      Lovely, well-equipped cottage

Left on 03/03/2013 for a stay in August 2012

Jade Cottage was our base during a week-long stay in Middleham.

First impressions of the cottage were very good, and we particularly liked the small touch of the complimentary wine, flowers and essentials on arrival.

The cottage was decorated in a very tasteful way, with both modern and period features such as the open fire (which was great on cold nights) and had a fully equipped kitchen, a variety of books, CDs and games and pretty much everything else you would require.
The cleanliness of the cottage was of a high standard and the bathroom was pleasant too, apart from the door which required a lot of effort to close.

The only real complaints we had were the access into the cottage and the location... While Middleham is a lovely and peaceful, classic English village, it was difficult not to make comparisons with the market town of Helmsley where we stayed the previous year.

Middleham's variety of restaurants, for one, were not sufficient to satisfy our needs which led us to spend a lot of time in the nearby villages of Bedale and Layburn, whereas Helmsley had a more impressive variety of eateries.

The weather was not particularly great during our stay, however, therefore the village would probably have been perfect to stroll around and further entertainment would not have been required. With nicer weather, Jade Cottage would be a perfect base for a week's relaxing or local exploration.

      Quaint cottage

Left on 09/13/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Really enjoyed our stay here. Lovely cottage just the right size for myself and my 2 children. All furnishings and fittings excellent and we had a really cosy stay. Loved the welcome pack and wine. Parking was a bit of a downside with it being impossible to get up the lane without knocking into the wheelie bins lined up at the side but solved that by parking in the village square. Middleham itself is very picturesque and a lovely base for exploring Wensleydale.
      A real find!

The perfect place to relax and unwind...

Left on 05/27/2012 for a stay in December 2011

On arrival a surprise touch was a bottle of wine and fresh flowers. The cottage was fully equipped with everything you could possible think to need. It's location is ideal for all the local amenities, never known a village to have so many places to choose from to eat, drink and be very merry. The locals are very friendly too. You are Guaranteed a great holiday at Jade Cottage.

      Beautifully Equipped Cottage

Left on 07/14/2010 for a stay in May 2010

This lovely old cottage with huge open fireplace & woodburning stove was wonderfully equipped & very comfortable throughout. It was in the centre of a very attractive village with racehorses clip-clopping close by each morning. Only drawback was the narrow access drive with wheelie bins on one side but one could park free on the nearby market place, a minor quibble.

      Fantastic Cottage

Left on 02/26/2010 for a stay in March 2009

This was an extremely well furnished and equiped cottage with lot of nice touches, like the loaf of bread and pint of milk on arrival. It is set in a lovely area with plenty of places to eat if you dont want to cook yourself.

Left on 02/20/2010 for a stay in November 2009

There is very little to dislike about Jade Cottage
and Middleham both are really very nice. The Cottage is finished to a very high standard and is well equiped. Middleham has everything you require and all a very short distance from the Cottage.

cosy cottage, lovely food, walkers heaven, the perfect holiday!!

Left on 02/19/2010 for a stay in October 2008

The cottage was delightful, and the fresh flowers and a bottle of wine on arrival was so welcoming.

To see the race horses going to the gallops early every morning remains in our memories, and ensures we shall not forget the lovely village of middleham.

We found some great gastro pubs near by and those in the village were lovely too.

All in all with great country walks, a perfect place to stay.
