Gello is an ancient hamlet of nine stone houses and a church in the Upper Maremma region of Tuscany. Nestled among cypresses upon the top of a round hill, high on a flank of the Cecina Valley, it is a delightful place to holiday. In all directions there are views of utter tranquility and sublime beauty. On the western edge of this magical landscape there is even the occasional, distant glimpse of the sea. The coast, which is ten miles away, less than half an hour by car, is a succession of long sandy beaches, many fringed by woods of tall and shady umbrella pine.

Each of the Gello houses is well kept and fully equipped with everythi...ng for a pleasurable stay. Each has comfortable furnishing in keeping with the timeless, Tuscan, vernacular of its architecture. All but one are ancient structures. The one which had completely to be rebuilt, Casa delle Acque, was reconstructed in 2004 from its original materials and, while externally indistinguishable from the rest, now includes large kitchen-dining and living rooms.Read more

place to spend a comfortable relaxing holiday overlooking the valley.
Local mild marine climate allows comfortable outdoor activities.
Roomy fully equipped self catering indipendent villa, private lawn, b&b; home made breakfast available. Children are most welcomed guests. The beach is a 20 minute drive, Siena Firenze are at reach on a daily trip. A lareg pool can be found 4km away in Ponteginori. Car needed, free MTB available.

Taxes, weekly cleaning, linens, water, and power included.
In winter period, heating gas will be charged at cost price according to the individual meter to be checked at guest arrival and departure. We charge at the same price we paid to the local gas supplier. Original invoice will be made available. In winter time, the worst daily incidence may be € 20,00/day in le Acque House.
Room temperature can be adjusted and programmed at your taste . House is always warmed up at our charge before guests arrival.

  We felt we had come home from the moment we first arrived and were shown into our house by the wonderful Carla accompanied by her old dog, Indie. That, in 2008, was our first visit of many - each time with our own dog and one or more of our sons. There we would receive friends as though it had always been our home. We would read in the shade. We would sip Campari and Blood Orange juice gazing at the view. All our meals would be out of doors. In the evening we would dine and chat to the sound of the assiuoli calling to each other in the tree tops. We love it that there isn't a swimming pool. In such a setting it would be a crass and ugly intrusion. Gello may be modest but it isn't vulgar. And it's no inconvenience. When we want to bathe or lounge by the water's edge, there is a very fine, public, open air pool - an astonishing amenity in such a small place - in the nearest village, Ponteginori, scarcely five minutes away; and only a little further off is the seaside where we have spent many happy hours. Such excursions, though, delightful as they are, only build up the joy of returning to the hilltop's peace and the landscape it surveys. That feeling of coming home is worth going away for.
