For over 150 years, Virginia’s lush Blue Ridge has provided retreat and recreation for families all over the U.S. As a matter of fact, Thomas Jefferson so loved this area that he built a secret and secluded home--aptly called the "Poplar Forest"--not too far from where this vacation home sits. Though it was almost bulldozed to provide for subdivided lots, historians and citizens gathered and fought the near destruction of Mr. Jefferson's gorgeous retreat. By doing so they not only saved an important piece of our history, but they also preserved a powerful symbol of this area's importance as a place where families retreat to enjoy one an...other, and to make life-long memories.

When you stay here, you’ll also partake in this rich cultural tradition of escaping the daily grind to enjoy your family. Inside you'll enjoy open and functional space that is imbued with warm tones provided by wood floors and natural light. Whether you're sitting on the sofa enjoying cable access or simply resting your eyes on the glistening lake waters or verdant poplar trees, relaxation is inevitable.
