Left on 04/26/2013 for a stay in August 2011
We can't say enough about our stay at Ca' del Fico in Puglia. Originally we were planning to rent a home in Tuscany, but a good friend convinced us to visit this mostly undiscovered jewel in the "heel" of the Italian boot. We were not disappointed.
The property is stunning, remote, thoughtfully furnished (a delightfully modern take on rustic old country style) comfortable and so relaxing. The glass veranda was a perfect spot for afternoon naps, with a lovely pergola for outdoor breakfast dining.
The best part, however was the warm hospitality of the owner, Antonello. Not only did he take the time to meet us for check-in very late because we had a long drive, he showed us wonderful local flavor at family-owned restaurants serving the most divine, homemade food and we were shown how to make handmade orrecheitte, the pasta of Puglia. Nothing pretentious or touristy. It was truly an experience we will remember always, and we hope to be back someday (soon!) -

For us the location was perfect : quiet, in the middle of nowhere and still so close to the sea, the beautiful villages and towns. The villa, with the marvelous trullo and swimming pool, had everything we needed. It's a beautiful home, simple but with good taste. Antonello Losito gave us a warm welcome and lots of information! We enjoyed this very much and felt inspired during our holiday in Puglia.

After a few weeks of running around big cities and touring Churches and museums, a week in Ca' del Fico relaxing, riding bikes and eating amazing food was just what we needed. Puglia is so beautiful and calming that it is much more of an experience than a destination. We are sure to return. Many thanks to antonello and ali for making it so memorable.

Ca' Del Fico certainly lived up to our high expectations and the photos and description are exactly like the real house. The house is perfect if you're looking for a private villa to live in while in Puglia.
Antonello, the owner, met us at the house and was very helpful in both showing us the house and also in introducing us to Puglia. Antonio was so kind to have bought us a map over the area and after our small tour around the house, he told us about the region - what to see, where to eat, etc. and scribbled it all on the map. Not knowing much about the region beforehand this was very helpful to us.
Upon our arrival the fridge had been stocked with water and the cabinets were filled with for example flour and ingredients for cooking.
The pool was also incredibly clean thoughtout the week. No bugs or leaves on the surface. Unfortunately we experienced that our bathing suits (the ones in light colors only) turned yellow - not sure why.
Antonello was very easy to contact and very helpful when we experienced a blackout. And when our oldest daughter had ear pains, he was quick to help us get in contact with his father, the local pharmacist. Overall we are very pleased with the service we received from both antonello and allison. -

LondonGorgeous Pool, Gorgeous Casa, Gorgeous Puglia!!! - Loved it!
Left on 06/03/2012 for a stay in May 2012
Simply put this is a gorgeous spot to spend a couple of weeks. It has both sea and mountains views and a beautiful garden with one of the nicest pools we have encountered and is kept nice and clean, The day room (bigger than the pictures look) gets flooded with light and is a lovely space to relax in. The main bedroom (there was only 2 of us so didn't test sleeping in the trulli- but it looked lovely!) has an extremely comfortable bed and we got excellent sleep and the shower is great that you can simply walk into and has excellent water pressure. Breakfast outside on the terrace was lovely each morning the whole property is even prettier than the pictures show!
We had been a little nervous about the road up but as soon as we got there we realised we had been worrying over nothing! In fact the drive up to the casa is very very scenic through beautiful olives groves and little trulli and quiet and not at all as narrow as we thought it might be- it was absolutely fine! It was actually a joy to drive down as has such nice scenary and in two weeks we only had 2 occassions where we had to wait in a bay for another vehicle to come past, and that was simple and easy to do anyway,
Its also a great base for Puglia and we took trips to the nearby, Alberobello, Locorotondo, Monopoli (less than 10 mins away and really lovely!!), Pogliano a Mare (a favourite!), San Vito, Cistercino, Martina Franca, Ostuni & Ceglie Messapica. It was also a great spot for places slightly further a field- we visited Lecce (1 hour). Matera (take the back route as very scenic), Trani (loved Trani!), Santa Maria al Bagna near Gallipoli ( all about 1hr 30-1hr-50).
The roads in the ares are very well signposted and all the whole we found the driving here relatively easy and straight forward. In late May the roads were very quiet. .
Its worth noting that you can eat out in Puglia relatively inexpensively (not to mention the wine being such good value here!) and the food, we found was very very yummy indeed- we loved it in fact. The pizzaria less than 5 mins drive away Il Tronco has the best pizza we have had ever and we enjoyed take out in the villa 3 times from there! We will be craving this for a long time! There is also an excellent bakery a few minutes away and the bread in Puglia is wonderful! Be sure to eat in Perricci in Monopoli- Antonello recommended it and we loved it- very authentic and the most delicious seafood pasta!!
Antonello and Laura were also extremely nice and helpful and always available to email with questions. (comes with an Ipad!!).
Antonello/ Laura (and ali) Thank you all so much for all your help-we had a wonderful time and would love to return one day. It is such a pretty spot and the villa is presented beautifully! -

