The beach access is immediate. The parking is ridiculous with one tiny garage.
The floors were bare concrete on the main level, and the windows were uncovered,
allowing all passersby to see right into the living quarters, including into the upstairs
bathroom. There is no real place to sit and visit with friends. The only sitting area was concrete. I would never have agreed to stay in this place, had I been able to see
what was going on inside.Response from Bluewater Vacation Homes - 12/03/2012

We are so sorry you were less than happy with the accommodations. We try to do our best to explain the attributes of each home, layout and amenities because we want to make sure that the home is suitable for each guest's individual requirements and they are 100% satisfied. We did our best to accommodate all of your requests, including purchasing area rugs, but the photos do depict the living quarters accurately and the listing does state that the parking garage is very limited in size. The windows are highly reflective mirrors during the day but you can peer into the lower level at night with the lights on. You should have been told this prior to booking, but it sounds like you weren't. We have many homes to choose from, and most of the guests who choose this home, understand the attributes and limitations, and generally choose it for the architecture and spectacular 58 feet of ocean front that it offers. We would be happy to find you a more suitable home for your group should you visit San Diego in the future.

After exhaustive research, I rolled the dice on surprising my wife with this birthday treat :-) The Hotel Del Coronado was highly recommended but $500/night was only going to get us a partial ocean view. Same story on almost every other available choice.
When I saw the pictures of the 'Icon' I knew it was our kind of 'funky' and we were not disappointed. Absolutely awesome to have a whole house, and one funky house at that, all to ourselves! I could have personally done tours and booked the place for the next year with all the people I spoke to about it as they walked by. Most people couldn't help stopping and staring at it :-) (it could be due to the almost solid wall of glass that makes up nearly the entire front of the house and how beautifully it reflects the ocean as well as the hair-dos of every passerby).
Kendra, Jenny, Hugo, and Dan were all awesome, committed, responsive, and friendly and I really felt like how our trip went mattered to them.
We will be going back! -

Los AngelesExactly what you'd hope for a beach-front house!

Fantastic beach-side rental for our reunion of a group of grad school friends. House is gorgeous, right on the boardwalk in front of the beach. We grilled, people-watched, played volleyball, and just enjoyed what Mission Beach was all about! The house is right in the heart of everything. One note...tiny garage so if you have a big car you'll have trouble parking in the garage.
Staff was great and very helpful in addressing all our questions and needs. We couldn't ask for anything more. Thanks for helping facilitate a great trip for our group! -

Our family of 4 recently rented this Mission Beach Icon and we had a fabulous time! The location is terrific! The house is fun and the view is awesome. One morning we woke up and saw that we had a school of dolphins playing in the waves, in front of the house. We were able to watch them swim around and we didn't even have to lift our heads off the pillow. We stayed at this house for 9 days and during that time family, friends and relatives came to visit us. They were able to stay at the Surfer Hotel, just a short walk down the boardwalk. We ate a bunch of meals at the World Famous Seafood restaurant that's connected to the Surfer hotel and everything worked out terrific! I highly recommend the Clam Chowder at World Famous! Everyone enjoyed our vacation in Mission Beach and we're already looking forward to next year.

I can't say enough about the excellent service leading up to, during, and after my stay at the Mission Beach Icon property in Feb 2012! Kendra Krause and the rest of the Team at Bluewater Vacation Homes couldn't have been more helpful, flexible, and accommodating throughout the whole process. The property was amazing and the location was great! I definitely would recommend staying at this location!

Stayed in the house for one week together with 5 other guys. The space is well enough for 5-6 people sharing the beds so it was perfect!
The location just on the beach front walk is great with a nice outside seating area with a fire place and nice view.
Bluewater helped us arrange a nice welcome with cold champagne waiting upon our arrival in a very customer friendly way which was very appreciated!
I would recommend this house anytime but if you want sun and beach I suggest going earlier than October when the weather and beach life outside is more lovely, then it should be even better! -

Dream come true to stay in a beautful home on the ocean walk. Waking up to that expansive view of the ocean was dreamy. Kendra with Flipkey and BlueWater Vacation was terrific: helpful, friendly and easy to get in contact with. She was a prefect local contact.
