The house was beautiful and the location was great but the huge roaches in the kitchen and bathroom really spoiled it. We will not return.

It is wonderful that you enjoyed the location and felt the home was beautiful, but I am saddened to hear that you had some unwanted visitors in the home. We do take every measure to ensure that outside insects do not enter the homes by having pest control spray on a regular basis, but unfortunately the palmetto bugs do find their way in. These bugs are often mistaken for roaches, but they are not. They are also very common in this area, in and around the beaches, but we understand when our out of town guests come to visit, they are unfamiliar with their existence.
We hope that you will return and we will be sure to exceed your expectations on your next vacation!

It was a beautiful building and great location.Building was not inspected before arrival. Air conditioner did not work, not hot water , Gas grill nasty, hot top not heated. We called with concerns and after many calls they were fIxed the next day by 3 pm.1e had 10 unhappy ,hot dirty misreable guests.Half of our vacation was ruined. Th next 1& half days left wad very enjoyable.There is no common bath room on the main floor.Those who sleep on the sofa bed have to go to the bed room to use the bath room.Excellent for 3 families only due to bath. Bath rooms are only in bedrooms.

Lots of room to roam, the martini pool was great for late evenings. We rented a golf cart to make the short trip to the beach easier since we carried chairs, coolers and beach bags. The pool was very nice although the bathrooms have a code so had to run back to the house. The master bedroom was very spacious but the jacuzzi was a very old model. The grounds keeper or termite contractors came by almost everyday we were there early in the morning. The kitchen was great and roomy enough for a few people. Great view from the Master suite and Loft room. Loved the porches!

The Creating Memories house is beautiful! The layout of the house is great! The views are incredible! The cleanliness of the house was disappointing. When we arrived we saw a snake cross the sidewalk. Inside we experienced several tiny lizards , and roaches in the second floor bathroom. Extra cleaning needs to be done (baseboards were filthy ) and maybe some cosmetic repair. The air conditioner needs to be serviced.
Southern Resorts were so wonderful to deal with. We will definitely be using them again next year!!! Loved the keyless entry!!!Response from Southern Vacation Rentals - 09/15/2012

The location of this house was great! We had teens and it was nice for them to be able to walk to the beach and pool alone. The outdoor grill & martini pool were great! The house is nice and roomy, however it was very lacking in cleanliness! Walls & carpet felt dirty, corners and baseboards were extremely dirty. The yard was in dire need of upkeep! We had a problem with ants in the kitchen and it took 4 days for the exterminator to get there! Also, the garbage disposal quit working 2 days before our departure.

Everything was wonderful. Would like to see a booklet regarding garbage day, how to check out maybe places to go. The only thing the house was missing was a metal grill spatula. Also, I did not get an email with the house code as the previous emails had stated and had to call once in Destin...but I would use your rental service again.

We spent a week at Creating Memories the first week of July. The house is beautiful and has a great view, the check in couldn't be easier. But, the master toilet was broken when we got there, and several other little things were 'not right' with the house, including a spring sticking out of one of the kids beds that cut both my son and me. The air kept the first floor cool, the second floor tolerable (kind of) and the third floor loft unusable. I know that the mgt was likely overwhelmed during this holiday week, but they were not responsive in my opinion. Can't recommend staying here. Oh, and the toilet didn't get fixed till late Monday, and we never received a call from anyone apologizing for renting the house with this known issue. The toilet was cracked badly and the water had been shut off before we arrived letting me know that this was not a surprise to the mgt. Not cool.

We loved this home. It was beautiful and spacious and had everything you could possibly need. The shared pool was really nice. The wrap around balconies were beautiful with breathtaking scenes. My only complaint is that the unit has a single air conditioner and it didn't quite keep the upper levels cool until 2 days into our stay. Our bedrooms on the second floor stayed luke warm (uncomfortable for sleeping) for the majority of the evenings. The downstairs stay very cold because we were trying to get the ac to move upstairs. Otherwise, the house was wonderful and we loved it!

The property was chosen because of the proximity to other homes that my siblings were able to rent on the occasion of my mother's memorial service.
We were disappointed in the readiness of the home, there were no linens for the pull out couches, nor enough towels to go around and the Martini pool was very dirty.
The management did react quickly to the situation the following day, but we felt that for the price, there should not have been the follow up on our part to make the visit without stress.

The home was very nice, but the location was exceptional. The volleyball pit and tennis courts were great. The walk to the beach was very short and safe. The only negative comments are that the amenities that are 'shared' with the Enclave are very limited. The 'clubhouse' remained locked at all times with the exception of 'Senior Citizens' preparing for their parties. No admittance to the clubhouse. We were told that there was a hot tub, we have yet to find it.. The home had a Martini Pool that was not heated and needed updating. The maintenance on the home was lacking (i.e. light fixtures needed bulbs, kitchen light had to have maintenance workers attention during our stay, loft room had an order from the mini fridge and sink, ceiling fans too high to adjust speed, tiny broom for sweeping up tracked in sand). The gas grill having a hookup to a main line rather than a 'tank' was a huge plus. This home's huge plus factors are location and size. It is a lovely home with a beautiful view from each balcony. It was also a good rental price with the exception of all the fees that Florida mandates the rentals to add.

We just returned from Spring Break at "Making Memories" in Destin. The house was perfect. It's my undertanding that it was the first week it was available for rental, and we were thrilled to be able to call it home for almost a week! There were a few issues like the "stopper" in the master tub didn't have a "pullie", and it needed to be a little cleaner near the jet, but overall the house was great. We did not have great weather, and we were so fortunate to have so much room for two teenagers and parents to spread out on cold and rainy days! The proximity to the beach is perfect! We have been coming to Destin for years and have stayed in several hotels and condos and have wanted to try a house rental - we will never go back to hotels again!!!