What a wonderful spot.
Chilled out, fabulous recommendations for restaurants. Wonderful area. after a day exploring, sit and have a glass of wine in the garden watching the evening sun go down. The position high up overlooking the fertile plain to the sea is the perfect place to relax.
Local walking gives a real flavour of traditional Puglia.
Stylish...you bet !

I echo most of the reviews. The house was small but efficient and beautifully appointed. The gardens were splendid. I was there with my daughter and her 2 girls, ages 5 and 8. They had so much fun running in the open air. Spring was in the air and everything was green and in bloom. I have travelled all over Italy but my first time in Puglia. I was very impressed with its beauty and cleanliness. The house location is perfect for site seeing and such a treasure to come home to every day. ipad a great touch. Thank you antonello and Laura. Very special. And good luck with the new little one on the way.

So much has already been said about Ca' del Fico that there's not much more we can add. Still, we had a fabulous time here and would recommend this property to any couple looking for a romantic vacation in Puglia.
We stayed at Ca del Fico for two weeks. The first week we explored the region on foot and by car but the second week we stayed put. It was the most relaxing week of our lives. We spent lazy mornings drinking coffee and lounging by the pool before heading off to swim in the magnificent agean. Afterwards, we dined on fresh seafood and drank local wine in one of the numerous small villages while getting a different view of the sea. Then it was back "home" to lounge poolside enjoying more sun, wine and bubbles, multiple dips in the pool and then a nice nap. An evening walk then dinner locally capped the day.
As nice as the accommodations were, our vacation would not have been as enjoyable without antonello and Laura's help. Not only are they charming people, they were a wealth of knowledge and genuinely interested in doing all they could to ensure we enjoyed ourselves. From restaurant, beach and wine shop recommendations to Laura's cooking class, everything was top notch. The hospitality industry could learn from a few things from them.
Antonello and Laura, thanks again for all you did to make our vacation so memorable. We look forward to seeing you again.

We had a fantastic week in Puglia. Just a 50 minute drive from Bari to the peaceful surrounding of Ca' del Fico. Laura arrived to give us our briefing, giving us plenty of tips for our stay. After an quick trip to the supermarket we were ready to go. The pool area is very relaxing and our weather (up til the last day) was great. The resident cat was a treat too for the cat lovers amonst us. The nearest beach is just a short 10 minute drive away and they were quiet as we were out of season. Laura's cooking lesson was great, showing us how to make pasta from scratch. I have since made the dish and it's as good at home as it was away. Alberobello was amazing, so quiet it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Would definitely recommend this property to everyone and definitely have the cooking lesson with Laura.

Doncaster, United KingdomA relaxing holiday, living truly 'the Italian way'!
Left on 10/08/2011 for a stay in September 2011
We stayed at Ca del Fico as a family (husband, 2 year old daughter and mum-in-law), for just under 2 weeks. The property is wonderful and has all the facilities and equipment we needed to do any task or activity we wished including lilo's for the pool and beach umbrella's that we were not expecting, as well as a huge amount of kitchenalia!
The property is very secluded and the access road will test your driving skills, but it is well worth the effort. Be prepared for a fe electrical outages now and then and web also encountered quite a lot of insects and other 'wildlife' so you need to bear that in mind - living in very close proximity to millipedes, centipedes and gecko's is to be expected!
Antonello and Laura were as attentive as we wanted them to be and although we were quite happy to 'go it alone' it was comforting to know that help was only a call away - the few occasions we need to contact them the response was very prompt and effective. We really felt that they were there to ensure we had a fantastic time and their support was just pitched right. Laura gave us a very informative briefing on arrival which really helped us map out the rest of our holiday - exceptionally useful and a real 'point of difference' from other villa owners I have experienced.
My very minor recommendation would be to ensure you have a change of bed linen if you are staying more than a week - the thought of washing the existing while we were on holiday and turning it round in one day was really too much effort, so by the end of 10 days it was a bit grubby!
All in all it was a fantastic relaxing holiday and this property, the owners and the location truly make you relax and live the 'Italian Way' during your holiday - fully recommend this property if you want to get away from it all and simply say 'ciao' to the rat-race for a while! Simply Excellent. -

