Mijas is one of the most picturesque white villages in the Costa del Sol with its cobble stoned narrow streets and pretty squares. As you meander along its streets you will hear the clip clop of horses hooves and bells as horse drawn carriages sweep past you, the horses cantering along. Another familiar sight is of tourists riding donkeys (El burro taxi)- This spectacular mountain village draws tourists to it like a magnet, and little wonder as it nestles into a backdrop of mountains with its panoramic views over the countryside and to the Mediterranean sea beyond. There are white washed traditional houses, their balconies spilling over with pots of red geraniums. and street vendors selling hot sugared almonds all adding to the sights of this bustling mountain village.
Just a short drive from Malaga Airport, Mijas has a timeless quality about it, and despite the large number of tourists who regularly visit it, retains its Spanish essence and character. For this reason it is sought out as an exclusive holiday destination, and also by those who decide to live here on a permanent basis. Mijas offers you excellent choices β within the village itself traditional Spanish style townhouses or luxury modern apartments, and in the surrounding suburbs a choice ranging from medium sized townhouses to large luxurious villas set within their own grounds.
