Description from the owner
Our Old French home is located in the heart of the village of Monflanquin which has been awarded the distinction of being "one of the most beautiful villages in France". The home itself was built just before Columbus discovered America in the year 1480. The home exudes the character of that age with its great stone walls and wonderful original wooden beams. However, the home also provides all the amenities that the modern traveller of today would expect. In addition, the home has also been furnished to the highest standard and features, comfortable modern leather furniture, wonderful 18th century antiques, spectacular period Voltaire chairs,...Read more

Additional Location Information
Monflanquin is located in a region which is known as France's "Tuscany". It is located just 60 miles from Bordeaux or 68 miles from Toulouse. The village is nestled in an area where hidden castles abound, lazy rivers flow and prehistoric man roamed and painted the first cave art on the continent. The area offers wonderful opportunities for just lazy days of touring the surrounding villages and markets, peacefully cycling through the countryside, or historical romping throughout the various castles in the region. If its more excitement you seek, why not try exciting canoe rides through areas once settled by prehistoric man or horseback riding, golfing, swimming, hot air ballooning or perhaps a sightseeing tour in a small aircraft over the countryside. Plenty to be done here, and after all your adventures, why not just relax over a nice glass of the local wine.

FloridaSouthern France Perfection!
Left on 04/28/2011 for a stay in April 2011
I've always enjoyed visiting and exploring France and the choice of "Entouré de tournesols" for my latest excursion was the perfect base for Southern France. The home is ideally located to explore the nearby countryside with many lazy days doing exactly that. The home itself is stunning, with all the comforts of home and wonderfully decorated. Monflanquin lives up to its reputation of being " one of the most beautiful villages in France." The home is just a few short steps from the main square and centrally situated to sample the great food and wine that the village has to offer. It was the perfect destination for a romantic getaway!

Portland, Oregon USABeautiful house in a charming 13th century hilltop village
Left on 11/11/2010 for a stay in September 2010
The house on rue de l'Union in Monflanquin is delightful. The kitchen is well equipped with Ikea utensils, housewares, and pots and pans. We cooked many gourmet meals in the large kitchen. The bedrooms were large with very comfortable beds and nice bedding. Bathrooms (and all rooms) were very clean with newly painted walls and carpet. It was nice to have a washer and drying rack available. The location is fantastic - just around the corner from the main square, which also has several good restaurants. The Thursday market is absolutely wonderful, you can get anything you need; fruits and vegetables, meats and seafood, charcuterie, fois gras, wine, dried fruits and nuts, olive oil, bread, and of course cheese. A larger shopping center can be found within 2 miles of the house.
This was our third trip to Monflanquin and we would stay in this house again. We highly recommend it to others looking for a large and spacious accomodation in a beautiful hilltop village. -

TorontoPerfect Homebase For Southern France
Left on 11/05/2010 for a stay in October 2010
Spent a week in this quaint and charming four-story property comfortably nestled in beautiful rural France and located centrally for a range of daily adventures in nearby castles, caves and vineyards. Coming home at night, we felt we were entering a miniature private castle. Bed was cozy, the fireplace warmed our hearts, and we woke to the sounds of pigeons cooing in the rooftops before heading out for fresh bread and cheese (and wine!) at market. Place was squeaky-clean, tastefully decorated and exactly what we needed as a unique honeymoon homebase.

Amsterdam, NetherlandsBeautiful gem in the south of France exceeded our expectations..
Left on 10/20/2010 for a stay in September 2010
Prior to my stay the exchanges with Gary (owner) were positive, professional and helpful. We picked up the keys as instructed and all was well. I'd expected a clean and furninshed home, and got so much more. The decor, deluxe modern and antique furnishing, and appliances were blended perfectly into this extremely cosy and functional home. The artwork and colour scheme of the home are original and lively, and the bedrooms were abolutely glorious. Be it in town, or the countryside, we found so many things to see. Everything there is just so charming. As we love great food and wine, we found ourselves in our own personal heaven sampling all the culinary treats the region has to offer. I hope to do this trip again because the time we spent there was too short, and we'll look to stay in this very place when we return.