Ca'del Fico was a wonderful tranquil setting from which to explore the region, and there was so much to do and see, that we'll definitely be back to savour the beautiful towns and farms we visited only too briefly.Thank you to antonello and Laura that were so welcoming and helpful in every way!

Ca' del Fico is a small, recently revamped uncluttered stone farm house with attached Trullo (traditional round house of the area). The skylights and windows make the cottage light and airy and full of sunshine. The garden, pool and surrounding olive and fruit tree orchard are what make it so magical and unique. One feels like a 'local' whilst living there.
We cycled and walked from our 'home in the olive groves'. We drove to the beaches and to historical towns and villages, learnt how to make bread, had cookery lessons in our home, had olive tasting and wine tasting expeditions, met the most wonderful local people from Masseria owners to Sommeliers - the kindest people who took such a personal interest in us. Our guides Silvia, Antonello and Laura were just the best. We are now friends forever.Response from Antonello Losito - 09/26/2011

Left on 07/13/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Ca del Fico is a charming, beautiful and romantic hideaway with breathtaking scenery of the olive groves and views of the sea. Antonello and Laura have created a stylish home from home where you cannot help but breathe easy, allow your shoulders to drop and relax into good living. The pool area is wonderful and perfect to cool down from the summer heat.
Puglia was everything we hoped it would be and antonello and Laura's knowledgable recommendations were perfect, especially Panificio L'Assunta just down the road which we visited almost daily. We visited alberobello (including the local Thursday food market), Polignano e Mare, Lecce, Martina Franca and Locorotondo all of which were an easy drive away, returning to Martina Franca one evening for a wonderful dinner under the stars. We also went to the beach south of Torre Canne to Lido Morelli which had crystal clear sea and gently shelving sand which was perfect for the kids. A quick visit to Monopoli and the Centro Storico on the way back to the airport made me regret we hadn't visited sooner as the waterfront was lovely to walk around.
There is no doubt that with the care and attention antonello and Laura put into this beautiful hideaway it will continue to be an enchanting and captivating place to stay. -

My Husband and I spent a week at the Ca del Fico in april. The house is gorgeous - just as it looks on the website. We loved waking up there in the morning and having breakfast on the terrace. It is extremely peaceful and we felt like we never wanted to go out! Laura kindly stocked our fridge for us before we arrived so we had no need to leave the house for the first couple of days - in fact we spent a lot of time at the house, relaxing around the pool, eating and sleeping. With regard to the surrounding area we found some of the towns a little bit 'rough round the edges' and others very charming. Polignaro di Mare is gorgeous - we were there for Easter and the celebrations were in full swing. Monopoli old town is fairly attractive and we had good food there following antonello & Laura's recommendations. We loved the caves at Castellana Grotte and a drive down to Lecce (about an hour) is absolutely worth it - a beautiful city! Unfortunately it was too chilly for us to spend the evenings outside on the terrace, and the pool was very cold in april but in the summer it would be even better.

UKRelaxation in Puglia Paradise
Left on 04/16/2011 for a stay in April 2011
Ca' del Fico sits peacefully amidst the olive groves down a narrow lane a couple of kilometers off the main road. Driving down this lane between the stone walls bordering the groves of olive trees, almond trees, and Fagioli plants gently took us away from the routine of our everyday life and prepared us for a week of relaxation.
We were met at the gates of the villa by Laura who showed us around the property and provided a very informative and appreciated briefing of the area. Her tips on sights and restaurants in Puglia were spot on and during the week allowed us to select what we wanted to see and eat depending on our feelings each day.
A car is necessary for the secluded location of the villa. Don't be afraid of meeting other vehicles along the narrow lane. Everyone was very accommodating and made room for each other as needed.
Normally the pool is not ready until the 1st of May but due to a misunderstanding and lack of communication on this, Antonello came out on the second day to clean the pool and pool area and fill it with fresh water. Few places we've visited would have done this. With this kind of an service his success in the travel industry with his tours and properties is assured. His help with the front gate when the electric company cut off power for part of the day was also great. He was out to the property within 15 minutes.
The amenities of the property were more than advertised. A basket of umbrellas, though not used, and a bocce ball set which we took to the beach are just a few of the extra touches that were unexpected. The use of the iPad allowed us to further research towns in the area before heading out the next day on excursions. The absence of a TV was wonderful. The views from the patios and veranda were spectacular.
Thank you Laura and antonello for sharing Puglia with us. We look forward to hearing friends recount their adventures when they too visit Ca' del Fico.

