Sleeps 9. Large luxury farmhouse kitchen set in 63 acres, four bedrooms, study, dining room, living room, satellite TV. Wood burning stoves. Gorgeous views and total privacy. All kitchen equipment, linen, towels, heating and wood for fires included. Perched on the edge of the hill with beautiful views across the Wye Valley to the Forest of Dean, the very private Church Hill Farm is hidden away, over half a mile from the nearest road, surrounded by its own land and overlooks the picturesque 11th Century Penallt Old Church. Behind the house ancient woodland provides a perfect backdrop. Deer, badger, foxes, and rabbits roam throughout the property, and the sounds of songbirds fill the air in spring. Buzzards soar in the air above the hill, and at dusk, if you listen carefully, you will hear the sound of bats chattering as they wake up for their evening foray into the air to catch insects.

“Just what we wanted”

We had a wonderful time at Penallt. The house had everything we needed- it was comfortable, had a lounge that we didn’t feel squashed up in (there were 8 of us plus dog) and an area where we could do a bit of work in peace without having to pack it all up for meals. The view over the valley was lovely, and it was great to feel a little isolated. Beds comfy and showers hot. Great surroundings- Good for both a long walk and shorter small child friendly one too. Shame local pub shut in the week, but the Boat Inn was easy to get to. Monmouth is a lovely town and all we needed was there.

Response from the owner I am glad you enjoyed the house and that it was suitable for your wedding arrangements. We often host guests for weddings at Penallt Old Church which is within walking distance as it is just below the house. I apologise for any lightbulbs that may have been out but we do keep a stock of extras in case. Perhaps you missed thenm. Local taxis can be very pricey and we strongly recommend wherever possible that you use a car. The track is a public right of way over which we have no control. We do try to keep it passable but are not permitted to do more work on it as it is not ours. The house is very private and the track affords great security as most people have no idea the house is there, which for us, is one of the main attractions. We don't just have spiders in the area. We are lucky to have a huge range of wildlife including bats, deer and badgers and a huge variety of birds. The property is ideal for those who enjoy nature and the outdoors.
