Perched on a hilltop and surrounded by gardens, Villa Alba is a quiet retreat in the heart of Tuscany’s Val d’Orcia region. Located on the Castiglion del Bosco estate, the three-bedroom villa is the perfect size for a family vacation, offering a private, luxurious space, resort-worthy amenities and plenty of vineyards, fields and woods to roam.
Start each day at Villa Alba by flipping through the newspaper and choosing a treat from the pastry basket — both delivered as part of your rental. Then, decide whether you’d rather sit at the shady outdoor dining area just off the house, or lounge in the sun by the pool. In the evening,... pick a video or board game for entertainment, browse via Wi-Fi, and cozy up to the fireplace or flip on the air conditioning, depending on the weather.
The villa’s interiors pair the greatest hits of Tuscan country architecture, like beamed ceilings, terracotta floors and large fireplaces, with comfortable modern furnishings. In the living room, plump, neutral sofas are the perfect spot for reading or watching TV, while a studded, rust-red coffee table adds exotic flair. The combination kitchen and dining room is warm and open, with a large wooden table and chairs and cheery blue and white tile backsplash behind the range.
There are two bedrooms in the main house at Villa Alba, and one bedroom in a separate guest house. Each of the three bedrooms has an en-suite bathroom and a flat-screen TV. In the main house, there’s one bedroom with a king bed and walk-in closet, and one bedroom with two twin beds. In the guest house, the bedroom has a king bed and its own outdoor sitting area.
Thanks to the villa’s location on the Castiglion del Bosco estate, there are plenty of outdoor activities at your doorstep, from walks through the estate’s vineyards and rounds on its golf course to hunting trips with the estate’s game warden. But there’s also plenty to see within a short driving distance; Il Borgo is less than a mile away, restaurants are about 1 mile away and the town of Montalcino is about 7 miles away.

Castiglion del Bosco is an age-old Tuscan estate. Its vineyards, fields, woods, farmhouse villas and ancient church bear witness to the care and attention of generations of farmers, landowners, artists and architects.
The estate lies within the confines of the Val d'Orcia, an undulating landscape known for its enchanting beauty and seductive juxtaposition of colors and textures. Deep green in spring and golden in fall, this gentle land is also rich in art and culture. Carefully preserved ancient sites, dating back to the Etruscan era, blend in with art from the Medieval and early Renaissance periods. The area is also famous for its agriculture. The vineyards of the Val d'Orcia, including Castiglion del Bosco's own, produce one of the most coveted Italian red wines, Brunello di Montalcino, and its younger sibling, Rosso di Montalcino.
In addition to their deep-rooted appreciation for art, history, food and wine, Tuscans are great sports enthusiasts and Castiglion del Bosco offers ample opportunities to live the Tuscan outdoor life to the full. Though a recent arrival, the 18-hole championship-standard Castiglion del Bosco Golf Club is already being ranked among the finest in Italy by golfing professionals. The extensive wooded hills and valleys on the vast estate provide endless scope for trekking, mountain biking, nature walks and hunting with the resident game warden. Fly fishing, horseback riding and hot-air ballooning are also among the activities offered on site.
From Castiglion del Bosco, all of Tuscany is within easy reach.
Additional amenities include: video game library, laundry facility, outdoor furniture, mini bar, gardener, alfresco dining.Read more