Since I first heard whispers of Puglia being the place to go now, I spent a long while researching the perfect accomodation online...Ca del Fico was the result of all my fevered trawl on the internet.
When I arrived at the villa it was everything I hoped. With its cute trulli, lovely mature gardens with and hypnotic views. The villa balanced the old rustic build along with its more modern elements superbly.
Another plus was its location, it made it easy to get to other towns and explore the region...especially its restaurants. Puglia is bursting with epicureal delights...go now and indulge your appetite for all things nice. -

We can't say enough about our time at Ca del Fico; it is a cozy villa tucked away in the Pugliese countryside that gives a natural, earthly feel that is both ancient and stylishly modern at the same time. We enjoyed every minute of our stay.
First, the owner was kind enough to accommodate a very late check-in due to the epic drive we had that day. He gave us many great recommendations, maps and tips for getting around. The home is immaculate, beautifully built and decorated, which is subtly reminiscent of southern Mediterranean islands without being oppressively beachy. And while the countryside is spectacular, some of our favorite days were spent lazing around the glass veranda listening to soft music and the rain.
This is a self-catering villa, and we enjoyed cooking our own meals and having lunch outside by the pool. Which, by the way, has an amazing view of both the ocean and the mountains, very rare. Antonello also provided many personal touches and amenities such as bath products, olive oil made from the estate, beach umbrellas, and Wi-Fi internet that you just don't get at your average rental home.
We felt the warmth and hospitality come through all the communications we had with the owner, which was greatly reflected in the people that live in this beautiful place. The villa was like a spa refuge where you can could properly "disconnect" from the outside world, while taking in all of the amazing food, wine and culture of the area.
Anyone looking for an truly local Italian experience that is off the beaten path will surely enjoy staying here. Antonello was a most gracious host and we consider ourselves lucky to have been his guests.Response from Antonello Losito - 09/15/2010

The whole area is very pretty with lots to do and everything is very close by. Antonello and Laura made us really welcome and give us the right advise of places to visit and even booked tables to restaurants for us. They are wonderful host and nothing is too much for them. The food in the area is fantastic with lovely local fresh fish restaurants that are good value for money. We (my pregnant wife, my three year old and I) stayed at Ca' del Fico for 10 days in June 2010. This place was exactly what we wanted: a comfortable house with a lovely pool, in a beautiful, quiet and secluded location, with a lovely view and easy access to gelaterias, beaches, lovely places to visit and other such important things. Antonello and Laura could not have been more helpful in ensuring we had what we needed and making suggestions for things to do (though with great weather, a pool and beaches nearby, we didn't in fact "do" very much). The area is a great one to explore, whether you are interested in art and culture, physical activities or relaxation, food and wine or all of the above, and this is a wonderful spot to do it from. I could enjoy everyday all my senses: eyes watching panoramic sea view and nature, hears listening chill out music offred by antonello and brids twitt, smell of essence in the rooms, taste of good food. It is a shame not to share this pleasure with someone else and hard to say "bye" at the end of the week. -

We stayed the the Ca' del Fico for 9 nights in April 2010. The Ca' del Fico was very clean, neat, and nicely designed and decorated. The Ca del Fuca is situated in a quaint rural setting in an olive orchard, with supplemental plantings of fig, orange, lime, lemon, apple, pomegranite, and other fruit trees. The home faces the east and southeast, and has a view of the Adriatic Sea and rural Puglia. To the west, the home has a nice view of the adjacent forested hillslope. The kitchen was well equipped and we were able to easily prepare meals for four. Antonello was attentive to our needs and provided great service.
The main reason for our trip to Puglia and Ca' del Fico was for some senic cycling and sightseeing in southeastern Italy. The home and location exceeded our expectations. We were able to bike daily from the home to many senic and historic location. We biked to local markets for food and wine, so it provided a great base for our vacation.
Next to the fresh oranges picked daily, we liked this home's setting and style (in April it was still too cool to use the beautiful pool, but of course in the hot summers this would be a highlight). We found the second bedroom in the authentic Trulli a bit tight with limited storage. A small shelter to protect bikes from rain would be nice.Response from Antonello Losito - 05/06/2010

