This stone built, end-terrace cottage in the North Yorkshire market town of Middleham sleeps three people in two bedrooms. Cartmel Cottage is a stone built, end-terrace cottage just off the main square of the North Yorkshire market town of Middleham just a couple of miles from Leyburn. The cottage contains one double and one single bedroom which with the addition of a family bathroom make it suitable for three people. All prices are inclusive of the booking fee. The "Min. Per Night" prices quoted are based on the weekly rental price, they are not applicable for short breaks. See our short break policy or ask for further details.
Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.

We have just had 3 nights at Cartmel Cottage and enjoyed every minute. The cottage was modern, spotless and well equipped. It is centrally placed for pubs and shops, parking on the square is less than 100 yards from the doorstep. We took our dog, the downstairs is practical with an entrance porch to wipe muddy paws and wooden floors, there is also an enclosed patio/gravel garden to the front. Dogs are welcomed in the local pubs so it was easy to eat out without having to use the car. Racehorses passed the cottage every morning starting at 7am which is amazing to watch, its worth braving the cold on the gallops to see them in action. We hope to visit again in the near future.

Just spent a week at Cartmel Cottage in Middleham and it was wonderful. The cottage has charm and character, it is fully equipped and in a fantastic location. Each morning horses from the Mark Johnson stables pass the window. They really are a sight to behold. Middleham is paradise for racing fans as there are so many famous racing stables in the village. It is well worth visiting the low moor each morning and watching the horses being put through their paces. The village has a shop and four pubs with first class food being served in both the Black Swan and the White Swan. The Richard the III doesn't serve food but you can take your own sandwiches in and be welcomed by Kevin and his family. We had a really interesting night in the Black Bull. They were playing 1940's radio which was very different. If you don't fancy eating out there is a fish and chip shop and possibly the best Chinese restaurant /takeaway in the north. The village is a brilliant starting point for walkers. We took our dog with us and she was welcomed everywhere. I would recommend Cartmel Cottage to anyone as the perfect place to relax and recharge your batteries.

Plenty of space for two (or three) well decorated and furnished, modern kitchen - and facilities (Sky, jacuzzi bath etc). Middleham is great for the Dales and excellent if you are into horse racing, but this cotttage faces the main through road and access to the front is tricky (no parking/waiting in front). The photo shows a nice garden with seating, but this is also to the front and as the road is busy in the day, we did not want to sit at the front.
However, by talking to the White Swan pub, you can park and access at the rear of the cottage, through the hotel courtyard and public footpath/back lane access.
Needs a few extra items, like bedside tables and reading lamps, but otherwise very good value -

Cottage was comfortable but lacked personal touches such as lights and bedside cabinets to be able to read at night.
Also kitchen and bathroom bins would be nice -

We have just returned from Cartmel Cottage after spending the Easter Holiday weekend in Middleham. The cottage was well equiped and lacked for nothing needed on a day to day basis. The heating is fantastic and warms the cottage up within minutes. We would definitely stay here again with no hesitation.

the cottage was cosy, very clean, it had a well fitted out kitchen with everything you needed. The location was excellent for both touring and dining out in Middleham.
I would definately recommend this cottage to others.
