It was disppointing to see that the house backed onto the highway. There were bicycles available for use and they were in riding condition. The one bathroom door would not open on arrival but was soon opened up by the maintenance man but not fixed. The door did not lock for the time we were there and there were 3 couples in the house. The ensuite bathroom was not functionable enough to use properly. The shower head was too low and barely any water would came out of the sink tap. I had to use a different bathroom and this was not convienent at times. Although there was a significant cleaning fee of over $300.00, we left the house pretty much spotless, had the dish washer running and most towels washed. There was very little to do and I don't think the cleaning staff would be there longer than an hour. I personally would find it difficult to rent from this agency again. I would wonder if all conditions of a house would be described on their web site. I hope this is published and taken into consideration for future renters.

we had lot's of room and the house was very neat and clean. The patio was great for our young children to play in a safe area. We liked being close to the beaches and butterfly beach was a great place. The downtown area was nice to be with-in walking distance also.

We had a great time in this house. There were 7 of us in total--and everybody had the perfect bedroom. The bedrooms were very nice. The bathrooms could use a little modernizing, but were fine. There's lots of hanging out room (2 living rooms!), dining room, and kitchen table, so everyone had room to spread out. 5 minute walk to Montecito restaurants, and 5-10 minute walk to the beach. It was beautiful and perfect.

The Montecito Village Retreat help make our son's wedding even more special. The house was well kept, spacious and in a great location for all of the family activities. The bedrooms were beautiful and the beds very comfortable. We loved the morning sun in the dining area and the patio in the evening with the foothills and the stars. This retreat was a great house one I would recommend to anyone.

The home was clean and well cared for. All the luxuries of a home kitchen were available; the open floor plan, multiple sets of bathroom towels, laundry, etc. were great! Being within walking distance of downtown Montecito and the beach was great. Having the ease to go between the 2 units behind the fence with small children worked well and kept the girls safe. We are talking about visiting again next year.

I think it's time for some remodeling or else a reduction in the rental rate! My sister stayed in a deluxe home for little more than this cost us.

Pasadena, CAGreat location and great layout.
Left on 08/24/2010 for a stay in July 2010
Overall, the property worked well for us. We do have some complaints--most of which could be easily fixed. Some should be fixed.
* pond in back - seemed dirty and foamy when we arrived. Later, the water was cleaner but reeked of chlorine.
* Anyone who cannot negotiate stairs could not use this property but no notice of this in the description of the property.
3) ice maker on the "left side" unit (Master Suite) is broken and the freezer compartment is full of rust.
4) "sleeper sofa"-description indicates a "sleeper sofa" in Master Suite, but the sofa now has a slipcover and the sofa bed is inaccessible.
5) Two safety issues: wooden steps on left side should have safety stripes to mark steps and the hot water setting is much too high. Water is dangerously hot.
6) Latch string to back patio on the left side is broken.
7) Property description indicates two useable garages--left and right. Garages are basically unusable.
8) should be safety stickers on the sliders.
10) The dishwasher does not get dishes clean. All had to be rewashed by hand.
10) potted plants are dead or dying. This degrades the overall atmosphere of the property and creates a feeling of neglect.
12) There are two luggage stools in the Master Suite but no luggage racks in the large apartment. These are inexpensive and would be extremely helpful.
The property "worked" for us, but we did feel a general sense that it is not being well-maintained or cared-for. The back patio is unattractive with rough areas and elements of earlier landscaping that have not been redone. The house is generally clean, but not meticulously so. We would give the state-of-repair and housekeeping a B-. All of this is in the context of having paid "high season" rates for this rental.

This place was perfect for our family gathering... plenty of room to hang out together... and plenty of room to get off by yourself. And close to everything, beach, shopping and restaurants. Not fancy, but mid-century modern, clean and comfortable... we all loved being there! Not to mention the great service Paradise Retreats gave us...prompt and professional...Thanks so much!

NCA convenient find!
Left on 06/15/2010 for a stay in April 2010
I found this rental home for a week long family vacation. I and several family members flew out to Santa Barbara for my destination wedding and this house was a great set up for us. The 2 separate suites made it feel like we were staying in a house and a separate apartment. This was convenient b/c my sister was traveling with 2 small children, so there was both adequate privacy and enough separation from the kids while still being just a few steps away from each other. There were plenty of bedrooms and each room was a great size. It was wonderful having private baths for each room also. The location was fantastic! The wedding was at the Four Seasons Resort in SB, so the house was literally just a short walk away from the resort as well as from all of the shops, restaurants, and just off of the freeway. The house is older, but relatively well maintained. It would be nice to see some new carpeting or hard floors put down in the main part of the house b/c the existing carpet seemed pretty grungy. A fresh coat of paint would make a big difference also. Some of the sliding glass doors and screens could stand to have some attention also. Overall, however, this house was a great deal for us... we also got it during the end of the off season so the rate was fantastic for a full week!

we had a great week and the beds were great as was
the hot tub outside. It's however too bad that the
house is so close to the freeway. When you are
outside it is very noisy. I really love the village

We appreciate this guest's honest review of Montecito Village Retreat.
They are correct that there is freeway noise at the property, but we have never had a comment about it before now (please be sure to read all the positive reviews of this property).
We personally rented this home for a month during a remodel of our Santa Barbara house. To be frank, we were concerned that the freeway would be a problem, and were pleasantly surprised with how rarely we noticed it.
The guest's comment regarding the kitchen only means that it is due for a cosmetic remodel to update the "look". However it is clean and functional, and we have never had a negative comment about it before.
Sincerely,

The accomodation was very comfortable, spacious and immaculate. The patio

we had a group of 8 from Canada there for 6 days (to attend my son's wedding), and we all thought the house was perfect for the occasion. Lots of space, both inside and out, and all the facilities anyone could ask for. The barbecue was very handy for a couple of dinners, and the hot-tub was a big hit.
The location was also great - quiet street, short walk to the beach (e.g. for 4th of July fireworks, and easy to get to the centre of town.
We had a plumbing problem one day, but Robert did a great job to hustle up a repairman to get it fixed immediately. -

spent every night in the hot tub and it was wonderful after a long day of
wedding activities. The bikes were greatly appreciated-only a short drive
down to the beach. We would love to return and would recommend this home

Montecito was as you described....beautiful, fun to explore, safe, accessible. The house location is great and situated for easy walking to the beach, coffee shops, even the grocery store. The home is spacious, cozy and accommodates a group amply. The hot tub under the stars is a bonus!
Those who manage the property..Theo, Becky, Sandi and Jean..are competent, graciousness, and flexibility, and extend exceptional customer care. Paradise Retreats, and this vacation property and Montecito location, was a treat for us all, from start to finish!

We appreciate this guest's honest review of Montecito Village Retreat.
It is true that the Master Suite is the other half of this duplex property which is offered in whole to our guests.
In the property Profile of our website we inform our prospective guests that the Master Suite is accessed through a separate entrance (which is easily accessible through the private back yard).

Stayed here for my brother's wedding in Carpenteria. Excellent
location by Coast Village Road allowed our family to do several fun and
relaxing things.
The kitchen has everything, beds were comfortable with nice
furnishings, and a quiet location.
We road the bikes (available in the garage) to breakfast at Jeanine's
and down on the beach on the sand- almost to Carp!
We had a great time and would definitely rent this property again if
needed. Thanks!
