartbeat!
Our early arrival was accommodated easily and we were joined by my brother for a couple of days rather last minute and the caretaker ensured we were covered for linens etc.
I found the configuration of the house charming, but you definitely have to be OK with stairs and probably the only thing missing was a dryer, we tried using the rack in the specified location and it took a couple of days to dry the heavier items. (we visited in November, with warmer temps this might not be the case) We relocated the drying rack to in front of the heater and this was fine so not actually a big deal. Just a comment

Foxtor House was a terrific place for our holiday visiting Yorkshire, centrally located in a lovely friendly village. Even though it's next door to the pub (which has great meals), and opposite the local grocery shop, it was very quiet. It has nooks & crannies and winding stairs, and the thick walls meant that once it had warmed up (it had been empty for several days) it stayed lovely and warm. The kitchen was well equipped and the lounge was comfortable. The only things we weren't so keen on were the rather hard beds and the weird toilet in the en suite. However, we would be very happy to go back there for another holiday. The owners were very pleasant and helpful.