Ca del Fico is exactly what you imagine when you dream of staying in an Italian villa. The drive in past ancient trulli houses and beautiful olive orchards set the tone for visit. The home is so beautiful and clean, with excellent amenities, and supported by the owner 24 hours a day. We really enjoyed the view all the way to the Adriatic Sea, and the morning sunrises and evening sunsets often punctuated with a rainbow. We travel to Puglia on occasion and will likely stay here again.

With Ca' del Fico we lost our virginity. This was the first holiday home we rented. Actually while I was surfing on the Internet the only sure thing was that we would like to spend some time in the South of Italy. Then boooom, I found the place and there was no question we rent it.
In real it was even more amazing then on the pictures. I have a very strong feeling, a memory which I will never forget. Every morning I woke up earlier than my Husband, and I walked out to the living room, and after 3 days I could easily tell what time is it from the sun's position and the lights (we were very lucky with the beautiful weather all week) I think it's not that ordinary.
One night on Antonello's recommendation we visited a fantastic place, and we had an amazing gourmet dinner, which we also will never forget. This part of Italy is full of breathtaking villages, cities, seasides, without mentioning the food, and the Italian's kindness. (It's just not easy even after 100th Italian visit to get used to their daily routine, I always wanted to die from hunger before 8 o'clock, which is not smart :DDD )
Antonello is a very helpful and cool guy. We are looking forward to make our second visit at Ca del Fico, maybe in combination with a bicycle tour with Southern Vision. -

We have stayed at Ca del Fico twice now. Antonello is a great host, and runs a beautiful villa. If peace and tranquility are what you seek, this is the place for you.
Also there are lots of interesting things around to do and see. If you have never visited this part of Italy, you have a treat in store.
I thoroughly recommend this accommodation. -

I stayed at Ca del Fico for two weeks in August 2009.
This place is idyllic; it plunges you in such a serene dimension that you barely want to venture out.
The view is stunning, on one side you have the beautiful olive trees fields ending in a see view and on the other side the hills of Apulia.
The house is perfect for either a romantic holiday or a family holiday. It has all the comforts; the big windows of the living room allow you enjoy the view even if you decide to stay inside because of the heat outside or the (rare) rain.
When you wake up in the morning and the sun is shining, and you can hear the sound of the birds and smell the scent of nature, you just forget about everything else and enjoy the moment.
Ca del fico is in a very safe location; there are neighbours to make you feel not isolated but they are far enough to make you feel in a secluded and quite place.
I love that place and it is the place where my fiancé’ asked me to marry him, hence it is just magic.
Enjoy.

My wife and I visited Ca del Fico on our honeymoon in Puglia, Italy. This 2 bedroom villa just outside of Monopoli (home of a great morning market) really blew us away. We are both avid readers and writers as well as lovers of good and wine and this space was simply out of a fantasy for us.
We were met by the owner, Antonello Losito who spoke exceptional English and was simply exuberant about the region and our experience we were going to have. Antonello explained the house clearly in perfect detail. (we have stayed at many apartments in Italy and rarely is anything about the property adequately explained.) From here we took a short drive through many of the olive groves (amazing) down to the sea where we were treated to amazing seafood. The following day we were led on a guided bike ride by Antonello to some of the neighboring towns where we had unbelievable pasta and som of the best vegetables we had ever had.
Each day we would read on the terrace overlooking the sea, have a morning swim, and then Antonello would meet us for bike rides and amazing company. Antonello explained that his company called "Southern Visions" was the premier cycling outfitter in the area and we were simply blown away with all his company offered. So, along with the villa, we are not booking a second trip to Puglia with 8 of our friends in late 2010 to ride with Antonello and experience even more of this amazing undiscovered region.
Oh, by the way, if you like they can also arrange a mozzarella cheese making demo, cooking classes, and even lunch with a local culinary hero (Giacomino) in his authentic trullo house. Thank you so much Antonello and please know we will always have a place in our hearts for Ca del Fico
