The Hideaway was everything it promised! It has a great location and the place was clean and well supplied. The owner was friendly and offered plenty of local info. I'd schedule another stay there without hesitation.
While in the area the best thing we did for Tim's Tours!Response from William Eckert - 12/06/2012

Can't remember if it was 2009 or 2010 when we stayed here, just thought I would check and see if it was listed on Trip advisor while writing another review and even a few years after our stay the property was so wonderful I wanted to review.
What you see in the photos is exactly what you get, no unpleasant suprises.
It was super clean, comfortable and well stocked.
Bill and Calina were excellent hosts!
It was nice to come back here after a day of sight seeing and grill up some steaks, glass of wine and relax, almost like coming home.
The property also has a washer & dryer in the apartment so was wonderful to come home with clean clothes!
If ever I return to San Diego this is where I will book, won't even look anywhere else.
Our deposit was returned in full with in a week of check out, no hasslesResponse from William Eckert - 08/10/2012

Can't wait for Kate & Rich to return to our Mission Bay Hideaway. It was December 2009, and we really appreciate these kind remarks, especially after this length of time since the visit. Please hurry back!

It really doesn't matter what I say because I am sure you will be told a different story. It was a lovely place and Bill was a very nice host, but the parking was not what was promised and they cancelled the deposit check after issuing it, and only returned a portion of the deposit money. Bill said his wife made him do it. Just to repeat, they refused to return all of the deposit money, because we were a half hour late leaving past check out. This was not an overnight stay, we rented the house for 3 or 4 days. I have two small children and an elderly grandmother. Bill was not around when we left. I would not stay there again. They did not return the deposit! Petty Petty Petty.

This was a learning experience for us. We remember this family, even though it was a year & 7 months ago that they stayed with us, because of the atrocious state in which they left our apartment. It was not just the fact that they left late, but also the fact that we had to pay Housekeeping more for getting the apartment ready for the next family, that we deducted $50 from the $100 refund.
Subsequent to this experience, we did 2 things to improve conditions for our guests: (1) We enlarged our parking area by working with the local gas company to move our Gas Meters to the far end of our home. This now allows our guests to pull well into the parking area with no obstructions; and (2) We now send each of our guests an advance copy of our check-out policy, which lists several simple things they can do to help make it easier for Housekeeping to get the apartment ready for the next guests. We're pleased to say that this has worked out splendidly. With very few exceptions, our subsequent guests have treated our Mission Bay Hideaway very well, and have made Housekeeping's job immensely easier. -

Our family (2 adults, 3 children under 12) stayed this past summer for a week and had an amazing and wonderful getaway. The accommodations were just right. There was enough space for us to get comfortable, and the home was perfectly positioned between the bay and ocean. Steps away from both allowed for us to waste away the days with ease :-) The owners were available, if needed, very nice and fun to talk with. We loved our stay!

My husband and 3yr old daughter have just returned from our stay at Mission Bay. This is a lovely place to be based- this rental is modern, clean, extremely child friendly and fully equipped.(couldnt have asked for more). Our hosts Bill and Calina were wonderful-friendly and helpful. The property is close to the bay & beach, a childrens play area and essentials likes Ralphs (great supermarket) and a really easy drive to all the wonderful family attractions San Diego has to offer.Everything we were looking for in our stay. I would certainly highly recommend this property.

This is our 6th vacation to Dan Diego and every year we're disappointed with out rental. This year was different. The Eckert's rental by far was the nicest, cleanest place we've been to. Everything is new,(except bikes and beach chairs). The ice maker is a big plus. We loved the courtyard which is very secluded from the neighbors. Where their house is located, The beach is a two minute walk and the bay is three units away. After six years we finally found our vacation destination in San Diago. By the way, those bikes worked great!

It was our second (and, hopefully, not the last) stay at Mission Bay Hideaway. This time it was even better than before - we knew the place very well and our baby was 6 months older.
We had everything we needed for comfortable life and more - steaks were on sale at Ralph's and we used a grill a lot.
Our baby loved to watch birds on the beach - there were plenty of pelicans, wild ducks, seagulls, etc. The fish were jumping out of the water. The sunsets are always spectacular!
This time, my husband even bicycled around - the boardwalk is perfect for that.
Wireless internet and digital TV worked flawlessly.
We enjoyed our privacy but if we needed something, wonderful Bill and Calina were immediately available.
I had been missing this place since May and was excited to discover a webcam at Catamaran resort nearby showing "our" beach 24/7! I am looking at it again, from my East Coast, and feel that today, just ten days after we left, I am already missing the place!
But wait, I'll see it again in May 2010!

We found the place in great shape when we got there, the location was very good, very close to the bay and also to the beach, my wife is in a wheel chair and we found it very good in that respect.
The only down side was that we would have liked better provisions to keep the place clean ( a good broom etc.) and the parking was not the best, I have a small truck and it was a very tight squeese. But I would go there again without a Secound thought. We had a great time and I would recomend it to anyone. Brian Harris
